The Drum & Bass Thread (formally Drum 'n' Bass is dead?)
The Drum & Bass Thread (formally Drum 'n' Bass is dead?) Posted on: 19.08.2008 by Random X Every now and than, a musical genres foremost poet or pioneer will come forth claiming the style is dead. We've already seen it in punk, hip hop, metal, rock and opera already. Stupidest thing even, that this seems to be some kind of "retro- cycle" that passes along every decade. With the coming of styles like dubstep amongst others, purists are really keen on claiming that these styles are no derative or subgenre of our beloved DnB. Better yet, they utter the words "DnB is dead!" If your own creative impulses can't cope with a style any longer, why claim it is dead in the first place? Couldn't it just evolve into other (sub)styles? No, kill your idols instead! There seems to be no better way to start something new, than completely destroy any relations with the past. How can a genre with high BPM rates be dead, while comparing it to the ever so low BPM rates of the ever so vivid dubstep? Ofcourse, BPM rates are not a factor in this case, but people listening and enjoying DnB are. There are still heaps and heaps of bass-heads still jumping their shoes to the sounds of d&b pioneers as Krush, Bukem, Dom & Roland and all others still producing. Agreed that the old spirit needs to be revived. Still, it's no reason to don the old lass after that much joy she has given us. Drum and Bass is dead? It seems ever so vibrant as it was in 1996! | |
Brunilda Kora 12.04.2010 | That's a great film - but where is the link? |
Random X 12.04.2010 | LOLz... We were just flexing our fingers in between producing for the DJTT Album thread elsewhere on this community . So we needed a short break from the other Ableton Projects. We were watching a short clip from 'Oh, Brother where are thou?' and a few jokes lead to this short mashup. |

While living and producing in Uzhhorod, this talented producer quickly became well known in the city and all throughout the country. He quickly got air play on the National radio stations, music channels, television, and a collaboration with Ruslana. After the release of "Cyber" in 2003 on the highly respected Ukrainian label (Virus), his music was more frequently heard and played on the radio in Ukraine, Russia, and many surrounding coutries. With the high energy and wicked vibes of Redco's productions, parties in the Ukraine started to get overly crowded. As a result of the success he was seeing, his music began to get noticed by dnb heavyweights suchas, Pendulum, Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Concord Dawn, Sunchase, Ebk and Kano to name a few. In 2004, he produced his first solo album "Zenith", which, included a remix with Ruslana that won at Eurovision. From 2005 on, with, Dj Tapolsky, he began to experiment in more styles, but more predominantly, liquid funk, which directly lead to the album "Rankom" on a prestige Ukrainian drum and bass label known as "Fragments". Since 2006, he has been one of the leading drum n bass DJ's of Ukraine. Redco has been invited to such cities as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kiev, Obninsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Zaporozhie, Lvov, Smela, Ternopolj, Truskavetsj, and Ivano-Francovsk, and is most definitely leaving his mark on the scene. Redco has performed on stage with such DJ's as Ed Rush, John B, Goldie, Afrodite, Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Concord Dawn, Spor, Sunchase, Dylan, Optiv, Drumsound, and more. Currently out now on Ammunition's 39th Digital installment, Redco's "Fallen Legion" EP! 2 Quality tunes receiving some massive support across the globe from the dnb community. At the same time, they want acceptance from their peers, so they adopt the "uniform" of their generation, and that can be a lot more than just clothing and hair styles. I believe they're totally, completely, absoultely NORMAL. |

Arcelia Siebeneck 05.04.2010 | a lot of the tracks are only 1 min long anyway... |
Adolf Hit 05.04.2010 | Split the atom is out on beatport - 11.99 for the album , a sweet deal for 19 tracks, all of which are awesome. However because of territory restrictions on one of the tunes (diplodocus) which has been around for years now as a single I cannot buy the album at its album price. Instead my only option is to pay 2.49 ea for the other 18 tracks WTF! Time to dig out that proxy article |
Tianna Laguerre 05.04.2010 | usually not fan of this style, but Spor is something else... looking forward for dis one |
