Wow this looks promissing

http://www.allen-heath.com/uk/Produc...neK2&SubCatId=

So if you link two together with the ethernet cable through USB, will it 'merge' the soundcard so you have a 4 channel soundcard?

If it does then you could bring two to a gig, hook them together with ethernet and not need another audio interface and have a 4 channel soundcard. It kind of sucks they put one 1/8" on the front instead of having both outputs in the back. It makes it a little awkward if you wanted to run both outputs to separate channels on the mixer, now you have to run a cable to the front. Also remember you have the option to run each channel in traktor mono so you could use one of them as a 4 channel soundcard with a few adapters (like you would with an audio 2 or 4). Plus a lot of systems are mono anyway.

I really like the idea of having one or two of these with a DB2 or DB4 for a home setup then just take them to your gig with a laptop and you have an audio interface to use already in your controller with the house mixer.

I love the X1s but I might have to give them up for these, i would love to get my hands on one.

I would love to use the K2 by itself for Traktor. This reminds of my X-session pro days.

Itch setup: VCI-300
Traktor setup: Xone K2

Best of both worlds! I love small portable setups :-)

Talked to Justin at JK Pro Audio. He said they have pre-order available for late March. If you pre-order before February 29 you get a voucher for a k2 styleflip also.

Some Italian suppliers are saying that the date is April 2012! We hope

bugger. tho on the plus side it means they might get released around the same time as the new behringer units. still believe i'll go for a k2 but that behringer mixer controller is tempting...

Well, a few more months to reconsider the purchase of it. I would really like to map one myself, but also like the labeling on the X1. Though the K2 comes with far more buttons and messages.

cheap compared to the predicted price which i thought was around 210gbp which is 330usd. ok... not such a big difference

i'm dying to find out what they will really sell for when released and in stock etc anyway.

i see djdecks.co.uk have them priced at 199gbp including p&p and avail for pre-order which ties in with what u said of 230eur. has anyone else pre-ordered from any place in the uk yet and/or know the best place to order from?

Yeah, that was my dream mixer for a long time. I was very close to buying one off a guy on DJF, but I ran into money issues and couldn't sell my 62 in time. Plus, I just don't know

the xone 92r knobs are nice and chunky. I do like the feel of the db4 since the 4 d/w knobs are the same huge rotary knobs they use on the 92r

I disagree. But, well, that's why they make both kinds of mixers. And I know I'm in the minority. I remember at one point I was using straight RCA cables on the fx loop of my pcv-180 set pre-fader, so I could use the FX Send knobs as rotary level controls or use the faders. And while I had it set up that way, I never touched the line faders.

After a ridiculous power surge fried the mixer's output transformer (among other hardware plugged into that crappy power strip), I ended up taking it to a house party and using the FX Send as the master output (into a Stereo DI box). Never missed the line faders at all, though I did switch them to post-fader sends for one of the guys I was spinning with.

Oh yeah. There was a thread in which I was asking for suggestions and didn't really find any. As I said, if I can sell the gear to get close to paying for it, I'll be ordering an Empath Rotary pretty soon. Otherwise, it's basically down to buying something that's about the price of an Empath R (probably not), or saving more for a better mixer (DJR-400, probably).

The funny part and the reason I posted those pictures is that I even prefer a crappy controller that functions like a really basic rotary mixer to a xone. Apparently, I'm one of the few that actually prefers rotaries.

I had a cool X1 map with EQs and rotary volume faders on the 4th bottom knovs that worked pretty well.

They're better.

No, really. It's a preference thing. A lot of linear volume controls are kinda jumpy, plus your hand being worse at the motion of moving your finger or whole arm instead of twisting your wrist means that you don't have very precise control over subtle level changes.

It's just a preference thing, but it tends to be a strong one. Don't get a rotary just because it's cheaper. You're likely to hate it. A lot of DJs do. I don't hate line-faders, and I've only owned mixers with them, but

Correct me if I'm wrong please:

Theoretically seen I could connect the RCAs on the back to my amp or powered speakers, use the faders and pods and buttons to control various parameters in traktor, and Cue up my tracks through the output in the front panel ?

If so, this piece of gear is brilliant.

It supposedly allows you to make smoother fades but since you can do it with the EQs I don't really see the advantage. It just makes quick cuts harder to do, but then again you still have the cross fader for that. It comes down to whatever your preference is.

I believe it's way too cramped to be a mixer that is any sort of pleasurable to mix on. I would much rather just haul a mixer.
