Any cool VCI 100 MK2 mapping?
Posted on: 27.05.2012 by Deon Arrabito
Hi djtt,

I just sold my apc 40 to get my new set up which are VCI 100mk2 + midi fighter 3d. While waiting for my 3d to arrive, I try to mess up a bit with stock mapping to get more control of VCI 100 mk2 in Traktor Pro 2. Does anyone has a fun mapping to use with? I'm trying to import S2 jog fx into my vci but it doesn't work at all because im kinda new into the mapping things. Thank you in advance DJTT community.

Just listed mapping and found that /tempo band (stepless)/ is set as fader/knob... Try to preset it as encoder (3Fh/41h).

Not sure this got something to do with mapping. That could be latency ar try to engage/disengage multicore support.

Thanks for the video! Got some conclusions out of it.

Though that LED's in jog FX mode act the same as S2 (lit one at the time) but it's ok when get used to it I guess. First combination is close to original (just a bit) and other three sound nice, especially second. Think I noticed issue when exiting jog FX mode, you need to time the moment when LED blink in to press button and switch mode off. Am I correct?
Nop, I don't need to time the led. Maybe it was my habit to count the beat b4 press anything lol. I found some distortion sound when i scratch or quick search the song. and sometime when i nudge the track the dry wet of jog fx is rotate too but no effect out. believe i need to check some more.

I'm always glad to help if it is in my power so you are very willcome! It would be cool if you could make yt vid where I can hear how those jog FX sound like. Also that vid could come great to post together with mapping

I'll see what can we do about this suggestions and will totally leave to you how you wanna name it because you come with idea at first place.

I have done setting the effect amount to be (hopefully) perfect by watching and listening a lot in youtube.
and i believe we done with the jog FX thanks to you man!.

I would like to add more map to make it more flexible controller like
- I mapped the bottom 4 buttons for Play, hot cue1, hot cue2, hot cue3 but i cant mapp it to be shift+hot cue to delete hot cue. I will try to map blink led on play button toevening though lol.
- how can i map headphone cue to auto activate when I load other deck? please advice.
- the volume fader is always up when i open the traktor even they are down in the controller. Is it anyway to correct this error?
- what should we do with effect bank 3 and 4? I got and idea of effect bank 3 is to be a manual group effect control by 4 knobs in the controller. For the effect bank 4, echo mod?
- any idea to tweak the joy stick knob in brower the song? It cann't move to the left tree in traktor

- Lastly, what should we name this mapping? lol

I have attached you the current tsi. for checking though. vci100mk2.tsi
Thanks again man. You just made my dream come thru.

Great! This is gonna be final step and from now on its all about perfecting. All commands need to be set as encoder (relative) enc. mode 3Fh/41h and mapped to jog platter scratch.

FX unit 1:

Dry/wet: M8=1 (sensitivity 70% ; acceleration 55%)
Dry/wet: M8=2 (sensitivity 90% ; acceleration 55%)
Dry/wet: M8=3 (sensitivity 70% ; acceleration 55%)
Dry/wet: M8=4 (sensitivity 60% ; acceleration 0%)

Effect 1 amount M8=1 (sensitivity 68% ; acceleration 25%)
Effect 1 amount M8=2 (sensitivity 68% ; acceleration 25%)
Effect 1 amount M8=3 (sensitivity 68% ; acceleration 25%)
Effect 1 amount M8=4 (sensitivity 60% ; acceleration 0%)

Effect 2 amount M8=1 (sensitivity 88% ; acceleration 37%)
Effect 2 amount M8=2 (sensitivity 88% ; acceleration 37%)
Effect 2 amount M8=3 (sensitivity 60% ; acceleration 37%)
Effect 2 amount M8=4 (sensitivity 60% ; acceleration 0%)

Effect 3 amount M8=1 (sensitivity 48% ; acceleration 35%)
Effect 3 amount M8=2 (sensitivity 50% ; acceleration 35%)
Effect 3 amount M8=3 (sensitivity 50% ; acceleration 35%)
Effect 3 amount M8=4 (sensitivity 60% ; acceleration 0%)

When it comes to drama FX I believe that sensitivity of 60% should be fine but you can reduce it if you find it very fast.

Next are preset parameters for dry/wet and all three effect amounts. All commands set to button (direct) and map it to jog touch too.

Fx unit 1:

Dry wet: M8=1 (set value 0.600)
Dry wet: M8=2 (set value 0.700)
Dry wet: M8=3 (set value 0.600)
Dry wet: M8=4 (set value 0.000)

Effect 1 amount: M8=1 (set value 0.600)
Effect 1 amount: M8=2 (set value 0.500)
Effect 1 amount: M8=3 (set value 0.500)
Effect 1 amount: M8=4 (set value 0.000)

Effect 2 amount: M8=1 (set value 0.100)
Effect 2 amount: M8=2 (set value 0.100)
Effect 2 amount: M8=3 (set value 0.400)
Effect 2 amount: M8=4 (set value 0.000)

Effect 3 amount: M8=1 (set value 0.200)
Effect 3 amount: M8=2 (set value 0.200)
Effect 3 amount: M8=3 (set value 0.000)
Effect 3 amount: M8=4 (set value 0.000)

For interaction mode set hold.
Kellie Myrum
29.05.2012
In next step you will map FX on commands. All of those commands need to be assigned to jog touch.

FX unit 1:

Effect 1 on: M8=1
Effect 1 on: M8=2
Effect 1 on: M8=3
Effect 1 on: M8=4

Effect 2 on: M8=1
Effect 2 on: M8=2
Effect 2 on: M8=3
Effect 2 on: M8=4

Effect 3 on: M8=1
Effect 3 on: M8=2
Effect 3 on: M8=3
Effect 3 on: M8=4

So tell me, did you manage to map modifiers 8 and 3 switch back to zero while exiting jog FX mode? It's very important for your further work.

Maybe you noticed that effects are still changing by nudging while out of jog FX mode? We need to set M8's value to jump back to zero when exiting jog FX mode. This is how you do it...

Add in modifier 8
Modifier condition: M4=1
Type of controller: Button

Here comes the tricky part!

Interaction mode set to "INC" and check the "INVERT" box. Next, set interaction mode back to "DIRECT"!
Set to value: 0

This should bring modifier 8 back to zero every time jog FX mode is disengaged. Repeat this step for modifier 3 also.

Since Ean's S2 mapping include three fx presets I though to throw "drama sweap" in to fourth slot. What do you believe?
Ok we'll start with effect selection for unit 1:
Effect select 1
Modifier conditions: M8=1
Type of control: Button
Interaction mode: Ditrect
Set to value: Beatmasher 2

Effect select 1
Modifier conditions: M8=2
Type of control: Button
Interaction mode: Ditrect
Set to value: Beatmasher 2

Effect select 1
Modifier conditions: M8=3
Type of control: Button
Interaction mode: Ditrect
Set to value: Flanger Flux

Effect select 1
Modifier conditions: M8=4
Type of control: Button
Interaction mode: Ditrect
Set to value: Iceverb

If all set good while selecting preset you will notice this effects are start to change in FX slot 1.
in Learn box, i put on the nudge right?
