S4 - What to carry it in
Posted on: 10.10.2010 by Julissa Serrone
Aside from the case meant for it, how do you guys plan on transporting your S4. I'm looking for a cool looking packpack that it will fit in, withough having to drop major bucks. Was looking at one of the old UDG bags, but I believe it's about an inch too small. Any ideas?

He's better than you. Get over it.

Could be like this:

Would have to be pretty big.

Nice digging. Theres zero chatter on this bag at NI...

i'm sure it provides great protection, and would be great for traveling.....but it doesn't look too practical. Just looks like "too much" back for a controller, headphones and some cables (and yeah a few extray things in your kit).

I guess it'll be something like this, but a bit larger to fit the S4 in:
http://www.udggear.com/shop/product....CD1A1&pid=1373

I would agree that S4 bag could/should look sexier than the MIDI controller trolley. S4 is quite light so carrying it won't be that difficult to justify a trolley ... although some people may like the trolley a lot!
Julissa Serrone
20.10.2010
WTF is a Trolley? Is that like a carry on bag with wheels.

Man, I'm trying to look cool with a sweat bag, not my luggage!!

Ill pop in to the rei and see if i can get some kind of measurements of the pockets on that bag.
Francina Decosse

I knew it! The S4 is so, so popular - even before it's on sale, the bag manufacturers will create a new set of bags for it.

Thanks for sharing the info!

Cheers guys!

This is an email I recently received when I inquired to the guys that developed the NI's Traktor and Maschine Bag (UDG)...
Looks like we can expect to see an NI S4 Trolley soon as well...

Subject: Bag for Native Instruments S4

Hello,

Excellent NI Bags you have for Maschine & Traktor... Question, do you have plans to release a bag that will fit the Native Instruments Kontrol S4? Please advise on whether we should expect something from UDG in the future.

Thank you very much,

Lxx

Great team we got here, I'm expecting mijne half of November, so around that time I'll be helpful, but I hope we found something by then. My uncle will be in the US beginning of December, so he'll be able to bring one back for me

Oh shit man, great find!!!! That looks like a sweet bag with plenty of pockets. We need to find a way to measure the inside pouch and make sure it fits the corners.

Now thats a pimp bag!!!

Of all the ones I've seen or have been posted, this one looks sturdy and with plent of pockets. I believe im gonna order this one!
Lorita Leazenby
15.10.2010
Well, that one doesn't fit. But... I believe this one will:
http://www.burton.com/mens-bags-lugg...efault,pd.html

I took my ruler, and tried to see if it would work, and I believe it would. With some extra space for a laptop, some clothes, and maybe even headphones if they fold up small enough. As soon as I get my S4 I will take it to the store, and try to see if it fits.
(Karlos, if you have some spare time, could you try it out? )

Would be especially perfect for photojojo, since it is actually a photo backpack
Julissa Serrone
15.10.2010
sweet! Let us know how if it fits. If not this bag, at least we have something to base a reference off to see if other ones of similar size will cut it. Thanks for going to check it out.

This looks like the bottom compartment would fit an S4, with enough space in the other compartments for clothes and cables etc. It's also carry on size, so when you need to take it to another country you won't have to check it, and have it thrown around. Very nice bag for far away gig's. Would even fit a set of small monitors if you play a tiny house party.

I don't know about "travel" case. The construction of that thing looks like it belongs in the trunk of a car and maybe the walk to the terminal that's it. I believe haze made a good point with backpack because even these courier bags get tiring when you are using them on one shoulder and a gig's worth of gear . Either way I know I am going to buy this bag. It's relatively cheap (1/2 the price of the suitecase) and it looks like it will fit everything I could potentially need and a 25 years warranty- whats not to love!

http://www.etrailer.com/Cargo-Bags/Thule/THTCDP-1.html

Alright I've got it. 40L backpack. There's no way in hell it won't fit. I like the fact that it has sinching straps to make it look not like a fat duffel bag.

[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Thule-Crossover-30-Liter-Backpack/dp/B002ZHCV08[/ame]

So this 10 L smaller version. It's an inch shallower, about four inches shorter but just as wide. 13+ inches. So That's all that really matters right? It's also 50 bucks lighter on my wallet and thats nice. I also believe it just looks cooler in pin stripe.
Julissa Serrone
14.10.2010
max you are relentless brother. I've been on Ebags.com for the past 3 days looking. This one I believe is too narrow. I believe the specs on the S4 are 19 x 13 x 3-4 So a bag 12 inches might be crammed. I just wonder in real world fitting if these bags have some stretch room. This is gonna be tough...the only ones I found that are a for sure fit are freakin huge!!! (and not "cool" looking either)
Kristian Buneta

http://www.burton.com/mens-bags-lugg...-luggage-packs

I FOUND IT!!!!

Probbably barely enough room for an S4+Foam+Lappy. I don't know about cables but I'm sure you can figure it out.

This one after editing has 12.5 inches width, which should give the extra .2 inches necessary to fit it.

I would be concerned about the bottom compartment on that Burton bag. Is it a separate compartment? Does the measurement include that compartment?
