I'm far enough north not to be effected. Although the north east has some of the most deprived area's in the country.............you will NOT see riots/looting here,
we are used to be let down by the government, throughout history, industry has been dead here for over a decade.

They may be taking advantage, but i believe this is anger that has boiled over on the streets of some of the most deprived area's for the last ten year's, nick clegg predicted this back in April, this might as well be a carbon copy of the 80's, a mixture of anger and criminality did drive those riots as well, granted the ratio would have been a reverse of what is happening this week.

But there will be people out there who have worked hard at school/college with the promise of scholarship or help with uni fee's taken away from them, and apprenticeships few and far between, dole and housing benefit cut or taken away entirely, living on the streets of London after having the hopes of coming here for a better life shattered.

It is a Total disgrace but there should be better procedures for the police to deal with this kind of violence, better support and senior officers on the ground helping the Pc's to quell these public order offense's.

Then there is the cost of all this, we will be bankrupt within 6 months the amount it will cost to prosecute all of the looters/rioters "all of the cells in London are full" a quote from the met, how can they cope with this after cuts they have had over the last year.

Stop the world i wanna get off!

if you really believe about all this and it's backlash,I have an overwhelming feeling of dread looming over Britain that i have never felt before, my thoughts go out to everyone effected.

There is no quick solution to this. it's now part of our history and that makes me weep for humanity

So... it looks like Iran want to get involved. But have no fucking clue what's going on, or a twisted way of seeing it.

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/193030.html

And the dude's hair looks like it was badly photoshopped on afterwards.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast urged the British government to order the police to stop their violent confrontation with the people, IRNA reported in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mehmanparast asked the British government to start dialogue with the protesters and to listen to their demands in order to calm the situation down.
Anyone hear any demands from the guys ransacking currys digital in hackney? Any calls for appeasement? No? Didn't believe so.

looting combined with stupid random destruction is truly a disgrace... as for the sheer rioting, well I guess you reap what you sow - the UK government has been fucking with the population for way too long. it's just very disappointing that people chose to abandon peaceful disobedience for the sake of violence
Tatum Ansaldo

I guess you see people running around, stealing jewellery and TVs and not being stopped by the police then you'd be tempted to join in. I don't believe they're believeing far enough into the future to realise they're committing serious crimes and are likely to be caught.

Yea just saw that, i dont understand the mentality of kids theses days im only 24 ok i settled down early with a family etc but wtf are parents doing or not doing :/ the vast majority of these "looters" are like 13 - 19 years old, ok as a kid you get into some trouble and maybe drink underage or whatever but what posses them to believe its a good idea and not realise they will be caught :/

The manager of the Manchester Bang & Olufsen store was just on BBC news, apparently they have NO stock left, it's all either gone or smashed. That is gna be one hefty insurance claim.

Great. Now the prisons are full! I believe that they should use water cannons with an identifying UV dye or something, that doesn't wash off. In following weeks police should go round scanning people and arrest those who were sprayed. Also, bring on those rubber bullets!

I don't believe people really seem to have an excuse. I know there isn't allot of love for the goverment at the moment, and I know there is allot of unemployment (got a scary amount of friends on the dole at the moment), but I believe people are just using what happened as an excuse to go around looting.

But seriously, that's really sad that they shot someone that didn't do anything. Hope his family gets some kind of settlement.
He was a known gangster apparently, and police had put him on the watch list because his cousin was murdered a few weeks beforehand and they thought he might seek revenge.

The police initially said that they shot him because he shot at police, but the bullet that hit the police officer was allegedly found to be a police issue round.

So who knows

I know yeah, but its pretty clear that some random innocent taxi driver hasn't been shot for no reason.

Our police have some badassmotherfucker teams, but when the violence is this widespread (just look at that google maps link above), they're just spread too thin. My brother is a police special constable and I can tell you I'm fucking glad there's no violence in our county.

Yeah, what a mess they've got there...

A movie I highly recommend watching, Harry Brown, deals with the really fucked up underground crime in London.

I know, but i felt i had to correct the comments made earlier which were basically stating an innocent taxi driver had been shot dead for no reason. Thats the kind of shit that gives these dick heads on the street reason (they believe) to go and smash shit up.
