Yeah I 'quite' like it. I just believe it gets going too late. It picks up towards then end and it should happen sooner, but then thats Daughter for you.

Same here, though I can't claim to be as good a pianist as he!

Blinding track.

Skrillex likes Daft Punk, we all know it. But Daft Punk also likes Skrillex!! Have you read the Mixmag article? Bangalter said Skrillex was doing something new and trying things in his own way. What do you believe? xD

Of course it's electronic dance music. It's also live band dance music. The 2 aren't mutually exclusive, what a bell end.

Daft Punk are NOT doing anything new or original. There are loads of dance music acts that use instruments as well as software etc, this is nothing new. Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, Crazy P to name some of the obvious ones.

And who the fuck said they were "saving EDM". I doubt that Daft Punk believe that.

Some people are just coming off as bitter twonks because the hype machine has took hold of this release and run off at a zillion miles an hour.

I'm pretty sure this album IS gonna be special but jees-louise don't get all bitter and twisted if you don't like it or don't like the fact that people are hyped about it.

I thought Laidback Luke was a decent bloke... not so sure now.

btw - Boards Of Canada are to release a new album. Now this new nearly made me piss myself with excitement. I should start a new thread on this cus there's some really mental stuff going on with these guys at the moment.
Bravo, another fine post Karlos, agree totally.

And ref Boards of Canada, me too, I'm much, much more excited about their new LP than what Daft Punk will be serving up to appeal to the US mass market (i.e. make a stack of cash).

Yeah, what thomas said was fucking stupid. he is generalising beyond belief.

If I hear a dubstep song and it's not skrillex, then I don't assume anything, I find out who it is.

Electronic music isn't having an identity crisis, thomas is having an identity crisis, electronic music has never been in a better place.

I wish musicians who make good music would stick to just that, nothing else.

Skrillex has been successful because he has a recognizable sound: You hear a dubstep song, even if it

I actually responded to him:

"@LaidbackLuke considering they are using analog synths, and processing the live music with analog effects as well I would say it is elec"

His response "@GuiltySounds Great reply! Props."

The album’s move away from computerized sounds reflects Daft Punk’s "ambivalence" about the EDM craze they helped to inspire. "Electronic music right now is in its comfort zone and it’s not moving one inch," Thomas says. "That’s not what artists are supposed to do." He adds that the genre is suffering "an identity crisis: You hear a song, whose track is it? There’s no signature. Skrillex has been successful because he has a recognizable sound: You hear a dubstep song, even if it’s not him, you believe it’s him."

does this not make people feel like they are trying to change EDM at least?

just uneducated fanboys maybe

and what is wrong with asking a question?

I guess there are many ways to see it. IMO, Daft Punk are actually bringing back something to EDM, but also I don't believe EDM is death as they say. I don't believe on something better, I believe on something new, let's see what's like. What do you believe?

Well lets hope they bring in something a bit more than their own robot vocals over a track for future releases....

Despite that, i heard the latest track in a sun drenched pub garden this afternoon and it was awesome.

mmm, I made sure I listened to 'Get Lucky' several times and over a few days; purely personal opinion of course; not impressed - certainly can't disagree it's not a straightforward, 'poppy', slightly catchy tune different to what is in the charts at the moment, and bound to sell (and is) a bucket load.... but it's just not great or getting me excited at all, I'll wait til I hear the full LP of course, but my expectations are low despite Nile being on board.

I have just driven home from work, windows open on car, sun shining and this blaring out of the stereo. Perfect!

I cannot wait for a club edit/remix.

This and the Skream edit of Duke Dumonts Need U (100%) are made for summertime
