Pioneer xdj-r1??

I never heard of this "controller" up until someone in a thread here mentioned it and uploaded some photos. In case you haven't seen them, here they are:

So it seems pioneer has gone the all-in-one route that numark and gemini have taken quite some time ago,
But i'm just wondering.
Is there a niche market for pioneer that's big enough to justify such a product? I understand it's rekordbox compatible and everything, but at probably the price of 2 cdj400 and a little mixer, will this market be big enough for pioneer to make a profit?

Also, do you guys believe that since this thing is probably based off cdj400s, it will support HID in traktor?

agreee, S4 or X1 version 2.0 better be one hell of a controller if they want me to stay and keep using a computer and Traktor

i understand the r1 is perfect for the bedroom dj who wants to play out with RB.. you get way more bang for buck with the r1

It has the large red progress bar also seen on the CDJ 350, 400, 800 so you can easily see how far through the track you are.

Seriously, needle drop waveform is the bare minimum.

I know you're supposed to know how far along you are in the song, but it's nice to see the waveform in case you forget.

there is two types of waveforms. Needle Drop (shows the full track) and Scrolling.

I was referring to Needle Drop.

i believe a lot of thought went in to this unit...

basically with this it allows you to use rekordbox, cdj's, and software... all within one device...
any one looking at the pioneer 850's must surly be tempted by this?

do you believe its worth swapping from 900's and a analog mixer to the xdm-r1??

i'm with ya, i have them on the nexus and love them, but it wouldnt be a deal breaker for me. That is not the reason I would not buy the R1

you can export you playlistes sorted by key and they stay sorted by kay on the CDJ2000 so I guess that way it's posible to do it.

10,000 track limit on usb devices, i'm out. So close pioneer but once again you missed on major points for some dj's

and, now that this toy is out, can you get back to fixing your flagship gear and update the RB iphone app to come close to the Remotebox app. Remotebox browsing area BLOWS AWAY the app we use on the 2000 Nexus decks, it's sad
Gaynell Rydberg

Did they already post the price? I don't see $1,000 anywhere.

I guess that really depends on what you do. A lot of effects and 4 decks? Stick with what you have. I wouldn't go near Traktor with this thing if it has similar Rekordbox integration as 2000's/900's. As in, I don't have to load tracks to thumb drives or burn them onto cd's, I can just plug my machine in forget about it and drop tracks into decks. Unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case at first glance.

Sigh, no waveforms.

When will they learn?

Also, looks like most of the Traktor-esque functionality isn't available in hardware, which means you HAVE to have an iPad to use it properly.

I guess the cool thing about this is that before while I was throwing cakes at people during my set I would have to put on a pre recorded mix on and fake DJ but now I can DJ from my iphone while throwing cakes!

In all seriousness, it seems great for a mobile DJ.
