CDJ-2000 looks like it has been discontinued- time for the CDJ-2000 Nexus speculation
Posted on: 03.02.2012 by Romelia Stankard
So it looks like the CDJ-2000 is officially discontinued according to a few sources and the CDJ-2000 Nexus will be released in April.

Have any photos or details been leaked? I'm hoping for better screens and scrolling waveforms. What else could they add?

Hahahaha everybody is just TOO excited in my opinion. The 'hype' will go away and then all of a sudden, BOOM a new product range is born. But I thought you were serious too, hehe.

If only NI integrated advanced HID support for the CDJ's. I just love the way Serato did this with CDJ's. Timecode is a no go, it's like building a cheap ass sound system into a Ferrari.

Still lots of speculations but have not seen any diffinitve information. Firmware update for the 2000s was back in Janurary, all other Nexus items were realeased in April. Ill go with best case scenario to the hit the shelves (if they even do make a new version) is December.... The speculation is killing me, I want to buy CDJs but I want to see what comes out so either A) the price of current
2000s drop a little or the new version is that much better its worth the high price tag

no problem man, I never take these things personal, If we all worked the same way, the industry would be very boring from guy to guy, lol

the only issue I have with them is the slow search on usb drive but like I said, I just dont use it

How do you handle situations like failing HD's or laptops on gigs like that ?
I can switch to vinyl or cd in a heartbeat and always bring a backup LT's with a synced library.
fortunatel, knock on wood, I never had a drive fail "live", I do have my Rekordbox library with the essentials to get through events exported to an external drive so if my laptop fails, I plug in the usb drive and go.... works great and fortunately have not had to resort to it yet ... watch now toevening something fails, LOL

why delete tracks when i have plenty of HD space and the music is tightly organized? I really dont understand why you guys care if I had 1000 tracks or 100,000 tracks, the point was the CDJ's, lets get back on topic.
Hey brichi,

Great you don't take my post the wrong way, I just have a hard time to understand justifying bringing +20.000 tracks to one gig.
I also have a very large collection of digital & other media, but you can only play so many tracks in a gig...

I'm not the kind of guy that programs his set, I do bring a few 1000 tracks (one crate of vinyl, a box dvd's & laptop).
But sorting out music before a gig is have my fun...

I understand now that is just MY way of working, not THE way of working...and it appears that carying a collection of that magnitude is business as usual for the mobile dj's. Sorry to hear you have so much trouble with the cdj2000's, I was never aware of this problem and never faced it myself.

@Brichi:
I find your logic only works with other mobile DJs, such as myself. If you started out because you saw one of Ean's videos and learned everything on the web, then you can't possibly fathom why you'd need more than say, 2,000 songs. When you start DJing for others, as opposed to playing whatever you'd like to play for yourself, you'll find it necessary that your library grows exponentially

NOFI, but I don' call that dj-ing....you are a substitute for a jukebox. (+ 24.000 tracks).
Alfredo Tooher
18.05.2012
yeah, for now I just LINK my laptop to RB on my laptop and dj like that, works great, when I need to do video mixing I turn on serato and VJ the whole party, Just would be nice to leave the laptop in the bag or at home and feel comfortable using an external drive, either way its not a big deal, I love the decks either way, just looking for new toys like we all are
Romelia Stankard
19.05.2012
Well i really don't believe CDJ-2000s are aimed at the mobile DJ crowd. I would just be using traktor or something with better library management in that situation.
Alfredo Tooher
18.05.2012
hahahahahaaaa, I guess you dont do all mobile dj'ing, I have been builing a library for the last 25 years, from tapes, to vinyl to cd and so on, I keep all of my files very organized on my external drives and on my Macbook, being hard drive space is so cheap there is no need to delete any tracks because i like to have every song on me if possible so when the weird request comes up from a client, I have it and didnt delete it because of deck issues. other decks that have this feature without naming names can search just fine with mine and some friends libraries consisting of 24,000+ tracks. I would rather my client be happy that I have an odd ball request and carry ALL this music with then having to cut 10,000 tracks out of my library to make a deck search faster. If I was all club dj'ing, yeah, I would carry what I need for that evening because for the most part you play YOUR set you know a head of time and take minimum requests, but doing 4 mobile jobs a weekend, my sets vary all over the place based on type of party, age at party etc.... its not like it was years ago where we cleaned up our library becasue the vinyl cases were getting too heavy, adding another 1000 tracks 1 month doesnt make my laptop any heavier, just make my library more full of music I may one day need. i download 70-80 tracks a week from a promo only service, I may need 2-3 of the tracks but why not grab all 80 "just in case"

Why on earth would you carry 20.000 tracks ..
The real problem here isn't the CDJ, it's the way you build your library.

Did you analyse that disc in RB ? (& set HS )
If so, then something is wrong because it should search & load on the fly.

Any new features and funtionality would only add to an already ridiculous retail price.

Ps. I'm not worried about the value of mine (second hand, paid 2400 euro more then a year ago).

I'm probably the only one NOT amped about the new cdj2000.

I own a pair of the 'old' ones and not one thing bothers me about them.
I have an Ipad but not looking to integrate it in my set-up, X1 & MBP is all I need.
Have no problem with a portable HD, just analyse it in RB and searching will go smooth (use the ribbon for fast searching).

These are complex decks if you want to use 100% of their possibilities, try to learn about all the options they offer and you will not be disapointed.

THIRD PARTY CONTROLLERS:
Stage one CDJ integration: Improved Jogweel and Joglight integration for Pioneer CDJ-2000, CDJ-900 and CDJ-400

Just shows that NI are trying to show that they are taking the CDJ seriously, I'm guessing the new CDJs will be the first controllers of their kind to be Traktor certified.

Unless there been another CD deck or Midi platter controller only (not hybrid mixer) that's been certified

I doubt it. I can't find the message but i saw a guy (famous guy i presume) thanked Pioneer UK on twitter for letting him try the new CDJ.

This is seriously getting annoying. Not to mention there will be a delay between anouncement and release..
