It won't have the pioneer logo on it, so that must shave a few 100s of price

They are funktion 1 speakers they look asif they are from the resolution 3 or 4 range. 90% of the worlds top clubs use them, funktion 1 are also big in churches, they generally get funktion ones with a little less in your faceness. As the top end clubbing business model and church business models are in alot of ways very similar.

PS now NI are releasing a full mixer with midi im hoping they will also add video

YAY! i guess one could use the makey makey brain and connect it to the most delicous pinaple pizza out there. so you have a nice controller plus something to eat while spinning

(sorry for the derail )

I do find it surprising that the 62 has plastic posts...but then again almost everything is becoming lower quality. But honestly, this product will only have a lifespan of maybe 3 years so why even believe of putting it past that....This is not comparable to the rane 62 yet....the 62 has onboard effects if I recall correctly?

I've only used the 68 and that thing is amazing but also 4 times the price of this unit.

Basically, put your money in, consider it an expense of 200 a year to use this mixer and then scrap it in 3 years because by then it will be so outdated that no one will use this technology anymore. You will probably have a warranty for 2 of those 3 years so you only have to be careful for one year....big deal.

I'm all for the hype and speculation that comes from teaser videos but I wish NI would have included a release date for more info like Pioneer did in their recently 2000 Nexus teaser.

I'm not judging the mixer, rather the surprising use (by Rane standards) of plastic pots. It's no secret that metal pot post are superior.

LOL

I had an S4, jog wheel response was good for a controller. The "press down" system sucked though. Best jogs on a controller are on the VCI-300 (and i compare this to an S4, Mixtrack, VCI-100 1.4).

Just because someone's opinion is different from yours doesn't mean they play dubstep. I agree that the S4 jogs are better than low end pioneer stuff and I can't stand dubstep.

Please don't be a dick about it. Some people will have a different opinion.

My opinion is that arguing over platters is pointless since this hardware 'll be used with either TTs or CDJs.

CDJ's don't count - we're talking about controllers. Though I'd argue that NI's platters hold their own against Pio's lower end CDJs. Your assumptions are unwarranted; no need to be a dick.

I hope it has double USB connection like the Rane stuff. (USB A, USB B)
So you can have a smoother transition with another Dj that's using a laptop, and the USB hub would be great!
But not 2, there need to be more, i'm already using 5 extra USB slots now.

I was surprised as well. Rane's techsupport is second to none though. Great company all around!

You believe the build quality of the s2/s4 is higher than that of the CDJ 350 and 400......? Granted the 350 and 400 are cheap, but the "touch" on the jogwheels on the S2/S4 is a giant button that goes "clunk" when you push it down... Do I need to go on?

I'd disagree a little. The body of most NI devices is nice and sturdy but i'll agree it's knobs and faders where they are lacking. I'd be willing to pay more for this device if I knew they had made some increases to the design quality of the knobs and faders.

Amazing concept with mediocre execution.

But that's just my first impression. If the price is right this could still be a quality product.
