The NI Traktor X1 MK2 Thread

With news of the new NI Z1 I was looking at online retailers and came across this at one of them

http://www.pssl.com/Computer-DJ/Nati...-DJ-Controller

Looks good.

I have not seen it announced anywhere so it looks like someone jumped the gun.

here's an interesting find ...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-in1-Lig...21100713602%26

Forget all of the camera card crap, the 3 x USB ports would be ideal to use the Z1 & X1 at the same time.

I'm more so looking to use the Z1 & X1 with my laptop, I do however have an iPad Mini so I'll try some of this stuff out when the new NI bits get released.

Will you be able to use a Z1 and X1 mk2 at the same time with Ipad? doesn't look like it's possible which is a shame.

Definitely wait, at worst you'll probably pick up a cheaper original X1 as they'll try and clear them out.

I'm quite keen on the new one but it'll need a bit of custom mapping like my existing X1 for the way I play as I don't use a lot of effects.

2 of these and a Z1 might just be my new setup ... that is till a new S4 comes out

It will do exactly the same thing apart from having a dedicated 'flux' button, although as previously stated the mk1 has your dvs mode select, manual loop, tempo changing which i cant see on the picture on the mk2

They just deleted a topic on the NI community about this that someone posted...so...make of that what you will.

The only things that make me questioning myself about the pictures is .. Why call this new product "kontrol x1" ??? There is already one ... So it make me believeing about a fake ... Maybe I'm wrong. Moreover I wouldn't go for the "new one". Without more info about the possibilities.

Positives
- power makes sense given the z1 and IOS
- finally they put the loop size display, great stuff
- finally RGB, nice
- browsing sorted, having two browse knobs has always been a waste IMO, they do the same thing on the old x1, all you need is two buttons to press and one selector knob, the proposed impl already works perfect on Twitch/VCI380

Negatives
- only four cue points kinda sucks, shift will prob delete them, so not only not eight HCs but also this ommits some other functions from teh old X1 (DVS modes selector / beat jump / manual loop in loop out).
- how does one change the tempo? not even dedicated buttons seriously? its all very well being able to nudge but I really value being able to move the tempo up or down regardless if it is synced or not
- I don't understand the touch strip, I like the way it works on the twitch but there you have dedicated bank buttons and two strips one for A and one for B. Here how do you change between functions, they mentioned play head, pitch bend and fx, three functions right? time two given two decks gives total six functions... just mapping I know but its not obvious for me how this would work...

I dont really understand the amount of 'big improvement to the original x1' posts on here.

Have people had bad experiences with the x1?? For me its probably the most important bit of gear i own after the actually laptop... ive had too many gigs were the x1 has saved me and the whole evening !

If this is indeed legit, and if i don't need to power them individually, most likely i will pick up 2 eventually. I can live without the extra hotcues, and the touch strip used as a pitch bend would certainly solve my dj swapover issues. To be honest the second browse knob on the X1 isn't necessary. My priority atm tho is a new beast mode laptop when my tax cheque arrives.
happy with my OG X1's, however

I actually still prefer the look and layout of the original X1. The brushed metal look is just way cool!!

If that ends up being the case I'll have to stick to my old one. I don't need anymore cables for my DVS set up

The first bit of digital gear I've wanted in a long time. Looks like a great improvement on the old model. That touch strip and loop size display is gold!

If they can nail platter controllers as part of their modular designs they'll have plenty of customers buying, myself included

The fact they're releasing an X1 Mk2 before an S4 Mk2 is rather telling tbh.

EDIT: Although, saying that, the X1 DID come out first.

Man NI is cranking out product. Makes sense the X1 has been out for a whole without a update.

Looks real enough to me, and the touch strip makes me believe there might be a Maschine mixer add-on somewhere down the line too

The needle strip on my CDJs is capacitive too.

Is it even real though ? Why would they not print the "secondary" function of a knob or button on the face plate like the original X1 ?

1 example of the benefit of one fx per channel is the delay freeze effect which is very popular.

I actually like that idea better then clicking down on the knob, every now and again I accidental pick the wrong the track either side of what I want

would assume shift would activate cue points 5-8 as well

EDIT: In case anyone hadn't noticed, it's got the orange USB socket of the F1/Z1 vs the X1's white one as well, which is another little detail supporting the fact it's probably real.
