I messaged the video uploader; and he updated the description with a link to DL the template:
http://liine.net/community /viewtopic.php?f=26&t=793
I've also figured out the mapping side of Traktor now..

Think I will be dabbling with some more Lemur templates of my own in future

afternoon- just got hold of lemur for Iphone.. looks like there aren't any iphone friendly templates out there yet.. the traktor templates on the liine site are all for ipad.

I'm on pc and have the midi setup sorted, but damned if I can get traktor mapped up to it? Do you need to map each command manually in the traktor prefs?
Only got TPro2 setup the other day..
Little out of my depth here. Some help would be appreciated.

Hi there. In trying to answer your question I ended up with a post way too long to post here so I have it up on my blog. Please check it out when you have a minute!

http://pumpupthedj-eng.tumblr.com/

Not directly answering your question with a list of MIDI messages etc.. but rather suggesting to use Lemur (or other controller apps like TouchOSC) to find out the info you need and get some ideas as to how you want to build your controller.

Hope this is of some interest to some people.

Cheers, and many wishes for a great new year for all of you!!

Anyone any tips on setting up the midifighter style page for lemur , what message should I have the pads set at.
Lynetta Stanislav
29.12.2011
Cheers Padi , I am also going to add a midifighter type section as well where will I find each fx setting and which message do I need for each button/pad

Nope, just have traktor shoot the MIDI out of those parameters back to the meter sliders, you could do that in TouchOSC too. I might add a scrip to have the meters color change, having white showing the deck selection, but it's not on my priority list atm.

Cheers for the reply had a quick play around and looks simple enough . Do you require a script for doing the volume/main/ mix section you built with multisliders.

Thanks Neil

Right click on a container, make tabbed. You change the name of each tab from the project browser on the right.

Each tab shows totally different controls (unless you copy them from another tab) with new messages, there is no funky modifier, focus or script action about this part, it's just the nature of tabs.

+1 on Bento's advice with Mu

Padi how do you build the sections with with the tabs for eq , fx units , beatjumps, hotcues and loops what you have built is very similar to what I am trying to get to . Also the section with the multisliders do have to build a script to assign these or can these be mapped in traktor.

i recommend grabbing and using the MU template if you have M4L, its a very nice starter piece and you can code from there to make it fit your live set optimally.

going to be getting into creating a custom patch soonish

You probably just overlooked something really small, happens all the time. Have faith in the software and your knowledge of the manual and you'll be debugging without a problem in no time! Good it worked for you

Yeah, I'm still banging my head against that one. I got the same behavior you describe, and have yet to find the magic bullet. If anyone knows of a technical doc that explains what the behavior of the LEDs should be we will be in your debt. ( Hate to have to make individual LEDs, but if that is the only way... )

For sliders the physics is really all about the "tension".

I set the friction (0.9) and hight (0.5) to fixed numbers I like, and set tension to Snap.x (Snap is the toggle button). Snap just toggles its x value between 0 and 1 and doesn't send out any midi. Any time Snap is "on", the tension of the EQ becomes 1 (=max) and the sliders snap back to its default hight (=0.5) unless you are holding it with your fingers.

Hi, if you have one led working, my method should be pretty straightforward for you. I just use separate CC numbers for all the LEDs. Probably there are ways to conserve LEDs but I have no plans on using up the available CCs in the near future so I just use separate ones.

On Lemur's side, you just connect the "value" parameter to the correct midi in port target, and set the color for the on and off states. I don't get visual feedback of the seven different states of the cue points (like load marker, grid marker etc...) and just whether it is set or not but I like it that way so it's okay.

2 single multisliders with 5 multislider pairs (VU meters) inside a container. It's missing the clip leds tho . I'll export the module once it's complete.

Padi that looks very cool just starting to figure out how to build a template then map it , got a basic xone 4 eq template built and mapped just need to figure out what else I am going to add , yours looks very interesting , how did you get the section with the mix and main volumes on .

Have any of you guys messed with the physics modules and stuff yet? I'm wondering how these could be used with traktor's effects.

Similarly, looking at the default ipad Esowave layout it looks crazy like some hollywood GUI stuff, but I have no idea what I would do with it. Messing with some of the waves and parameters looks nuts and is pretty mesmerizing.

1) Yes, nothing mapped yet tho. Button below the gain (grey) fader would turn EQ physics on and off (so they reset to 0 when released, multifaders need an anchor point).
2) FX Assign for each deck.

I tried the touchstrip but i need to find the right sensitivity settingswith the "new" jog turn parameter. I could add another tab in the hotcue module for it or simply have one of them minimize with a switch and make room that way.

Just in case, the yellow strips next to the faders are filters that auto reset to 0 when released (HP or LP toggled with the button bellow it), by pressing the button above it they are replaced by pitchfaders (probably with finer +/- buttons to compensate the lower resolution)

Bloody Hell.

I believe you read my mind. I'd put a touch strip in there but you got a lot of what i was believeing right there on the page.

Are those EQ kill buttons underneath the EQ faders?

What are the '1 2 3 4' for at the top either side of the shift button.

Still playing around with different layouts before I get into the mapping side of things. This would be the main page and later adding less cluttered pages for more comfortable/specific use. I'm not 100% sure if i'll roll back to a jog/strip approach, I believe progressive bend (and scrub while stop) buttons do the job better and take less space. The little fader icon next to the shift button toggles on/off a 4 deck mixer and deck selection

Far from complete, but this is the main page.

The filter can be adjusted by (1) the center of modulation, (2) the width of modulation and (3) the speed of modulation, which can all be set to snap back to zero on release or stay where the finger left. All modulations are synced to the BPM set in another page (not quite there with syncing via midi clock).

Beatmasher has four instant effects that use the ADSR envelope of the pads.

These are just two examples of what couldn't have been accomplished prior to lemur (on iPad) but I am sure that a hell of lot more can be done.

Daemon is a helper app that runs on the computer running the app you want use as a midi instrument, for instance, your laptop running Traktor. It's main purpose is to connect virtual ports on your computer with the virtual ports on your iPad. The mac version comes with 8 virtual ports of the daemon itself, but the windows version requires a separate virtual midi port application such as midi yoke.

For example,

In Mac: Traktor on Mac can connect to daemon virtual midi ports. Daemon then connects those virtual midi ports to midi ports on the Lemur.

In Windows: Traktor on Windows can connect to Midi Yoke virtual midi ports. Daemon then connects those virtual midi ports to midi ports on the Lemur.

Hi! I'm not good at scratching so I'd like to pass on making a video, but I would imagine scratching experience is not going to be so good in Lemur because (1) The endless encoder (or even the normal encoder) doesn't have a z value (to send jog-on signal) and (2) It works in 60 frames per second which is not enough for even the slowest platter movements for a stable sound. That's just my assumption so if someone has a cunning workaround, maybe it could work.

Hi! You have to check if the midi signal path is in line.

This shows where the x value (fader position, etc..) of the Lemur control is sent. Check the midi port number in the red box on your template ("0" in this case).

These two show which Lemur midi port is connected to which Lemur daemon port. You want to make sure that the red check box shows the same value as the one checked above (0). Also check what daemon port is selected in the yellow box. Together, we can tell that midi 0 of the Lemur sends midi data to daemon in port 1.

The two pictures display the same info. The difference is that the daemon (above) shows all the iPads (Lemurs) connected, while the Lemur (below) displays only what is relevant to the specific Lemur.

Finally the familiar Traktor settings. Check the yellow box (the midi in port of the given device) and make sure it is the same daemon port as the one above.

Cheers!

Awesome, I feel like I tried a ton of different ways but I'll give it another shot later today.
