Xone: DB4- the official unofficial thread

(former thread title Xone: DB4- convince me not to sell off my possessions and drain my bank account)

I mean it's just a mixer, nothing I should sell my S4 and some other expensive possessions for and drain my bank account completely for... right?

I am having a hard time with this decision. I know it won't make me a better DJ, yet it gives me the urge to make irrational spending decisions. Please talk me out of it.

Yep same on dig inputs

I was surprised that trim didnt help the meters in menu too

I wonder if they will fix this in a firmware update to be able to adjust the analog input trim through the menu so you still have proper use of the gain knob and meters through analog with CDJs.

That seems like a problem to me, does anyone know if this is a problem through digital inputs?

When hooked up thru traktor the volume doesn't seem to peak as much and this is with traktors volume at 0db.

Yeah I believe they're waiting on a firmware update to fix the CDJ issue; apparently they run so hot it's impossible to use them effectively? It might be buried in this thread, there was someone who dumped the DB4 in favor of the DJM 900 because of this issue. If it really is still an issue hopefully it will be fixed soon but I would email A+H support to find out details.

If using CDJs you can go into the menu and mess with the master channel gain and probably fix it. Some people were saying CDJs run pretty hot but using vinyl or the DB4 soundcard has been perfect for me and I keep the gains at 12:00 and didn't have to adjust any mixer settings.

If you are using Traktor then just turn down the master volume in traktor until you get the right channel levels on the db4 you like- the master level controls the level of each deck in external mixer mode.

EDIT: nvm didnt believe ti was as far on as page 29,
I was joking around about it but with further research there is a way to get it to work and it is far from an ideal solution I am satisfied with and karlos wouldn't be happy about talking about it here. I had it running with timecode on my old crappy PC laptop just to check it out but traktor 2 kills that thing so it was laggy.

They have an agreement where they can't advertise below a certain price on a lot of products.

And yes, you can email, call, or use the 'ask for better price' button on their site and get a better price on just about everything on their site. They will also often list 'open box' items for cheaper and most of the open box stuff is really new in box and they just say that so they can list a better price.
Lol, a wiki on my question of why they cant advertise prices.. Gotta luv the web

Yes.. Call them and say 'interested in db4-whst is best price u can do'

I dont really know why they cant advertise low prices.. But they cant.. Anybody know logic of this? I guess to keep Playing field even for other shops that sell the same product?

2200 not too bad.. I believe they were doing 2100 a few months back..

In person cash they strike even better deals.. Glad they r in my neighborhood

The prices online are never their final prices..just call them or email them and ask. I find rule of thumb with them is theyll knock 25 to 30 percent off their advertised price. Sometimes even more.

I really havent seen anywhere else come close to their prices.. Anybody else know any other spots that are as cheap as proaudiostar? Sweetwater is another place ive found great deals but they arent as consistent as proaudiostar..

Shit,, proaudio were selling midifighters for less than djtt lol. 150 bucks

It is 100% correct. What i was referring to was running the Setup Wizard and selecting the mixer. If you run the Wizard you have to select a mixer.

You dont 'have' to run the Setup Wizard though because Traktor detects the mixers soundcard automatically if it is Certified as in your case.

When you install Traktor you install the software to enable it to detect certified mixers. Traktor installs this regardless. Traktor Pro (non Scratch versions) even install the DVS plugin it just isnt activated.

I simply dont see how hes gonna trick Traktor into believeing that the soundcard in the DB4 is one that Traktor recognises and allows the DVS plugin to work.

The only circumstance that this has worked is with the Denon 600 because Traktor can see it as a Denon 1600.

A rightly directed petition would put some stress on it. I'm not talking about some stupid in 1 minutes made petition like most are on websites. That article is about the latter. I don't see numbers on that page to back up the claims they make. I might be looking over them though.

That thread however does not lure in the big names that we need to get the whole thing rolling. I don't see digweed/sasha/dubfire/... taking the time to post there and those are the kind of people we need. Those people all have twitter accounts and some of them are active on certain community s. I believe you can get them to go with the idea. No offense to john does ( like myself).

Unfortunately online petitions never accomplish anything

Continue to bombard them with support tickets/emails and there is this thread: http://www.native-instruments.com/fo...d.php?t=154187
