New Behringer Kit

See http://www.behringer.com/EN/Category...rs.aspx?s=O500 & prices are on various pics at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...8621758&type=1

$99 - $149 for the modulars
$199 for the mixtrack type dual decks (with no balanced out - bit of a fail)

Need to see the build quality as ever with Behringer, but they do look nice

the F1 hardly seems like an alternative to the MM-1 PL-1 :P

what I like about the Behringer controllers is that they're modular... and so cheap (relatively) that you can pick them all up one at a time and one pay cheque at a time!

for some reason I've got a lot of (perhaps unjustified) faith that these controllers are going to be decent quality. I'm happy to wait for as long as they take to come out... there isn't really any other controller on the horizon that matches what I'm after as closely as the CMD series. That said, it's my Birthday next month.... what are the chances? :P

I've still got an audio 8 lieing around doing nothing at the moment. Reckon I'll grab an MM1 as well I reckon

and cheaper than a K2 i guess... probably 250usd for the MM-1 plus A2 which ofc also includes traktor. not too shabby... i do still like the idea of picking up a K2 but if the MM-1 was out now i may well change my mind.

believeing about it, an MM1 with an audio 2 with a full version of TP2 is a really great starting kit. Hell, if there are no major issues with the MM1 build quality etc, its a good simple pro kit!

the PL-1 and MM-1 do look very cool but don't see how an F1 would replace them? i believe i'm going for a K2 over an MM-1, mostly for the button section, more buttons overall and buildin soundcard. but as a pure midi mixer the MM-1 does look pretty sweet. there again - if the MM-1 was released "soon" then i could probably get that and an audio2 for the same price as the K2...

the LC-1 kind of goes head to head with the F1. not full rgb, but more pads, more extra buttons and the 8 encoders could be used to control volumes and filters on the 4 slots...

I believe CMD will accomplish both of those goals regardless of whether or not another company tries to copy them.

The CMD modules are all class compliant MIDI devices. The only unit that requires a driver is the CMD Studio 4a, and that is only for the ASIO audio in Windows.

seems like you are treading into dangerous territory where another company will see the the community hype around modular controllers and release a prototype made of more solid components with rgb leds for ultimate mapping possibilities

I forget, do we know if these things are class compliant midi devices?

I consider a "while" in gear lust time to be any period longer than two months, but shorter than three... If a time period time exceeds three months, but is shorter than six this is known as "ages".... Any period of time beyond six months is "unbareable".... If we are lucky and get the item within two months this is known as "shortly" this is the best phase of waiting as we can hold excitement for that period of time and not have another product release to look forward to that can replace the initial lust...

so will the cmd series arrive "shortly", will it take a "while" or is it gonna be "ages"
Diogo Dj Dragão
17.04.2012
That depends entirely on what you consider "a while".

Thanks for the reply nem0nic.

I really hope you are working with the Stereomusik Systems guys to get this working with DJ Player / Redbull RPM... it's by far the best iOS DJ software out there.

Any info yet on what iOS software the CMD Micro is going to work with?
Not yet. Stay tuned...

Any chance of making the DC1's matrix multi coloured like the F1?
The LC-1 has a multi-color button matrix, but the DC-1 only offers 2 colors (and a solid or blink state for each).

Any chance of making the DC1's matrix multi coloured like the F1?? Although maybe the F1 version of Traktor (with it's multi coloured sample triggers) may ONLY come with the F1 controller?? :S If so... Booo NI

Well to be honest none of the other controllers really look like they are suited to it...
The DC-1 navigation section (at the top) is AMAZING in Ableton Live.

Any idea what's going on with bitwig support? Or is it too early with that program to really know anything? + These are all class compliant so I'm not going to get any driver headaches using linux, right?
I honestly have no idea about Bitwig support. I hope to have more information after PLS. And yes, the CMD modules are all class compliant.

Well to be honest none of the other controllers really look like they are suited to it but that doesn't really matter. I'm sure I can happily re-purpose 4 of those 8 buttons or maybe use my laptops arrow keys.

edit: still no info on the ableton unit and how you are supposed to move the clip grid.
The LC-1 is made for clip triggering only. Think of it more like a monome. Of course, you could use the encoders and buttons above the clip section for navigation and launching scenes, but those duties should really fall on another controller (like the MM-1 or the DC-1).

Nice vid, a little more detail than those I have seen before. Thanks

Just wondered if anyone had any more info about the CMD Micro controller?

Specifically I'm wondering what iOS DJ software it is going to work with?
Algoriddim Djay is the obvious one, and that would be good, but personally I have my fingers crossed that it wil work with RedBull BPM DJ (aka DJ Player)...

And typically my countries are not listed grrrrrrrrr

Wonder does Hong Kong get considered under the China warranty, most manufacturers class it as independent from mainland ?

They don't have a Music Group Distributor in China Mainland on their site despite it being listed in the warranty section
