Xone: DB4- the official unofficial thread

(former thread title Xone: DB4- convince me not to sell off my possessions and drain my bank account)

I mean it's just a mixer, nothing I should sell my S4 and some other expensive possessions for and drain my bank account completely for... right?

I am having a hard time with this decision. I know it won't make me a better DJ, yet it gives me the urge to make irrational spending decisions. Please talk me out of it.

This thread started out (its seems like 10 years ago now) about a mixer.
How has this thread become an 18 page monster.

Its one post away from going in Off-Topic

Mate....I ordered it in Aug already. Never arrived. So they finally sent a new one...but instead of having them send to Cape Town SA, I just got it delivered locally in the UK where our HQ is. My boss is there at the moment, but will only be coming this way beginning of Dec.

But he has it...and can see and touch it!

So its REAL!

Yeah...putting it in my Xone:22. The cut in at the moment is not that good.
My APC80 does a better job (but is gonna fuck out at some point) due to it being midi...so I could do some settings there to make it cut in better etc.

I have never used a scratch fader in my life...but used TONS of mixers and hated all the Xfaders on em.

We shall see!

I bet it will make me hard....cost enough!

I seriously thought about having some made.

That's also why people have such strange views of Behringer DJ mixers. Electronically, they're not that bad

F**K, now I want a DB4, I only played with it for a min at the DJ Expo in August, because I knew I wasn't buying it and I since I needed a new controller I ended up buying a Xone DX....So now I have A DDM 4000 with a Xone DX and I use the crossfader and sample section of the DDM to control midi functions in Traktor but I could adjust that for a DB4 and those effects....ITS THE EFFECTS DAMN IT...I WANT THEM!!!

Gotta love GAS... What other place can I find a discussion about "convince me NOT to buy something," in which everyone who buys it reports that it was broken when they got it, and yet still nearly everyone reading through this concludes that they have to buy one. Somebody should put this in a class on guerrilla marketing.

In other news, my replacement should be arriving this evening so I'll keep ya posted how it goes....

Yeah, every time I hear someone play a compliment to some bpm detection I just wanna bust out some vicious breakcore with some lovely syncopation.

Maybe you can pick up a replacement power supply from radio shack in the meantime?

Until you hear these effects words can't describe them- they are true pro studio effects.

Traktor's effects are good but they are nothing like this and if you hear them you know they are traktor efx. With the db4 reverbs it doesn't sound like an effect it sounds like you are actually in the environment the reverb is emulating.

try the next door effect on some good monitors/sub and bring it from all wet to dry and see what I mean.
Next door was the first FX I got going on from your earlier post. And yeah it's Fing gorgeous. Sadly I can't play through my monitors until the weekend. My new place is an acoustic evening mare and I need to install some heavy cloth on my walls...and add some carpet. But this is such a clean sounding piece of gear. I'm going to need a few weeks just to get muscle memory down.

I admire your optimism but there are people at the heart of NI that dont get anything like that kind of influence.

I wish you luck.

Xone, I hope you can get your replacement soon. I understand why you hated to part with it even though it was "broken".
See you guys in a few weeks.
BTW, I prefer ISO to EQ, so smooth.
