I had a good play with the DX at BPM today. ....Damm, that's a lvely piece of kit!!

I wish I'd have held back on buying my VCI 300 just a few weeks ago.

My only critisism isn't really about the hardware, it's about the 4 deck version of itch that accompanies the DX.

If you run a lappy with a smallish screen (e.g. 13" MacBook), you're gonna lose half the scrren to the deck waveforms. .....a big screen is essential!!

Hell no. Buy 2 vci's, get ean's knobs and faders, and the overlay (to make it look and feel better than stock). Then get a high end sound card (like the Audio 8). Maybe then you'll have what that is.

Oh and you have to keep everything seperate and you'll need multiple usb inputs to handle all that.

Not the same yo.

The 20 channels on the soundcard that was mentioned above is the same amount that is on the 4D. Which is equivalent to 10 stereo pairs. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same one. That would make it a mini 4D without the MIDI faders. They prob took them out because they really weren't that useful. I never use mine and seeing that Ritchie Hawtin's moved to the Traktor Controller from the 2D which doesn't have any either.

Why is it so expensive!! I really cant bealive that it cost nearly as the Xone 4D?
May it be use as a stand alone mixer (analogue) ? I guess you can

+1 You better go for 3d or 4d with that price level. You get more bang for the buck.

On the basis that the Xone 2D has an external power supply and a soundcard with fewer ins/outs plus less flashing lights etc, I'd be VERY surprised if it was bus powered.

but I thought that someone finally would release a controller with a dedicated analogue mixer section for redundancy.
Isn't the version of the XD with a dedicated analogue mixer just the 4D or did you mean something different?
Karine Noe

Well, "balls" is not really what I believe about it (I looks really nice)... but I thought that someone finally would release a controller with a dedicated analogue mixer section for redundancy.

My guess is that it won't be only bus powered, but you'll be able to use an external power supply.

Does anyone know if it's purley a midi controller/sound card or if the mixer unit is analouge/standalone? My chain of thought is: what happens if your computer were to crash? Would the mixer section of the unit still function?

Higher-res pic here for anyone who wants to see the controls in more detail:

Shame about the standard rotaries (as opposed to endless encoders + LEDs) for the FX units as this means no easy way to use all 4 units in TP 1.2 (without soft takeover).

Other than that looks pretty cool and hopefully has some decent LED feedback too.

I recon I'll be waiting to have a play with one before I reach for the credit card though...

If they came out with a statement that the sound card was similar to the quality of the 4d or audio 8 it would probably up the price a bit maybe around the 700quid mark but it would still be worth a good look.

Pitch fader... Er I like the rotary idea. Either that or they would need four pitch faders for each deck. (Soft takeover is a pain in the arse) Also look beside the jog wheels. The light seems to indicate the current pitch. I believe it's an awesome idea!

My issues are. What is the price going to be on this 20 channel beastie. (I am believeing up to

And while were at it....whats with the black buttons found on ALL of A&H units (including DX) that are impossible to see in the dark, and have no LED feedback.

I can spot 12 Buttons that have no LED and 7 endless rotarys that have no LED....

No EQ Kill buttons? unless its built into the EQ knob (like the VCI having two different CC messages on one fader knob) but I highly doubt it.

And please God let those NOT be "Rubber Buttons" I see....

* Includes a full Version of Itch software...
Meaning that if you own Traktor Pro you need to pay for the Serato licence to use it...
Guess it will be sold first as a bundle then later maybe just the controller...

Aye. That one bit me in the arse when I picked up a MOTU Ultralite... advertised as 20 1/4" jacks, was assuming I was getting 20 stereo... wrong, it was 20 mono. Or whatever the actual number was. Fantastic soundcard tho... served me well til I traded it in for Traktor.

need more details/patience (:

If this is somewhere in the range of 700 euros or under, it might just be my future weapon of choice.

finally 4 lines of faders and rotaries for internal mixing, I just bought an external mixer to have that kind of control and seriously felt that this was really anachronistic.
I really wondered why no one really did that before, too bad that it's gonna have an A+H price tag.

Very interesting still excited to see more knowing that it's going to be Traktor compatible.

I'd be interested to see how they deal with pitch fading as there isn't a traditional fader for that... Maybe those stripes to the right of the jog wheels are touch sensitive?!

It seems quite different from the 1D/2D in terms of the various controls so I'll be interested to see how they map each of those banks of buttons as standard

Bring on Saturday and more information!!
