Sample decks, loops, FX etc. are the next level. If your mixes suck without them, they won’t get better with them. Oh how many evening
s have been spoiled by some clueless guy overusing the beatmasher.
What's new!
If you are new to my FX Jogs mappings, you can go back through the old threads starting with this one and have a nice read. You can get an idea what you are getting into. If you want to start at the beginning, have at it. Please note: There are two different mappings in the download below. One is the "Builder" and only has one FX mode just as an example FX grouping, so those who are interested in mapping their own effects can have a go at the other 13 modes. The second version is the "FULL" version and is the one I'll continue to add effect groupings as I get suggestions from other users or come up with my own ideas. The FULL version 5.0 beta only has 6 effect modes at the moment. You can read up on them and a bit on what they can do in the documentation in the download. This first version is a BETA and is not ready for live performances. I have added some documentation in the download, but the section for mapping new effect groupings is missing and will be added for the gold version. I hope to have the gold running in a couple of weeks and I hope to spawn some creative juices for those effects wizards for some ideas on new and cool effects groupings. This mapping opens a whole new realm of FX jogs. Copyright and Usage Anyone can use this mapping free of charge for their own personal or professional use. It MAY NOT be uploaded to any other web site for download or passed on to third parties in its original or modified form without my authorization. Downloading the pakage below automatically signifies your acceptance to these usage rules. That's it! I hope you like is and as always, have fun! I am looking forward to any and all constructive feedback. scamo
Britt Roback 09.05.2012 | Cheers for your reply Scamo. You need to prioritise my friend. Lol. only joking mate. At the moment I'm using the default mapping with a MF mapping for my launchpad. So it's all good. Be interesting to see what your next mapping will bring to the party. Keep on keeping on |

Britt Roback 08.05.2012 | Hey Scamo. Are you holding out until 2.5 gets released before you release your good version? |
Rey Holubar 09.05.2012 | Which mode of the DJTT S4 mapping are are you talking about in particular? scamo |
Delena Katherman 08.05.2012 | No need to apologize! Your effects are great. I just got inspired by a couple of the DJTT effects and wanted to flesh out a few ideas. I've actually spent the last couple of hours messing around with your effects, and I really enjoy them. The thing I miss personally from the DJTT mapping is the long bouncy fade when you release the jogwheel and stop the track/sample. Everything just trails off nicely and and doesn't feel so abrupt. If you could add some of them to your mapping, it would be badass. Hope you decide to do it, and I appreciate all your hard work! |
Rey Holubar 07.05.2012 | It's not really that hard at all, if you know how to map and understand the concepts I've set up. I just have to explain them so everyone will understand. I'll consider your suggestion, since I only have come up with two new ideas in the last couple of weeks myself. That would mean we would have 11 FX modes. Still 3 normal modes left to fill. I believe the DJTT S4 mapping also has 4 more effects with the sample deck controls. Maybe I could borrow a couple of ideas from there too. I sure am sorry I don't have more experience with using FX and knowing what is good and what isn't. And then there are the incremental effects, which we still have 12 open slots to fill. I really need some ideas here too. Experimenting until something sounds right is almost impossible for me, because I can't really say what sounds right or rather, I have no idea if what sounds right to me is also what everyone else would like. I guess I just have to map what I believe is good into the mapping and let everyone just try it out and wait for feedback. FYI, I am also working on a couple videos too. One on how to add your own effects groupings to the Builder version of the mapping and the other explaining how to use the Full FX Jogs mapping in general. Then I am believeing about making some more videos on how to use the effect jogs to do different transitions and how to use the effects to liven up a track and make it "your own". scamo |
Delena Katherman 07.05.2012 | Since there are so many problems with the DJTT S4 mapping, would it be possible to add the 3 preset effects from that mapping to this mapping? I have lots of problems with the DJTT mapping, but Scamo's works great. However, I would love to get the DJTT effects back to finish off some mixes. How hard would this be to do? |

Rey Holubar 03.05.2012 | I am back to fairly happy with NI. Here is an official statement for the community. http://www.native-instruments.com/fo...d.php?t=166665 scamo |
Fannie Portilla 03.05.2012
Rey Holubar 03.05.2012 | Yes, and it also looks like they will actually step it up a notch with an open API for mapping. That is tremendous news, because it could possibly mean we "mappers" will actually be given an much better tool to create new mappings with and that makes me happy again. I hope NI just follows through on what they said to DJTT. Thanks again DJTT, for getting down to the real facts with NI. scamo |
Fannie Portilla 03.05.2012 | Maybe this can calm down everyone a little bit: http://djworx.com/mapping-traktors-r...cks-the-facts/ It seems, tha NI will open up the mapping somewhere in the future. |
Kandi Odom 02.05.2012 | F*CK NI am not buying shit from them anymore ill guess i will sell my S4 and just go the Ableton way!!!! I was expecting this remix decks by the minute and this is what they do! So SCAMO i totally feel you bro you put so much effort on a mapping to make their controller (S4) the greatest piece of equip for their software (Traktor) is a fu**** shame that they came out with this crap!!! I really hope they believe their stuff correctly and maybe delay the release of the 2.5 and the F1 and do their shit the right way!!!!! (Sorry for my language but this is really frustrating) |
Kandi Odom 01.05.2012 | Damn you NI am waiting on the same thing before buying the MF3D!!!! |
Rey Holubar 30.04.2012 | The F1 controller will be the only controller on the market that will be able to control all of the new Mix Deck functions. Every other controller, including the S4, will only be able to control a total of 8 of the 32 possible sample slots at one time. (which is just like it is now with the sample decks). No one will be able to map any other functions other than those for the first 4 sample slots of each Mix Deck. So no, you won't be seeing a host of mappings. You will see probably nothing, no new mappings really, because NI has locked down the ability to map the Mix Decks via Midi. They say it is an issue technically. I say that is "BS!". No, I don't have a foot pedal. I am also very wary of buying an F1 now and I am even wary of continuing to work on this mapping knowing NIs direction is as it is. I am going to wait for an answer from NI's support on my question about the technical issues the new Mix Decks have and why they can't be controlled over Midi, before I make my final decision. scamo |
Fannie Portilla 30.04.2012 | Traktor 2.5 will be limited in this way, that only the F1 hast Full Controll of all features of the remix Decks. Other controllers only will have the same controls, like the sample decks now, with a few improvements. |
Britt Roback 30.04.2012 | gonna be interesting to see what happens then, I can see host of mappings coming out from native, traktor bible and DJTT. What do you mean by native has only made the f1 work with the mixdecks or do you mean sample decks?? I would presume the f1 is going to be pretty tight in terms of usability with the sample decks. 8 samples per side will be ok for me though, i mean howtdoes one need hey?? are you getting an f1 and do you have a footpedal? sorry for asking these on your mapping thread, so after this i wont ask anyore i promise |
Rey Holubar 30.04.2012 | Um, NI said they are going to bring out a new mapping for the S4 to control the Mix Decks, which should work with my mapping. This is just an assumption though. We'll see. The S4 mapping will, however, only control 8 of the 32 samples in each Mix Deck and if you want to control both, you will have to buy an F1. NI has stupidly designed the Mix Decks to only work with the F1. No other midi device will be able to control the complete Mix Decks. scamo |
Britt Roback 30.04.2012 | With the new sample features. With the layout of the s4 there is a possibility to use 12 buttons. I am believeing of getting an f1 anyway but was wondering if some clever soul would create a TSI for decent usability over samples. If native created a default map it won't affect yours |
Rey Holubar 30.04.2012 | Default mapping? For what exactly? scamo |
Britt Roback 30.04.2012 | Cool man. I thought that would be the case. Because the clever soul rejigged the mapping for the launchpad he also changed the effect order. Not too worry. Looking forward to your "gold" version. I love this map anyway but any enhancement will be dope. Do you believe native will release a default mapping for 2.5? |
Rey Holubar 30.04.2012 | My mapping is based on the order of effects set in the Midi-Fighter mapping (due to popular demand). If your launchpad works with the MF and you are using the DJTT mappings for the MF, then the order should be correct. It is also really not too hard to change the effects in the mapping either. With the release of the gold version, which will be the release after next, because I am going to make the next release 4 deck compatible, I'll also be including a table of the effect groups showing you which effects are in each group (plus some more information). With this table, you can easily reassign the effects, so they work with your own effects order. scamo |
Britt Roback 29.04.2012 | could you do me a massive favour and change your effects to mirror this or email me the with the effects ammended its just i have a launchpad tsi with the mf and this is how the creator of that map did it. Its just so i try them both out . Daniell Kosharek 25.04.2012 | scamo Our S4 super-hero! |
Rey Holubar 25.04.2012 | FYI, I am in a nice email discussion with NI's support and we are discussing some of the issues Traktor and the S4 has with FX Jogs. The suggestions I have made to them are: 1. Get FX Jogs working with Decks C and D as Sample Decks. 2. The preset regulation of the 4th FX knob (third effect) should be taken completely out, as it makes mapping the third effect a PITA. 3. When FX Jogs Mode is switched on for a deck and you switch to another deck and back, Traktor should remember to keep the FX Jogs on. At the moment you have to keep pressing FX jogs back on, which is a PITA for a really fast workflow. The nice support person will hopefully bring these issues up with NI development and should they be corrected, then my mapping will rock even more. Now I am sort of stuck in a rock and a hard place. I wanted to make the mapping 4 deck compatible, but if NI makes these changes, then I would have to take a different approach. Hmm...what to do, what to do...... scamo |
Shirley Caponera 24.04.2012 | Muy buen trabajo amigo, Muchas gracias por compartirlo. |
Britt Roback 23.04.2012 | Great news on the new effect groups. Youve done so well thought man getting to it where it is now. Loving the touch of jog wheel to load tracks as its very responsive and just so user friendly. Only just got my S4 so am totally learning new tool. Dont really play that many samples well not yet anyway. Well see in may whether it will be worth it. Be interesting to see what Native do with the S4 and further map to rock out 2.5. Im sure DJTT or another creative soul will be creating a new map that upgrade. I believe the S4 does have a capasity to have a decent map for the new features. Do your tempo faders when nudged jump around quite abit too. I wonder if my launchpad is conflicting. I'll take it out and see. |
Rey Holubar 23.04.2012 | Hehe...you should learn the indicator lights. I will be adding more effect groups to fill in modes 6 and 7 soon. scamo |
Britt Roback 23.04.2012 | I just checked and my effects are as should be. The guy who created the launchpad TSI changed the effects up a bit. Gonna be immense learning this bad boy. For easier work flow and also for the likes of me who will probably never in a million Sundays be able to fill the other effect modes could you move mode 8 to position 6. Just a thought as presently I have to count through the two empty modes. |
Rey Holubar 22.04.2012 | Hi DysfunkDJ, Thanks! The mapping only has modes 1-5 and 8. All other modes (8 of them) are empty. So what you are saying is correct. I had put AoM's Sweep Drama effect in mode 8 just so people would see how the added 7 mode "slots" look like from an indication perspective and I figured too, having transitional effect modes "higher up" makes a bit more sense, as you would need them at the end of a track too. On the "the effects have changed slightly" comment. Yeah, you can change what order the effects are in and this mapping follows the Midi-Fighter order by popular demand. So if your mapping has a different order of effects, then it won't work completely right. You're going to have to correct them in either your mapping or in mine so they match. You just reminded me too, I actually need to also make an export of just the mapping and not as a full blown TSI, so it can be added into a multiple controller environment. Doh.... scamo |
Britt Roback 22.04.2012 | First of all let me just say this is one dope mapping. Big thanks mate. I have my s4 hooked up with a novation launchpad with a great midi fighter mapping. The effects have charged slightly or maybe the launchpad TSI creator slightly modified them. Either way it sounds dope mashing them up side by side. I am new to mapping and modifiers etc so please excuse me but from mode 6 and 7 appear empty now this must be for a reason. I just don't get the whole binary thing. Am I right in saying there are 14 modes to this map. I just press shift and gain to move along and back but how do I get the others. In simple stupid language would be great I also added the TSI to make my gains more sensitive and with your mapping linked in with my launchpad this thing ROCKS Thanks again |
Rey Holubar 22.04.2012 | @TheMighty FV - the mapping should work with the Midi-Fighter. You'll have to reselect the effect mode on the S4, once your finished using the MF and want to go back to the S4. @Kruse Control - To change the effect modes in Version 5, you have to press the Shift button and turn the C and D deck gain knobs. scamo |
Maxwell Zubke 22.04.2012 | Probably also worth mentioning that the effects themselves aren't changing - just the parameters of them. |
Maxwell Zubke 22.04.2012 | Not sure if I am switching modes correctly. When I activate the jog fx mode - the number 1 effect knob (# 6 according to picture in guide) is always on. I can activate 2, 3, and mode LEDS (7,8,9 on picture). But again, the at first effect knob is always on (hope i'm not just too stupid to read binary!). I also cannot get the LEDS to change by using Shift+Mode to change effect modes. Could there be some carryover from the default mapping that I need to get rid of before I am able to use this properly? I tried importing a few different times and was encountering the same issues. Really liked what it was capable of! just not sure if I am getting the proper functionality out of it... |
Joesph Kasian 22.04.2012 | Before I install this will it work with the Midi Fighter IG mapping sir? I ask as obviously when that mapping is on, the effects seem 'locked' into what they want - so will they change when the FX are activated on this? |
