CDJ-2000 looks like it has been discontinued- time for the CDJ-2000 Nexus speculation
Posted on: 03.02.2012 by Romelia Stankard
So it looks like the CDJ-2000 is officially discontinued according to a few sources and the CDJ-2000 Nexus will be released in April.

Have any photos or details been leaked? I'm hoping for better screens and scrolling waveforms. What else could they add?

AMENNNNNNNN!!! I just bought my DJM-900 Nexus (which is absolutely amazeballs), I have my HDJ-2000 in black AND I have my KRK Rokit 8" monitors which are the tits!!! All I am waiting for is freaking PIONEEEEEEEER to stop dickin' everyone around and either release their update to the 2000's or to sit down and shut their mouths!!! I am totally with wampaone. I will cop their new update if they are the same price as the 2000's right now. If not, I will get the current CDJ-2000's at hopefully $1300 a piece. I could probably get them for $1500 a piece right now if i do some sweet talking.

EDIT: If nothing happens in a very short amount of time, I will consider rocking two X1's...even though I realllllllly want CDJ's!!!!!!!

they are not discontinued, why would they be cheaper right now, and they go for $1899 in the US, Of course cheaper if you know people

I dont.... it is just wishful believeing... the 900 model is obsolete (soon to be i propose)... i dont see a mk2 coming for the 900. I do believe the 2000 mk2 is gonna be around the same price. I wish it were not so...

i'm ok with the prices until they raise them weeks after release, it's ridiculous that the decks come out at one price which people are happy about and buying, then they raised the price $200 per unit weeks later, no reason for that when obviously you were able to sell it at the original price

NEVER! Let me put it in focus for ya, Im sure no one has ever purchased a Ferrari because they hate ford mustangs...

2nd. while the perception of pioneers prices is strictly objective, i can tell you if we are taking about percentages, i make more off selling hosa cables or what ever cables for that matter then i do off a CDJ, or DJM, or any pioneer unit, so while pioneer may or may not make a killing off a CDJ, we make a similar percentage as we do almost anything we sell.
Agree with everything your saying except we are talking about margins for manufacturer not retailer. End users believe they are the only ones getting shafted and paying high prices because a product says Pioneer. They don't know how much a dealer needs to spend on stocking goods in order to get the best discount. If they knew they may feel bad for you cus i definitely feel for the dealer. It's expensive being a middle man for gangsters like pioneer. Forcing everyone to pay premiums so they can take in as much profit as possible. Maybe they'd make more money if they didn't need to provide 100 CDJ-2000's to every club in ibiza because they freeze all the time.

Also, Pioneer is a huge company and the CDJ or DJ business is a fraction of their revenue.

Money is in value gear. Something that retails for 1k but does what 4 CDJ's and a quality mixer can do. You sell boat loads.
You do sell boat loads. But because of the hate towarding controllerism, and the general statement that controllers will never be an industry standard (and that's true, no need to discuss that point), these people, if they don't quit after 6 months, will end up buying CDJs (or turntables with the rise of DVS).

And btw, how good is a business doing is measurable only via the number of sales.
It's the number of sales * margin that makes the income. And i'm telling you, Pioneer makes one hell of a margin with their overpriced products, just like Apple does. And since it's the best thing on the market (talking CDJs), you don't have much of a choice but to buy them.

If you're talking about CD players, I really doubt that it's true without figures.
It's easy, look at the "Show your setup" thread. Out of 10 guys that have CD players in their setup, i'd say 9 have Pioneer CD players.

I hear they will be doing an update to the djm-2000 as well, but more than likely it will be a djm-1500 or such name the 2000 is too new imo

no rush? it's been 3 years, lol

I just believe if they want this wireless thing to push, they need to get it into all their gear quick, just adding it to a bedroom dj controller isnt going to push it,

My guess is that Pioneer knows where the profits are, not in pro market with clubs slowly upgrading their gear, rather the semi-pro market.

oh well, definitely let down thats there no new pro product being announced. The aero is kinda cool, for bedroom dj's.

i agree, i wouldnt entertain any other CDJ other than pioneer...denon tabletops are good, but i personally dont like them, the rubber buttons feel nasty and they arent as intuitive to use. no-one else comes close

Numark is kicking the shit out of Pioneer. They keep gaining market share faster and faster by not catering at all to the old school pro market of CDJ's.

The Aero is them trying to do the same but the pioneer price is the problem.
very expensive.

Pio probably has 2 CDJ's ready to go. one with CD and one without. Depending how this unit goes they will probably decide.

LOL.

"Yes, this CDJ-2000 Nexus (C D J) doesn't support CD's, it's a tease."

I too can see them upping the display resolution and waveform control. They should also be improving the response time for people with huge libraries (it gets very slow currently).

Some build improvements would be nice, better USB jack's, a little sturdier on some of the controls would be nice.

I wonder if they would do some sort of integration with the RMX-1000.

I can picture the product announcement, "In the 2000 Nexus, we've stripped out the CD drive, because seriously, fuck you CD users, go buy Traktor, controllerism is THE FUTURE."

I WILL buy the new ones in time if they have the following:

USB 3.0 or Thunderbold ports (highly doubtful)
Touch Screen Backlit LED for browsing
HD scrolling wave forms like that of serato or tractor

and i would say slip mode but honestly i don't care about that i have the dim-900 for that

More than likely what will happen is I will hopefully purchase used 2000's for the same cost as current 900's and in time add new "Nexus Model" over time and have 4 decks. two for home and two for travel.

Traktor version of Ergo an insane DJ boom box instead of deliperatly looseing money they should just have made existing DJ gear cheaper.
The lost of their money on stupid choises like their controllers and the DJ pukebox are in the end going to make then next CDJ even more expencive to make up for their lost.
