Using the regular cable won't get you a wired MIDI connection, just a charging device communicating over WIFI.

Great I'm also running a first gen iPad. I also noticed the promo vid was made with one, but nowadays that doesn't say much.

plug the cck into the ipad, plug your midi to usb lead into that and midi into your audio interface or s4 or whatever. You can use wifi if you dont have any of the bits needed. The latency is minimal in my experience. Lemur is awesome

All so using the iPad camera kit and a USB midi cable now so you get a wired connection

You need usb-midi cables. Retarded you might believe, but the camera connection kit isn't recognized as a MIDI device by itself.

do I just connect the ipad camera kit to the ipad then a usb cable to my laptop or do I need anything else or can I connect this straight to a s4 midi ports.

Yeah, the more I get into wanting to use more advanced features and programs that don't get in my way the more I realize that MacOS is simply a better environment. Windows feels so woefully behind the times and it's no wonder PC sales are in a rut. I believe my next big purchase is going to be a MBP...wish I had realized this sooner.

Tommy what map on the ipad are you using for traktor ?

Anyone get this working in windows 7 64 yet?
Between the daemon, loop midi, rptmidi or midiox i've a scramble of virtual cables that don't seem to route to Traktor.
otherwise I guess it's kinda cool :/

Max 4 Live is an amazing software and it is on sale right now. Even if you're not a programmer, the device library alone is really worth it. If you love Live - you will love M4L too!

Mu on the Ipad is really great. It is true that if you're just using Live with no intent to use all the devices templates that comes with Mu - Touchable is still great and practical, on the downside it only has just a few native devices and is not customizable. Mu just feel more professional.

Touch OSC is great too but it is absolutely not the same program as Lemur - if you want to create basic knobs and XY pads - it does the job sure, like a Dacia takes you from A to B, but Lemur is more like an Aston Martin. The objects are crazy and so deep with the containers concept...

I want MAX now...

I just bought it, I need max for live though to do all the cool stuff and run mu

It should run in the iph
Branden Wentler

Looks like it should run on an iPhone. There a.re templates available and the editor has a preset workspace for the iPhone.
I just purchased and am playing with the editor but getting it running into Traktor will be another story altogether

Would be pretty interested to see how this runs on an iPad one as I definitely cannot afford an ipad two but might be able to stretch to the original one!
Dorie Scelzo

Sweet. Does it run on the iPhone? I know it wouldn't be ideal, but I have one of those and don't own an iPad (though I probably will, at this rate)
Maida Vorenkamp

yes, you can off of the liine website.

http://liine.net/en/support/

and the two selling points this has over touchOSC (which was created to emulate the Lemur for iOS) is scripting and physics. These could be accomplished with TouchOSC; however, an external app would have to be written and running in the back to do so. With Lemur it's built into the template running on the device itself. So all of the interaction will actually function the same even if it's not connected to a host. This is also what limited amount I've come across just from downloading and experimenting for the last 72 hours!

Ok fine, I'll buy lemur if you insist.

I'll get to see how it runs on an ipad1 16. I bought it used for cheap months ago to run touchosc and the battery life isn't great, not sure if that is just the ipad1 or because it's been used a bit, probably both.

The one thing the hardware lemur has going is the slightly larger screen size, I wonder how that will affect the older maps on the ipad in terms of usability. I also notice I don't see any VU meters on these maps, I wonder why...

Stories like this are shining examples of just rapidly things can change and progress. If you would've told someone in 2004 that you could use a lemur for $50 they believe you were nuts. Not to mention that your new lemur would also be able to go online, email, music, do games pretty much whatever u want.

Things like this always inspire me to believe that anything is possible, anything can change the game.

Rant over haha

Back to Lemur, is it possible to download the Lemur editor for free. I'd like to have a go at seeing what kind of templates can be put together. Also for those of you who own it How does it compare to touchosc, at first glance both apps lookalike they accomplish the same thing.

That's because Jazzmutant came before the Ipad, or TouchOSC, hence where TouchOSC got their design influences from. I'm glad that lemur got ported to iPad; I'm sad to see the hardware controller of theirs die though. I remember the first time I saw video of Daft Punk using these and believeing..."What the hell was that!?".

This has given me even more reason to go Ableton.
I always wanted a Lemur but that price tag made me cringe a bit. This looks like good fun!

The templates from Liine appear to have tsi's included. I don't imagine lag will be much less compared to touchosc when connected wirelessly. Both apps perform excellently over a wired connection.

Hi all,

Does this Lemur version on Ipad is faster than touchOSC ? or lagless ?

And templates which can be found on the user library comes with a .tsi file ? (template for TP)

Thx in advance

I believe i've made the first iPad user template for Traktor. Check it out, feel free to modify and add to...

A LOT, but thats not the point of this topic.

Everyone should buy this Lemur for 50$. With scripting options I am sure you will be able to make SUPER COMBO midi stuff without bunch of modifires in the TRAKTOR.

Dont believe just buy, you cant get wrong with lemur. I would, if I have ipad.

Hey if anyone has it I'd love to see it in use especially against touch osc (which I just bought) ugghh
Nedra Fresneda
07.12.2011
So I guess this and a pair of K2 will be my next year's compact setup. I'm very interested in the scripting side of the app.

My guess is the editor is a direct adaptation (or the same) as it's hardware counterpart, hence the pricetag. It does seem expensive at first but this is definitively a big upgrade from TouchOSC. Depending on how in depth you want to get with it, going for one or another app should be a pretty obvious decision for new buyers.

If you own Live and M4L - it is truly amazing!

I have always dreamt to control every device of Live with MU everything is mapped with a native template.

Programming Operator or Analog from an Ipad is pure joy, the possibility with physics for the Macros are incredibly powerful and I did not even scratch the surface.

$50 well spent - I love my Lemur and it is an Ipad too!

Some Lemur developers left and made the new company Liine which i didn't know till a couple of days ago, so I guess it was inevitable.

Re iPad 1 the Ram difference between the two and processor upgrade makes a big difference, I'm personally waiting for iPad3. As Applebelieve they have a tick rock philosophy like Intel etc. 4s bullshit etc.

The iPad3 is going to amazing, revolutionary you see!
True about the price, even if you buy just an iPad and the app it's still a lot more cheaper than buying a lemur, minus some functionality which I'm sure can be fixed with an Alesis iO dock or something.

That's the thing about the iPad, I might wait till the 3 comes out and see what to do, but I can pick up a used 64GB WiFi one for $350-400 which is pretty much the most I can afford at this point, will have to wait and see I guess...

some traktor templates look really cool..
