dan samo 04.12.2013 | I was a massive fan of the Vatican Shadow project since the very first release, was rabidly evangelising about it to whomever would listen - but the latest 'album' is some of his weakest material to date, I have to agree. I bought it whilst in a record-store on good faith/impulsivity, without having heard it, and it's definitely not as strong or evocative as his earlier work. To add insult to injury, he/Hospital Recs put out a follow-up EP about a WEEK after the LP release! With some even better reworks of its tracks and some other above-average stuff. Cheeky bast*rd! Never heard of a 2xLP release, I guess... definitely feel a bit burned on that one. I also picked up an MMM release, Que Barbaro/Casio Dub, and Fiedel's Trinidad/Positron. Totally forgot about them as I haven't even played them once yet! But Positron is an absolute banger. |

Talking record store digging with my buddy today which got me interested in checking out one of my local shops. I was looking for a couple things in particular that are old school, which of course they didn't have. But I did wind up with... John Talabot - DJ-Kicks Terry Lee Brown Jr - Side of the Shark Bernard Badie Featuring Dajae - Train N-Joi - Anthem Jamie Anderson - Nite:Life 013 Kerri Chandler - Ozone EP Motor City Drum Ensemble - The Revenge / grooveman spot - Looking Up to You Boo Williams - Looney Chunes Volume 1 - Back to the Future considering I was looking at some Theo Parrish stuff and MCDE's Raw Cuts #5 & 6, I guess it could have been a lot worse |
dan samo 03.12.2013 | Last few weeks: Objekt - Objekt #2 & #3. Pearson Sound - Starburst / Power Drums etc. DJ Sprinkles - June Remixes, Queerifications and Ruins. Bjorn Torske & Siob Latsyrc - Sex Tags Percussion Mix. Florian Kupfer - Feelin'. Vatican Shadow's latest LP. Samuel Kerridge's debut LP on Downwards. Tim Hecker's 2013 pressing of Mirages. Got some new replacement Nightclub MK2 elliptical styluses, too. Fitted them to the MK1 cartridge as I prefer its specs. Had spherical styluses before, and the special-ellipticals on the MK2's sure do add a little extra oomph! |

Yeah. We're having a nice time. It's a cool city. GREAT beer, too. It's all about the Dunkel. That stuffs sooooo good. |

Apron Severn Beach - We Continue - Audio Culture Label I've just bought these. I'm in Vienna. Sitting at the breakfast table. In the hotel. I can look out the window on Central Euopean Imperial grandeur and I'm on an iPad buying scruffy analogue techno. The GF is just staring at me. We're off to the Prater in a minute to get our Third Man fix. She's going to throw me off the ferris wheel for this. I'd better do a Harry Lime and Disapear. Congrats on the 1210s. Buying my 1200s way back in the mid nineties was still the best investment I've ever made. Wish I had the room to set them both up. |

Will Spinello 21.11.2013 | Well, none of those four are even available for preorder yet - except for Beato one I guess. 'Forthcoming' would be a better word... Actually, the TX Connect one seems to have vanished from trace since I first looked into it. The rest should be out before Christmas I believe. Have to admit, I was going to pass on the Eomac one but I love the cover - it's just so....I don't know; like one of those creepy Eastern European things we used to get on tv in the 80s. My mate's got Will Bankhead playing for Numbers this weekend (Joy Orbison too,) but I'm going to have to pass as I'm away on Sunday and I just can't afford it. Be a damn good set, I believe. Trilogy Tapes are really shaping up into something special. |

Will Spinello 21.11.2013 | Trying to be good. Failing. Eomac - Hither, Pappy (Trilogy Tapes,) Adesse Versions - Pressure - Make Love In Public Spaces. Cheap and Deep - Time Stops - Modular Cowboy. Everything else I want is preorder only just now. Tops of that list are TX Connect on Bad Mums, Austin Cessear on Proibito, Vereker on Trilogy Tapes, and the new Greg Beato on Apron - which, from what I've heard of it, is his best release yet. Some HARD acid on that one. |
Lawana Mileto 21.11.2013 | Went and bought the repress of Andras Fox - Erskine Falls on Home Loan Still a few more that have come out that I havent pulled the trigger on but they'll have to wait till pay day. Bought way too much this month. |

Will Spinello 16.11.2013 | I've bought nowt, although I did see the new DABJ is up for pre order on redeye - looks like another Vernon release. His last one was so good. A couple of things have caught my eye. I'll have a proper look tomorrow. Probably shouldn't with Vienna looming. And I really really need to get some money together for a new mixer. |
Lawana Mileto 15.11.2013 | Ok so too much has come out recently for me not to pull the trigger; Anthony Naples - POT on Proibito Cuthead - Everything Sunday on Uncanny Valley Rootsrax - Harlequin on Deeply Rooted House Vaib-R - Intl EP on Nous Cloudface - Devonian Garden on Mood Hut Let's see what else comes out. |
Wilford Aarts 15.11.2013 | We had an amazingly beautiful sunset the other evening
, and it reminded me of a track that I never got on vinyl, so I found it on ebay and now its mine forever! The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds with Danny's Detour Mix. It may be an oldie, but this sh!t is all kinds of twisted...love it! |

On a related Rubadub tip, (Dan from DABJ is the Rubadub store manager after all,) their second own label release is out. Might be in town tomorrow for the first time in months so I'm going to try and pick it up from the shop. Acidy wonkiness - not bad. No idea who it's by. They're keeping that one a secret so I imagine it's someone big doing the anon act. Been listening to the Kupfer/Vereker release on Russian Torrents today a few times. The two Kupfer tracks are so so good. God. I Love House and Techno. |
