S4 - What to carry it in

S4 - What to carry it in
Posted on: 10.10.2010 by Julissa Serrone
Aside from the case meant for it, how do you guys plan on transporting your S4. I'm looking for a cool looking packpack that it will fit in, withough having to drop major bucks. Was looking at one of the old UDG bags, but I believe it's about an inch too small. Any ideas?

I believe if I was going to use a regular backpack I would want some kind of padded envelope to put it in.

^ 12 inches is too short.

Dimemnsions are
19.7 x 12.7

The second one is pretty pimp though. Wonder how snug hit would actually be?

It looks like it would easily fit in some of the larger bags from Chrome like the or Timbuk2, maybe once something like a Decksaver comes out those will be more practical since they're mostly just one giant compartment.

The lowest quote I believe I got was around 230.00 USD total, from one of the stores I emailed. Gotta find which one it was.

Magma quoted me 85 euros for shipping to the US + cost of the bag.

yikes!

Get a good trash bag and just stick it in the bottom of one of the pockets. If you see you'll be in the rain wrap up all the critical stuff in the bag and it should be fine. The key is a GOOD trash bag like a lawn and leaf bag not your normal kitchen bag. When wrapping your gear the bottom needs to be on top so water can't leak in though.

The bag will take up very little room and you'll be ready to travel through a hurricane to your next gig. I shoot football games in the rain all the time with nothing but a trash bag protecting thousands of dollars worth of camera gear.

Just got my Magma bag delivered, and will give you a little review.

The bag comes with a lot of dividers, so you can use it for a lot of different things. When you want to fit in the S4 you have to rip most of them out though. Like you can see on the NI community , it easily fits a laptop too, and I have my nanoKontrol in there with the laptop, I'm pretty sure you could also fit an X1 into the main compartment with the S4 and laptop. The side pockets are quite big too, and the front pocket is huge, which makes me very happy, because my HDJ-500s fit in there even though they're not foldable.

The quality of the bag seems superb, I believe it'll project the S4 very well, as long as you don't throw it around. I owned a UDG bag once, I don't believe I'll ever buy another after getting this Magma bag. The only thing that I'm kind of worried about is how it'll hold when it rains. The zippers look and feel like they might be the weakest link in such an occasion. However, I believe if I use a spray can of that stuff you can use for jackets, the zippers will be able to withstand some rain. If it rains too much I'll just have to find a shelter.

Last is wearability, an I'm ver happy to tell you it feels great. If you have the S4 in there, just adjust the shoulder bands, and it'll fit snuggly against your back. You could easily walk for miles with this backpack, you won't feel a thing.

I hope you get fixed up mate. You deserve it after this bag hunt.
I have a Magma vinyl bag and the quality is excellent.

I may get the 50 in a few months. It's perfect.

Gonna see how I get on with the flight case when it finally arrives but my head is turning to the magma now !!!

The KS4 is flying off shelves in the US and the Magma bag is pretty much the only bag i have seen that it fits in perfectly.

Doesnt take a degree in business to work out that they could sell shit-loads.

I'm gonna email them directly and see what they say.

Also on their site mixware.net was the official US distributor for those that want to email them as well.
