I want to start a thread where everyone can see all the custom gear that has been created by other djs here at Dj Tech Tools. Post a few photos of your set up and a brief description of what you did.

First post on the community s, but have been on this site every day for aaages.. Looking at getting the VCI 100 arcade soon hopefully

Anyways, just went through 15 pages of this thread, pretty much amazed by everything that has been created.. The homemade keyboard was pretty sick, might have to look into making one of them someday!

Cheers

Its pretty easy to get a nice carbonfiber effect with a few cans of spraypaint and 10mins practise on some scrap board.

Any info on where to get the automotive carbon vinyl? This looks awesome! I'd like to combine it with a DJTT overlay

The Omni controller has very easy to rub off graphics which is hard to believe since Numark has been making mixers forever. Anyway this was inspired by my TSI that is geared towards controlling all four decks on Traktor Pro with the Omni. The Red section controls the FOCUS deck. So to mess with Deck C/D this section is used. The Silver section is Effects. The black section is stock deck A/B control. Ideally live I would use two Korg Nanopads to hit cetain things quickly vs. scrolling to the deck and putting it in focus for the Red section but this way I don't NEED the nano pads if something goes wrong or breaks or is lost on the way to the gig.

I'll post my TSI setup in Midi Mapping section.

your arcade-button mods inspired me very much!
i built this controller december 2008-february 2009.
the interface is made for ableton live.
i have a 4 track-based setup.
i render my tracks to 4 groups: bass, drums, instruments and vocals.
on the left side you can see the 4-track setup with start, stop, solo and effects for each track.
the middle part controls the master channel (navigation & effects).
the buttons on the right are used to trigger samples and additional effects.

i used a 19" flightcase, closing the top transforms it to a... case

when akai released the apc i was a bit shocked because they created a machine that is doing what i wanted my controller to do but of course with a lot more possibilities.

the biggest disadvantage seems to be the lack of visual feedback- even though i didn`t have any problems with that while performing.

i hope you like my controller- if anyone is interested i can post more pictures and information.

It's really cheap...less than a dollar for a 8 1/2" x 11" if I remember. You can squeeze two of them on a page. All you need to do is print it out, get it laminated and use a Xacto/hobby knife to cutout the holes.
Thanks! My wife actually has a laminator...I'll give it a go

This was my first Arcade button DIY project from the ground up. I'll call it the Arcade Cozy because it wraps the VCI-100 in a bath of arcade buttons and knobs.

I used the MIDI-usb board from Spark Fun. This was inspired by my upgrade to Traktor Pro where I wanted to take advantage of 4 decks worth of Hot Cues (This is pre-VCI 1.3 update)... I used a hardware trick (special configuration of ground wire) along with some funky Traktor mapping to use the cluster of 5 arcade buttons in the center to do some crossfader cut effects. (It sort of worked,...).

The top deck is 3 feet wide, for future plans to install an arcade trackball with a few more arcade buttons... but, I probably won't get to that anytime soon...

This was fun, but the whole deck is a bit too big. I only get to DJ while the new baby takes a nap, so I need a smaller set of buttons that I can more easily get to...

Anway, thanks to the DJ TechTools and Spark Fun for the inspiration... I'm looking forward to the new DJ TechTools DIY arcade button kit... that looks simple, yet useful (and of course, super cool)....

coool,
dangerboy
