CDJ and Turntable Subforums here?

CDJ and Turntable Subforums here?
Posted on: 02.11.2011 by Halley Wurzer
Granted, I am not some guy that has been here since the beginning, and mostly DJ with my S4.......but.....would it not help more than hinder this community to have these? I like and appreciate the online community here, check the community multiple times a day, and learn a lot. Yes this topic is partially triggered by the recent absence of DJForums, and I realize the roots of DJTT, but how could it hurt to expand and broaden just a little? It would really help fill some "online community gaps" for a lot of DJ's. It seems that DJTT has been solid, reliable, and growing, and a great platform for expansion. In the real world, the lines between DJ mediums are blending, having a reliable online community that serves a majority of DJ's could really act as a catalyst for the acceptance of newer technology alongside more traditional mediums.

Obviously this is just my opinion, I don't know managements goals or future intended direction, or costs and time that would be associate with such a change, but feel that some thought should be given to creating these. Again, nothing but respect and appreciation for what Ean and team have done! Just an idea....

I mean why not expand, right now another community just started trying to fill the DJF void, we already have users here who are begging for a CDJ/vinyl community and want a place to talk about more. general discussion doesn't cut it.

I actually had a dream last evening that there was a CDJ & Vinyl DJing subcommunity and it was pretty cool
I agree on this one.

No matter how many controllers and other digital DJing gears come out, vinyl turntables and DJ CD players will still stand out when it comes to DJing discussions because they are the essential tools for "proper" DJing without the use of assistance from autosync, waveform beat matching and other computer related auto beat matched mixing softwares such as Traktor, Serato, Ableton, VDJ, etc.

I personally DJ with TSP but there are also times that I just mix with all vinyl especially when I feel nostalgic.

I believe there is always a complication when community s are expanded and brought down into different parts.

I'd love to see a couple more sub-community s, but I already know it would change the dynamic of how this particular community works in a lot of ways, for good or ill. I didn't care much for the "off-topic" community being made (and enforced) bringing things away from the general community , but I completely understand why. (I just looking at things all in one place, but it can get really messy).

If it brings people to the community s, even a few, I don't see why not. A "TT and CDJ" sub-community , and honestly an "Ableton" sub-community would be stellar.

I believe its a good idea.

I remember a cpl of weeks before the S4 release, I suggested an S4 subcommunity to try to separate all of the future S4 threads that would be posted in the General community .

A few days later DJTT listened, and created the S4 subcommunity ...

well it is vinyl... DVS already gets talked about in just about every other area and would fit in there too. I believe keeping it kind of vague would be helpful since there are so many other technical gear focused community s and if you call in "cdj and turntable discussion" it sounds like another gear choosing and troubleshooting subcommunity that doesn't foster more general discussion on the topic.

Xonetacular and I are on the same page. A sub community that was titled "CDJ and Turntable Discussion" or something like that is what I have in mind.

I believe that would help but we would still need another subcommunity . In conjunction with another subcommunity for non controller djing it woud do it and now this is the perfect time with the overflow from djf looking for a place to post. It could really help grow this place.

I believe a big reason to have a dedicated community is a lot of people who are strictly cdjs or tts might not sign up to post when they see there is no dedicated place to post and they assume it is all controller guys here. This place will always have a digital/controller focus but I believe opening up a venue for non controller/timecode djs to post and feel welcome could do a lot for the community as a whole and bring more people to the table for some better more well rounded general discussion as well.
