CDJ-2000 looks like it has been discontinued- time for the CDJ-2000 Nexus speculation

So it looks like the CDJ-2000 is officially discontinued according to a few sources and the CDJ-2000 Nexus will be released in April.

Have any photos or details been leaked? I'm hoping for better screens and scrolling waveforms. What else could they add?

how is it a step backwards if you are not using software like serato/Traktor? you don't need an iPad or laptop at all at the gig now like with the cdj900/2000, walk in with a flash drive and play. If you are the type who likes to search a little during a gig, you just take out your iPad and it connects to your router as it normally would, not sure where you are getting the ad-hoc network idea like that is such a problem, adhoc would be more if you had to connect the iPad directly to your computer for lets say screen sharing, the iPad at this point just pics up your router as normal "if" you felt like using it,

I would love for pioneer to do this, right now I use their Rekordbox software simply because the search feature on the decks themselves sucks ass, I would love to just leave my laptop home and simply throw my iPad in my bag, if I needed to use it to search and drop, it's there, if not, it stays in the bag. Much better and precise then using serato in HID mode, thats a friggin joke right now

Ok? So I need a wireless router, an ad hoc wireless network, and an iPad to make this work. And all the iPad does is act as a track browser? I'm confused how this replaces laptops, it seems like a major step back from using one.

it doesn't need to integrate with your laptop on a gig, you use a wireless router, plug both decks wired into the router and connect the iPad wireless to the router so you have your own little network, this is how they all communicate, in my case where I use switch already, it would just be a matter of switching it out for a wireless capable one, so it's not far from leaving the laptop at home as you say it is I guess you didn't watch the video

IIRC, they integrate with a LAN switch, and a laptop, which then ad hocs the iPad as a browser. Pretty far from leaving a laptop at home.

new decks need iPad integration too, the new Denon decks integrate awesome with the iPad, plug in a usb drive to share between 2 decks, use the iPad as your screen to browse, search and drop tracks. Check this vid out from about 2:15 in

pretty great concept so you can truly "leave the laptop at home"

hahahaha i know that there are white cdjs and a white djm 900 but perhaps the new version of the cdj or djm (?) is also white. I mean he could also have just gotten a white cdj 2000 sent to his studio but I just have a feeling it's something unreleased.

that mockup is great, lol. it won't happen with a FW update though, the hardware most likely cannot produce moving waveforms on the fly, it would need a faster processor/video chip, the decks right now cannot even auto load hot starts so I doubt it can do moving waves

Basically I would want the scrolling waveforms through CD or USB and it would be cool if it was integrated advanced with traktor as well.

If this $500 unit can have color scrolling waveforms I don't see why a $1900 CDJ-2000 can't

Really though the problem is pioneer doesn't really have any competition in the tabletop player market at least- I mean the denons don't really come close to feel and the displays on the denons don't even compete with the displays on the 850

The refurb price from Pioneer directly is something like $2800 a pair, and $1900 a pair for 900s.

I know both DJDeals and ProAudioStar are both a little under $1699 list price, in case anyone was in market for one. Might be others around the same range, but I dnno.

thats cool, the couple of places I checked quick all say $1899 like G.C., PSSL, AgiPro, etc.... I am sure in store they are a little cheaper because you can deal direct but most online places say 1899

I believe the store price was about $200 cheaper at launch, so $1699, not sure why the price jumped, maybe demand?

Were they that cheap at first??!! What made them bloat up in price?!

My Djm-900 nexus has an MSRP or 2399 , list price of 2000 at most retailers. I paid 1650 out the door with no sales tax from guitar center with price matching. If anything, just ask for their typical 15% off. They usually give it to me. They also price match + 10% difference now at GC as well. Just make low offers to online retailers and have them email you a quote take it to GC and save...

thats totally ridiculous that the 2000's are up to 1900 a deck, When they were released they were a couple hundred cheaper, I paid under $1300 a piece for the decks, i wouldn't have spent 1900 though. Pio should start dropping prices a little,, their competitors have caught up feature wise and people will start looking around at decks like the new Denon that is more then half the price and has some more features then the 2000's
Alla Bluemke
31.03.2012
I don't know man. New CDJ 2000s now go for 2400. Street price is like 1900. Used ones go for 1400 and up a piece typically. Since they won't be used ones for a while I expect 2500 MSRP, and 2200-2300 from internet stores for a good 6 months to a year.
Hyman Werness
31.03.2012
[QUOTE=guiltyblade;454422]i wouldn't be too overly concerned about that. when the new cdjs come out they will be 2500s a piece.

I believe that is a little overpriced... maybe the MSRP is closer to that price... I'd expect an informed buyer to pay $1575-$1750 depending on what features are added.

Backlit LED screen w/ scrolling colored WAV forms -- STARING at you PIONEER

also side note, i don't see the importance of having my DJM-900 Nexus Traktor certified if you can't even get advanced HID support on to the flippin decks NI...

i wouldn't be too overly concerned about that. when the new cdjs come out they will be 2500s a piece. you will be able to find 2000s for like 1000-1200 a piece and your 900s for about 700-900 a piece.

I've been reading on Twitter from a few sources that the shops have almost sold out of the white CDJ2000.

I believe it was a marketing exercise to get rid if remaining stock (1000 units)

April is looking likely for a refresh???

I would speculate that their making each unit for even less than $300. From what I can see the three most expensive things in the 2k's are the LCD screen, The Disk Drive and the Touch resistive membrane (Im assuming its touch resistive) used for searching threw tracks. Everything else when bought in massive quantities cost next to nothing per unit. I would also say that the disk drive cost less than $20 pioneer have been using disk drives for years im sure they can get them dirt cheap from manufacturers.

I must agree though that when you take in R&D, manufacturing, packaging, marketing ect i would say the cost per unit jumps up about 40-50% bringing the price to more like $600 per unit so ya overall theirs a pretty hefty profit on 2k's.
