here is a sound file with the ramp-up issue ,recorded with Traktor 3 vs. DjDecks...

the ramp-up is NI problem... if you stop the waveform with the mouse, release it,stop, release it,stop it... you can hear the ramp-up.it takes some mili seconds to start the track again full play speed...

I never had that problem using TPRO 1.2.6 and haven't seen it in the S4 software either. The only ramp up issue I was aware of was the VCI-100 problem, but that was fixed with the 1.3 firmware update. Maybe the 1.2 update before that?

hello, does the Traktor Kontrol S4 software has the ramp-up, has we do in Traktor 3/Pro?
I mean if you use the mouse or any controller to stop and release the waveform,it always has that ramp-up/delay in playing the track again,is that gone with the new software?
thank you

It's it's not very big though. I believe 156 samples and one shots.

No and and interesting side note is that in the manual the S4 software is referenced as Traktor Pro. I wouldn't read to much into that though.

When you use the loop recorder those are saved in your samples playlist as wav files so you can then load the, into sample banks. You can load into sample banks by either dragging and dropping or using the browse feature.

You record a loop with your Loop Recorder and put it in a sample slot, also 32 beats max.

After discussing with me wife, ordering one from DJTT this week.

mrs. tau:"you should support small business, screw GC"
me: "NI is big business dear"
Mrs. tau: "somebody has to make the stuff, but why should you give money to people like GC that lie to you every time you go in there?"
me : "Fair enough"

My wife is made of win.

Whatsup guys,

Let me tell you how much of a mission it has been to get some information on my pre-order for the Traktor Kontrol s4 on the DJTechTools store. I originally placed a pre-order on 10/17/10, at first when I checked my account it seemed that the $899.99 was taken immediately, so I thought that everything went smooth and I would get the s4 sometime in the first two weeks of November, right?, wrong. I ended up rechecking my account because of a member who made a post regarding the 10% deposit and how the money wasn't extracted from his account. I was on the same boat he was, I decided to call DJTT to figure out what was happening and why. Whoever I spoke to told me that they weren't doing the 10% deposit any longer and were just going to take the full amount either on this past thursday or friday. So I waited, and still nothing was done to my account, I'd figure they would of done it by friday in order to ship it on the first week of November (He stated I would of been part of the first batch).

$900 + is a big deal to me being that I am a college student and as of now jobless. I felt that wasn't being fully informed on everything. Basically, I felt really uncertain about having insufficient by the time DJTT 'decided' to take my money, so I called around and found out that Guitar Center had 1 s4 in stock. I jumped right on it, and yes I did pay more than $900, obviously, plus tax. But to me it was worth it, I knew at least that I had the money to buy then and there. I strictly pre-ordered the s4 from DJTT to support the website, and everything associated with it. I also was thrilled to have a DVD showcasing some tips by Ean Golden, but at the end of the day it just seemed less appealing to me due to the uncertainty.

Btw: I live in Charlotte,NC.

I'm going to post some videos and pictures as soon as I get it set up.

After 14 hours of uninstalling and reinstalling and eventually formatting my c-drive and installing Windows 7 again, it finally worked

But then the left jogwheel was doing weird stuff, the signal was lost everytime I pressed the top of the jogwheel in. Eventually a mod on the NI community gave me a couple of tips to solve it, had to get the top of the jogwheel off and re-position it again. Then calibrated it and everything worked, although it was very tiring and frustrating

Anyway, here are some pics!

cool pics. the s4 looks really pretty with all the lights

I'll just keep them mapped on my keyboard the way they are now anyhow. The point in kills is the quick clean cutout and cut-in. If you find two basslines that work well in each of two tracks that are playing, you can cut in and cut out at the same time and instantly trade grooves. It's a lot cleaner than using knobs for it; you can always hear the ramp-up with knobs.

I'm still annoyed there's no four-band EQ. Why do they even offer it when they don't support it?

Still, this is starting to look like about the best controller out there. It's the first thing that's made me believe about giving up my Bitstream 3x.

I don't see the point in EQ kills when you have the rotary control, it's only one hand move

I used EQ kill when I hadn't any controller

Unfortunately not... big shame in my opinion.

My own Custom Mapping will include kills as the assignment is still there in the table. Just gotta lose 2 buttons for it which ill probably take from the sample slots.

it is just a cut out. not to scale of a standard laptop but looks like the same size as my laptop. With the S4 i really do not see the need for it but always a good backup
