I want to start a thread where everyone can see all the custom gear that has been created by other djs here at Dj Tech Tools. Post a few photos of your set up and a brief description of what you did.

Hey Ean,
My friends recently opened up a business called Humboldt Hydrographics. I had them hydrodip my midi fighter pro. They painted it silver and then dipped carbon fiber flames and pinstriped green around the flames. Just to make it pop off I had them dip each button with zombie faces. Hope you enjoy it. They would love to do faceplates for you guys. Wood-grain, camouflage, skulls, anything you guys want. update, i've done a bit more on the mixer project, but as expected the teensy3 arrived this morning and it is amazingly small, so i might spend a little time playing with that.

I'm flat out busy right now ...but I found these on my FB page .... one the left is my first Kontrol S4 (a year before it came out). I fitted everything into a large flightcase, it's got an Audio8, a Hale brain for extra buttons, XLRS, RCA's etc on top for easy access.

I'll get around to photographing everything one day, the build at the moment is a mixer retrofit. There's a thread in here somewhere about it. I'm only at the programming part at the moment, getting the most out of a teensy2++, but the teensy3 should be arriving very soon, and I may have to stop building and start looking at the possibilities a 32bit ARM cortex chip will give me ...especially 5 point touch

I have so many modded devices I should photograph them all, but also I forgot to make a build log for those.

If I'm playing devils advocate, it's possible that he purchased TP2, then purchased the TSP upgrade without the NI card. If the TT is in USB mode I don't believe it will conflict with the other soundcard.

probably the Timecode support without any NI scratch certified Card/Mixer...

Woah! Two mods I was believeing of doing on the same page! I've been trying to figure out the best way to frost the clear plastic on my vci100 jogs too! i was considering just sanding the bottom surface, so that it gets a frosted glow from the leds beneath it, but leaving the top and the edge with the original polished finish. That way you can get a bit of the frosted look without there being a porous surface to get all grimey from being handled so much.

a friend of mine has a CNC and has offered to help with the case.

Cool mods.
At some piont I will be revamping my VCI 100. Diff coloured LEDs for some functions and a total respray on the top plate.

Plus sandblasting the clear jog wheels to a frosted finish. ;-)

For text on the buttons I have come up with a professional aplication. Get lettraset... apply to clear acetate squares the same size of the buttons and apply inside the buttons using a thin film of pro photo mount spray. Looks good........ this technique is used in building props for film.

I have worked in film as an Art Director .. and production set designer. ;-) and have a degree in Fine Art. So I know this works... but skill is required and patience.
