Wow this looks promissing

http://www.allen-heath.com/uk/Produc...neK2&SubCatId=

So if you link two together with the ethernet cable through USB, will it 'merge' the soundcard so you have a 4 channel soundcard?

If it does then you could bring two to a gig, hook them together with ethernet and not need another audio interface and have a 4 channel soundcard. It kind of sucks they put one 1/8" on the front instead of having both outputs in the back. It makes it a little awkward if you wanted to run both outputs to separate channels on the mixer, now you have to run a cable to the front. Also remember you have the option to run each channel in traktor mono so you could use one of them as a 4 channel soundcard with a few adapters (like you would with an audio 2 or 4). Plus a lot of systems are mono anyway.

I really like the idea of having one or two of these with a DB2 or DB4 for a home setup then just take them to your gig with a laptop and you have an audio interface to use already in your controller with the house mixer.

I love the X1s but I might have to give them up for these, i would love to get my hands on one.

I agree Xone, but I would not exchange my iPAD with a simple XY pad with no feedback or multi touch on it.
Even more after this mapping/concept:

I really hope they make another one or two variations of these xlink controllers that you can link together and create the perfect setup. I know stuff like this is out there but I want more xones that will link to this.

Hopefully something with no volume faders, I wouldn't complain about a controller with all knobs and buttons like this, then something with dual XY pads. Maybe just a button matrix xlink controller would interest some people too. I believe an XY touchpad controller could be big, there's nothing really like it for DJs except the ipad.

I wonder if Allen & Heath have been browsing our good community s? At any rate, I almost need to go buy this, hold on.
I'm sure they were watching us all the time. They want to compete with NI with controllers, what the best place to know what NI consumers want?
DJTT for sure!

Let's start another mockup thread after BPM!!!

Hey A&H, what if you start a competition for the best controller design by the DJ community?
We could submit our controllers designs and the best could win some prizes

I REALLY doubt anyone using this as an all in one would be using 24/96 files...

not sure what to do with the upfaders though. If its around, or hopefully under, 200$ I'm so in for one these. I loved the general idea of the Xone 1D but it was big, expensive and the tiny buttons were a wee bit of a piss off
200 euros

Yeah not sure about the upfaders either. Sample slot volume would make sense if you're into that, or some super faders.

Sequencer, sample decks, synth controller, ableton. So many uses, so little time.

Now I just want another Xone x-link controller with an LCD touchscreen XY pad that can send MIDI and also be used to control all the mixer effects units on the DB4 and DB2.

Not going to happen, this is priced more than $100 less than the 1D which didn't have a soundcard, you are already at X1 prices and the interface is a bonus. It's also not a full fledged soundcard like the 2D.

I just hope someone can answer my question if the soundcards will merge so to speak if two are connected together.

Yeah I can see what you mean with faders, I'd like to see what it looks like in hand or with a finger on it. I believe I maybe in for one of these as it would easily replace how I currently use my X1 and LPD8.

Great piece of kit by first impression

Can somebody tell me the main difference between a soundcard like this one and for instance, the Reloop Contour Interface Edition? Because this is the 48 kHz and the Reloop is the 96 kHz?

I can almost promise there will not be a version without a soundcard, it is already $240 which is around what the X1 was when it first came out and at least $100-$150 less than the 1D. There is no way A&H will make anything cheaper it wouldn't make sense for them.

I have this cool thing were i put an Audio 2 inside the X1 case, zip it up with the headphone cable and USB cable popping out of the back and put the X1 on top.
Bar set with just laptop and X1 (Audio2 inside)

This new K2 will be a neat little job for a bar set.
Just on 2 Decks and use the 2 encoders as Jogs to seek position. Use 2 channels for the Deck mixer controls and 2 channels for the FX on those decks.
Yeah, the more I look at it the more I like it. If it really is $240 then I may replace one X1.

Also if you're linking two together you'll most likely only be using the soundcard in one so it's a little wasteful.

God damn it's pretty though...

I'm sure many already have soundcard solutions and just want a controller. I just hope the soundcards can aggregate unlike the DB4's.

Anyways, I'll be getting 2 if that's the price. Already started working out mapping...
