With news of the new NI Z1 I was looking at online retailers and came across this at one of them

http://www.pssl.com/Computer-DJ/Nati...-DJ-Controller

Looks good.

I have not seen it announced anywhere so it looks like someone jumped the gun.

Pretty sure it does; Shiftee uses it like crazy in the Z2 demo video with timecode.

Not sure why the thumbnail on here is of the section where I compare against the original X1... I assure you, the video is about the mk2... I'm not a total wally!

I got hold of one this weekend and did a walkthrough/demo video, I'm sure it's not 100% comprehensive but I covered as much as I could:

I'm itching for more info on this controller, perhaps everyone is enjoying it too much to comment?

Hey Karlos,

Do you know if it's possible to switch strip modes on the fly without going into preferences?

The video seems to show it's possible, but as of now the X1 manual download links to the old X1, meaning I can't read the manual to see how the mapping works.

LOL my CMD Micro is in permanent use now every thursday as a Virtual DJ controller.

I love this little setup. Using it at a bar gig and a gig in an attic (in a club) every week. Super sleek setup and my shins don't take a bashing from the S4 flight case (well, only on Fridays and Saturdays now).

That looks super cool Karlos! I guess your CMD fells jealous over this setup

Some stores have started selling before the release date.
I guess 4 days early is understandable as its the weekend and foot fall in stores will be massive.

Some stores always jump the release date.

Pimped mine out last week with Chroma Caps.

Got it at GC? I just purchased my first x1 less than a month ago and was waiting until august 1st to return it to get the mk2. I've called my local GC before and they said to just watch the website to see when/if the mk2 would be available but even today there is not even a spot to preorder the mk2 on their website...this makes me very excited! Even if someone messed up, I'm stoked over the possibility of getting the mk2 in store soon!

Messing with it when I get home. Im worried it won't show up in the controller manager in the traktor settings since it hasn't been officially released yet

I know! I was confused as hell. It was the only one they had in stock too. Asked the guy at GC if it was a demo model and he said it wasn't.

I'm believeing you can't use the touchstrips to nudge or bend the track, if your using time timecode. I would love to use either one

Hmm, not really with the current layout in my opinion although I must say i havent given it much of a go.

I have actually remapped the bottom FX knob (I don't need 3 FX) to be the pitch fader. Works really well and its a one hander and its instantly there for little tweaks rather than pressing SYNC+ENCODER. I can then pitch bend with the touch strip really easily.

Doing it like that, then its definitely possible but you lose an FX knob. Although Im sure I could keep the FX knob and use a modifier for pitch bending but I'm happy with the way it is.

Also I dont have the BPM in the display using my remap but if Im beatmatching Im listening not looking.

How is manual beatmatching on these then? With the combo of encoders and touchstrip? Easy enough?

Yeah, I believe the pics maybe a bit misleading. Purple means there is a Hotcue stored. When the button is pressed it turns Blue.

cool, I want one now, I made a mapping for the ddj-t1 a while back that did some stupid things with the touch strips, I'd love to have something that has better touch strips than that. I was considering a novation twitch but this is probably easier to add to my setup, I'll have to wait for another VDJ user who specializes in mapping NHL to VDJ before I believe of getting one though.

Yeah that.^^
Playing around with delays is awesome. Hit the strip at a certain point and get a one delay rate, hit it at another and you get the corresponding rate. There is also visual feedback on the strip to show rates or percentages (0% 25% 50% 100%) etc.

does it send a relative CC message in one mode for pitch bending, and an absolute message CC for effects, meaning if you hit at 80% of the pad you will change the effect slider to 80% ? or do effects remain relative, meaning you swipe to change the value ?

Touch the Touchstrip - X1MK2 outputs a MIDI Note On.
Release the Touchstrip - the X1MK2 outputs a MIDI Note Off.
Move your finger on the Touchstrip - X1MK2 sends out a MIDI CC value corresponding to your finger's position on the Touchstrip.

Yeah it was specifically designed for traktor pro so no traktor Dj support iirc.

Encoders lend themselves to permanent pitch changes better anyway. Thanks for clearing that up Karlos. When I was reading about it it sounded like it just did something with the beatgrids to make phase changes instead of the pitch.

Pitch bending with the touch strip is incredible accurate but to do both at the same time would not be that easy as you would need to use both hands on the same side of the X1.
