S4 - What to carry it in

S4 - What to carry it in
Posted on: 10.10.2010 by Julissa Serrone
Aside from the case meant for it, how do you guys plan on transporting your S4. I'm looking for a cool looking packpack that it will fit in, withough having to drop major bucks. Was looking at one of the old UDG bags, but I believe it's about an inch too small. Any ideas?

I do lots of backpacking so that's really the only bags I have that I can try this with. Hopefully you can use some of these as reference. Oh, and if you can't tell I'm an Osprey fan.

S4 in Osprey Atmos 35. It fits in the bag and I can close the lid, but it's TIGHT.

The S4 is inside.

You can see the corners here.

Inside an Osprey Stratos 50. It's a tight fit, but not as tight as the Atmos 35.

Inide an Osprey Stratos 40. This is the best fitting of the bag and the only one that would have any room for padding. If I had to carry it in one of these bags it would be this one, but it's still very prone to damage.

S4 is inside

You cans see the corner here.

I am also joining the bag hunt as soon at I receive my S4. I have a huge suitcase that I'll use to take it to a few bag stores
Ahh, that's awesome! It sucks, public transportation is great everywhere else in the world, in all other major U.S. cities too. I used to live in Poland and we had a few cars, but I always used public transportation and loved it.

Do you guys believe the flight case will be too bulky to carry around (I do drive my own car around)? And is there a place for my laptop in the flight case?

Well as soon as it gets here ill be on the way to do the bag hunt and ive found quite a few that should hold the beast. Ill post info and pic if the store dont filp out cause im bring all this gear inside in the first place.

I agree with Haze. It's so much easier to throw everything into a backpack with a pair of clean undies, and just throw it on your back. Especially when you don't have a car, and have to travel everywhere by train or bus.

Also, a backpack doesn't drag as much attention in public transport as a big flight case with Traktor in it will.

its not so much about the price. I'll pay 200.00 for the right back. It's portability. Its much easier to travel with bag than a case, and it's also easier to store a bag at gig than it is a case.

Right now I travel with a Colombia back back with a VCI-300, VFX-1, MBP, and extra Audio 8. Much more than 1000.00 bucks worth, but it's so easy to transport.

If not now, i'm hoping something comes available soon.

Just buy it from DJTT duh! It's $169.99. Personally as a (brand) new DJ I am believeing of picking the flight case up - almost - for sure. The reason being I know for a fact it will keep my S4 safe, and because it doubles as a laptop stand.

Here is the link to the DJTT store with the flight case: http://ranking s.myshopify.com/produ...s4-flight-case

The other backpacks people have been posting are also great choices (well not really seeing how most of them don't fit the S4 "well"), but for $30 - $70 price difference, i'd rather be safe than sorry (especially since it will be holding over $1000 worth of gear ).

Those are just my two cents ,

Bad news on the Fusion DJ Workstation bag - they are not as flexible as we want them to be

They will wait for a confirmation that S4 doesn't fit well (it's an inch+ smaller, WTF). Then they want to wait and see what new controllers will pop out in 2011. Eventually they *may* expand their curret bag and make it perfect fit S4 bag ...

At least a decksaver will come soon ...

WTF have we decided on for a bag? I'm gonna end up carrying this to a gig in a garbage bag =O

Cool

it's very likely they'll update the model with 50-60mm across, but if they do it in China, it'll take ages for the first batch to reach Europe ...

Wrote them back - gave them hints where to look at to get a clue of what a market this bag would be ... we'll see.

Also wrote to the decksaver ...

Sent an inquiry for the Fusion Bag: http://www.fusion-bags.com/products-...ation-dj-47621

got this response:
Hi Kaloyan,

Thank you for very much for your email.

You are the second enquiry we have received in the last few days about our bags being able to carry a Traktor Kontrol S4.
As a result, we cut out some high density foam (does not bend) and placed in our Workstation DJ bag (SA-01 W DJ B) to see if it would fit.
If the internal sleeve was removed, we found that it did fit, although it was a bit tight. The bin could still fit inside as well as a laptop computer.
I have attached some photographs for you to see what I mean.

I would not want to say that the fit was perfect but it may be worth trying for yourself. Most stores or good online shops allow you to return a purchased
bag if it is inadequate.
Where do you live? If it is in the UK, the below online store is worth contacting and asking if they have a return policy:

http://www.northernmusiconline.co.uk...gn=home_banner

This online store also deliver overseas.

If you do buy the bag and your gear fits well, please let me know and we can put the information on our website. Likewise, we would like to know if the
bag is too small.

Kind regards,

Wendy Caldwell

Karlos made a great point that the pitch sliders and the outer efx knobs may suffer - It's a great point. A decksaver would possibly help it, but it's still not something what I would want to do for the long term.

I really like the design and the functionality of this bag. If it gets few more inches across, it'd be perfect - price is 89GBP!

I'll continue my communication with the lady and will let you know how it goes. Will try to enlighten him what the demand for such a bag is ...

Seriously consider a bigger bag guys.
The last Burton bag I measured was an easy fit depth wise, just the height and width at the cornes were tight. When I receiver the S4 I'm gonna take it over to the store and see if it fits.

Alright I've got it. 40L backpack. There's no way in hell it won't fit. I like the fact that it has sinching straps to make it look not like a fat duffel bag.

http://www.amazon.com/Thule-Crossove.../dp/B002ZHCV08

So this 10 L smaller version. It's an inch shallower, about four inches shorter but just as wide. 13+ inches. So That's all that really matters right? It's also 50 bucks lighter on my wallet and thats nice. I also believe it just looks cooler in pin stripe.

the side padding is about 3 inches - it could compress by a 1/3 of the wall on each of the sides. The zipper is in the controller compartment - that may be bad ...

man that's a monster of a bag. Inch is still a stretch. I believe if it was half an inch I'd give it shout....that's bad ass bag.

Lol, my bad, I just went straight for the first set of measurements I saw

An inch is quite a lot, os I'm still doubting it'll fit...
Francina Decosse
25.10.2010
Bag:
Internal: 470 x 270 x 380
External: 550 x 320 x 390

S4: 500 x 52(+ knob hight) x 322

it's about an Inch shorter (30mm/25.4=1.18'') in width actually. There's thick padding which could definetely get compressed - I bet it will fit if you desparately want it in LOL!

The bag is good! Thanks for sharing.
Lorita Leazenby

318 mm wide, the S4 is over 500mm, definitely will not fit.
