***MOD EDIT Go to page 6 for the official announcement***

----------------------------------------

Idk if this is real or not. It's in spanish (I used google translate to read the article), but supposedly this article bears all of the info you could ever want about the z2 and has an unreleased picture of it. I apologize if this has been posted already. I did some searching and didn't see it anywhere. http://grupoadagio.es/informaticamus...e-instruments/

Article as translated by google translate. Maybe our bilingual djtt members can give us a better breakdown of the features?

"I recently had the opportunity to be in Berlin at the official presentation of the Z2 KONTROL European distributors. From the first moment is a product that has raised great expectations while many doubts. Leo in certain community s many dubious statements about what is going to be exactly the Z2 KONTROL Native Instruments ... Let's try to clear up some ideas.

One of the "slogans" that Native Insturments used in new designs is INTEGRATION. That means that each and every one of them his power will always come from an integration of the advantages of a powerful and efficient software and ergonomic hardware. Thus we have the best of both worlds combined, or rather multiplied.

*

The KONTROL Z2 is a controller for DJ, sound card, integrated 4-channel capability to handle external signals from dishes or CDJ's in a session. It even works in "stand alone", ie not connected to the computer, but who wants to buy the Z2 with this functionality as stomping staple is suitable territory.

*

The main idea that is developed with the design and release of TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2, is that there is a huge community of DJ's worldwide using TRAKTOR and go on tour with your computer as a key. Upon arrival at the club the DJ's are a multitude of solutions mixture that does not integrate with TRAKTOR at all, you must face connections and disconnections of cables and make room in the cabin for dedicated controllers as X1 and F1 are those who really are solve your session with TRAKTOR. The mixer as the centerpiece of the cabin is relegated then to control the volume, EQ and little else, and if it is an old and battered interpose noises mass or some faders and EQ's rascantes between your brand new computer and gear is sound.

With Z2 as a controller / mixer core of a club can have the conventional material (plates and / or CDJ's) playing, but start dreaming of your TRAKTOR just connect a USB cable. In addition two integrated USB hubs allow you to connect F1 or X1 in any combination at the same mixer and sound ... The changes between DJ's are now possible in less than two seconds.

Z2 can control 4 channel sound, to select between channels A, B, C and D easily. Its 4 side buttons are prepared to control 4 CUES or the shot of the first 4 samples of REMIX decks. The TRAKTOR effects control is also integrated although in a less extensive than using an F1. Switching to receive the analog signal from an external source is instantaneous and is performed with a simple pressing of a button, in this case only functions EQ, filter and volume can be performed on the signal.

The mixture remains engine when no ringing TRAKTOR an external source, so that the absolute cleanliness of the signal path is ensured.

The analog electronics around digital motor has been designed and chosen to provide audio quality up to the level that will require this new contender to win the heart of the cabins worldwide. In that sense I've tested both as EQ and filters are excellent. It also includes a license for TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 with their corresponding vinyl and CD's in the pack.

With this new family member TRAKTOR, the digital DJ system more advanced than we could have in the universe or not an S4, is a two KONTROL Z2 + F1 and an F1 or X1 or two dishes plus two CDJ's. And a computer, of course!

Other details like effects PRE / POST fader selectable, adjustable crossfader curve from the front panel, as well as X-fader reverse, two headphone outputs

Nor me. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this mixer it seems, but where are the reverse/curve controls for the line faders? If there aren't at least curve controls, that's a pretty big omission IMO.

This!

You won't be forced to use the software faders/eqs with timecode.

I'm glad I waited and didn't buy an RMX-1000. I mainly wanted it for the build-up breakdown fx and have been trying to figure out how to recreate them in traktor....having the new Macro FX in 2.6 will likely be what I am looking for...I wonder if there will be any ability to create your own macros, or will it be limited just to the NI presets?

All the info they give for Pro 2.6 right now

Activate the new Flux Mode and it tracks the time while you juggle cue points, loop and re-edit the track live, then lets you drop back in at exactly the right moment. A powerful creative weapon and an innovative tool for maximum creativity and point-perfect timing.
When released, the track drops exactly where it would have been if it had run “uninterrupted”. A convenient visual indicator in the waveform keeps track for you.

Macro FX combine multiple TRAKTOR effects on a single control. Now it’s easier than ever to build up, breakdown and destroy tracks with a single, intuitive action – without being an FX guru.

The site says it has buttons for Cues and Remix Deck control. Is that what the 4 RGB buttons are for? If so, does each one trigger on pad in a remix slot or what?

Also, little mention of Post-fader FX. just noticed that the mixer had a label that says "Pre/Post" under the FX "ON" button...so will post-fader fx be limited to internal mixing, or be locked to the Z2? hmmm...food for thought.

Yes!!! They come with Innofaders. Can't wait for a 4 channel version though, it would be a perfect crossover between MIDI and analog.

Page is here now:
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/...or-kontrol-z2/

Seems as though my suspicions were correct with it aimed at Turntablists and Controllerism. Included timecode vinyl and cd's. Also the example setups from the site do not show a 4 deck setup example (emphasis on 2 other channels for the remix decks.
Also, not sure if it will be as stated the standard in club mixers. A percentage of DJ's including myself use, and prefer 4 channels, as
in 4 physical faders. Maybe in a few months there will be one hinted at.

$899's on the high end, probably more than I'm willing to pay when I could get a second-hand DJM800 for the same price. But with a 20% discount it's closer to $700, which is a liiitle more reasonable.

Cheers that would perfect. if I'm spinning a gig, and I really don't want to use my computer I would only really use 2 decks. On the other hand, I usually spin with traktor, and in such cases the new mixer would definitely allow me a 4 channel functionality in that regard. After owning a traktor certified 4ch mixer, I'm not really sure if I need those two extra full channels.

Thanks for the info nestaselect. Although I would like to test the EQs nad faders/filtre before I go on a selling rampage.

I can forgive them for dropping the rec output, because obviously you can just record internally on Traktor.

That's awesome!! I guess the main output being 1/4" can be fixed with 1/4"-XLR cables which isn't that big of a deal, but still lol. Thanks for the correction rdej47

So esesentially, if this is true, that means that it will be a big advantage for DJs who hate having to bring a USB hub to connect their soundcard, X1 and F1. In this situation you would just need one usb for the mixer and the subsequent USBs for the X1 and F1 would connect to the mixer. (they have this on some old higher end mixers for electricity for Turntables).
That's cool, very cool.. Good to see the option to daisy chain.. But the point I was making was for NI to release a MIDI only version for those who do not wish to connect any CDJ's/Turntables. Let's face it, most of us have analogue mixers at home which we can run CDJ's/Turntables & a soundcard input from Traktor, using X1's/F1's or a combination of the 2 to control Traktor & all of it's wonderful effects.. I'd love to see a MIDI only version with a similar form factor to the X1 & F1, maybe just wider.. For a BUS powered exclusive DIGITAL setup with Traktor.. Which would be much more portable..

Browser selection, effects and buttons are already available on the S2 & S4 along with jog wheels and everything else.. So it seems that the Z2 is just like the S2 & S4 but without the jog wheels..

I WISH they would release a MIDI only version. Most people who use Traktor have X1's and F1's, no we just need a mixer to complete the modular set..

I wonder if they have been smart and enabled daisy chaining of devices from the mixer? I doubt it.. Would be extremely useful to daisy chain a X1 & F1 to this.

Something to discuss - Wireless MIDI control over bluetooth or WIFI.. Rechargeable X1 or F1, or even battery powered? Who wants cables everywhere?
