Vestax Spin Traktor 1.2.3 TSI Fully Working
Posted on: 14.01.2010 by Desire Kwiek
Ok guys!

Here's the most stable and fully working map for the moment.

There were some problems and functionality issues with DJBalla's map so I started from scratch. The FX section is fine tuned to suit my needs so if someone wants it changed - just say so Loop section works as follows: Pressing "AUTO" sets auto loop, pressing "SET Cue" sets cue and loop in, pressing In/Out sets Loop Out I've set up the In/Out LED to indicate when the track is in loop.

Freezes and bugs now occur very rarely ;] If you experience something weird --> drop a line here ;]

So here it is! Enjoy!

New version available! See the end of the post 1.0 -- > Attachment 1934

- The Sync Button now flashes with the tempo of the track
- Minor improvements
- Fixed LEDs MIDI Range issue

New Stuff:

- Shift + Mic Pitch controls Effect 3
- Shift + Left Jog Wheel moves Up and Down through the track list
- Automix + Jogwheels - Controls Dry/Wet on effects! Cooler then you might believe ;]

Even More New Stuff (Ver. 1.1)

- added LED notification when track is in AUTO Loop

- AND FINALLY, after 5 hours of misery... the channel level meters It was a real mission to get them working!

- Minor changes

Cheers

P.S. Quite a messy post this is... I've been posting, reposting and editing it for days

Little progress update...

4 Deck Support is almost there. Old FX Mode is history, CUE Mode has to be redone too. I am currently trying to figure out the best way to utilize the Spin's limited controls.

I am working with Traktor Pro 1.2.4 now, so the new map would be 100% 1.2.4 compatible.

Share your ideas guys!

Cheers and c ya soon

Ok so what you do is you turn on your Spin (wait for your system to recognize it - happens when the jogwheels are lit blue), launch Traktor, go to File --> Preferences. There is an "IMPORT" button in the bottom of the Preferences window. Click on it and browse to the .TSI file (the map itself) and click ok... This should do it

I don't believe the OS matters much so... we'll rule that out.
If you are using Traktor Pro 1.2.4 it should be working flawlessly. What comes to mind is - try with different USB ports and always turn on the Spin before launching Traktor. Try that one out, it it's a no - go, we'll believe of something!

Well under the knob there's a button that says on, and when you click it it illuminates and allows the FX to be heard. What I've found with your mapping is that one can either turn on the whole FX box (i.e. the three different effects in the box) but it won't allow to turn on/off each of the individual FX that are in the box.

Honestly I don't want to sound like a nag or anything, I am truly really impressed with the mapping, and it obviously took a lot more technological computing skills than I have, but I believe this feature could definitely have its uses.

I look forward to using 4 decks on the spin. And if you say you're going to re-do the whole FX section then I'm sure you'll probable address what I've mentioned above, without even realizing it.

BTW I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or if this is even possible with your current map, but is it possible to select songs with the spin, or must it still be done with a mouse?

thanks, regards,

BMO
Cool dude! I'll take a look into it and will certainly figure out a way to have separate on/off buttons when in chained mode!

And yes! You select songs with the Nintendo Cross or you hold down SHIFT and use the left Jog Wheel in kinda' iPod fashion

Are you sure you are using either version 1.2.3 or 1.2.4? This particular TSI won't work with any other version.

@bmo: so you finally received your Spin? great! Try and explain once again what you meant. I couldn't quite catch it.

"The only thing I would maybe like would be to have individual buttons for turning on the effects on/ off (i.e. on for filter, etc..each separate effect in the effect chain)."

I consider creating a whole new map altogether. Adding things just makes the TSI a mess + i've made a few "modifier assignment" mistakes in the earlier versions, which results in having to remap tons of stuff now... It would be easier to redo the whole thing.

My idea is to simplify the FX section
Add 4 decks (this is happenin' fo sho' )
It would be nice if I could reverse engineer the sampler dem bwoys with the VCI-100s have with their mapping.

gotta go now! more input later...

go into preferences and click on midi, then import the .tsi file of the mapping, and it should be all good, you can fiddle with the audio outputs and what not if you have an external sound card.

My goodness Oldfashoined I Love you man! This midi map is soooo good thanks. The only thing I would maybe like would be to have individual buttons for turning on the effects on/ off (i.e. on for filter, etc..each separate effect in the effect chain).

Other than that though it is amazing. Four deck support would deffinietly be cool also.

Once again thanks for putting in the time to make these maps and sharing them with all of us.

so cheers and c u soon!

I've been gigging with my Spin for about 2-3 months now with oldfashioned's .tsi and have had nothing to say but positive comments. I play out with it once a week at a friend's bar/lounge. Props to oldfashioned! The only thing I'm concerned about is how the monitor mix will work with greater volumes. Where I play every week is very loungy(sp?) and hence the volume of the music is on the softer side (low enough to have a conversation with someone across a table, for example). I've yet to hook it up to a bigger system to see how it fairs. I remember cranking up the system at the lounge once and the volume in the headphones was sorta fading in and out with the monitor mix set to about half way. Not sure if that was abnormal behavior or not...

Okay lads...

Vestax Spin TSI for Traktor 1.2.3 by oldfashioned README.pdf - here's the README I've promised earlier... It's lame as f*ck and I don't believe its any informative but... If you have any questions, just ask me.

MAP.jpg --> updated image

Now for the next version:

1. Setting cues with the Jogs while in CUE Mode

2. When pressing shift and scrolling your track lists up and down, Traktor goes in full screen browser mode. What do you believe about that one?\\

3. I am redoing the FX Section once again

oh and @eddij... YES dude it is LED lit, it'll come with the next version... by the end of the week hopefully.

@majestics: have you sorted it out or do you still need some help? If I understand correctly you want the monitor mix to work only when the left needle is held down? Or not?

oldfashioned, could you do me a massive favour please?

I need the Monitor Mix nob assigned to the left needle button. When I try to map it to the button it doesn't show the toggle due to it being a fader/nob i guess. Is there anyway round this so it can be toggled on/off?

Hey y'all!

Thanks for the .tsi file oldfashioned! It's a major help!

BUT

i'm having trouble importing the file! I used the import .tsi file in traktor, and it's not having any effect at all. Is there a guide to follow? Or does anyone have any tips for importing .tsi files?!
