CDJ-2000 looks like it has been discontinued- time for the CDJ-2000 Nexus speculation
Posted on: 03.02.2012 by Romelia Stankard
So it looks like the CDJ-2000 is officially discontinued according to a few sources and the CDJ-2000 Nexus will be released in April.

Have any photos or details been leaked? I'm hoping for better screens and scrolling waveforms. What else could they add?

Doesn't matter, you're right. It's really annoying DJTT let's through all this spam. It's just easy fixable with something like a question (how much is...).

On the other hand, I don't really see what's wrong with the 2000 after all these years. Traktor finally fixed the Advanced HID, and that was something the majority on this community was asking for.

What would be the purpose of the sync button on a piece of gear which is made for people who don't wanna sync at all?

While some people do say its not a good idea, the Numark V7 did sell right? and while its major feature was its moving platter, it was also as heavy as most decks and as bulky. A Pioneer CDJ with advanced HID (like only pioneer can pull off since it is the industry standard) and possibly a USB slot for jump drives @ about 1000 - 1400 would most likely sell. People brought the DDJ-T1 when it was double the price it is now didn't they?

I'm by no means saying that this is what they are working on but it is plausible. Could also be that I dont really see how they can improve the current 2000 (other then software and slip mode). Put wifi in it?
It's a negligible cost that alienates a significant amount of users. Removing compatibility isn't the way to go, and it wouldn't cut the bottom cost too much.

The V7 is a controller, not a standalone unit, having a CD drive in it wouldn't make any sense.

Video support, quantization options, and some kind of expansion to the networking capabilities. The 1000mk2 only had a slightly improved jogwheel, and a marginally better screen, IIRC. It doesn't need to be a massive jump.

Lol at people speculating at removing the CD drive. The drive comes in at around $40, and is relied on by a significant percentage of CDJ users. The 2000 still supports cues and wave data from the original 1000, and the hot cues still work the same way, something tells me "legacy support" is something Pioneer's good at...

I can picture the product announcement, "In the 2000 Nexus, we've stripped out the CD drive, because seriously, fuck you CD users, go buy Traktor, controllerism is THE FUTURE."

they are not waiting till after summer being that they already said they will be announcing something big at the DJExpo the week of aug 13th. I doubt they would have seminars to learn about their new innovative stuff and all they announce is a new headphone

duh i'm tired of waiting...talking about obsolescence format at the other thread, wont be too wise to spend my top $$ again for a piece of cd player with minimal 'improvements' over the last version...taking into consideration of 3-4 years shelf (relevance to being flagship) life.

Knowing Pioneer, these new ones will probably have such revolutionizing features as:
  • A new colour
  • Shiny lights
  • A new name
  • A higher price

(I jest of course)
Wait, if they take out features, such as the ability to play different formats (as in CDs, SDs ect), then I'm sure that they would lower the price. Then again, we are talking about Pioneer.... :-/ Though, I'm pretty sure a lot of old school DJs still play around with CDs.

I believe there will be sample banks on them to coincide with the new version of rekordbox.
So you can use the hot cue banks as sample triggers like on the rmx 1000 with the original track playing underneath.
The pioneer guy said the new version of rekordbox is going to enable you to take samples out that can be used on the rmx 1000 so maybe the new cdjs will have this feature? who knows lol

So By your count:

1) HDJ-1500
2) HDJ-1500K
3) HDJ-2000K
4) DJM-850
5) DJM-850K
6) RMX-1000

What else they added this year

7) HDJ-HC01 (Case For The HDJ's)
8) DJM-900NXS LTD (If we're counting colors)
9) CDJ-2000 LTD (If we're counting colors)
10) DJM-4000 (Not USA, but announced from Pioneer this year)
11) CDJ-4000 (Again, Not USA release, but announced from pioneer this year)

Not 100% on the white limited cdj2000 and dim-900 system, and also not sure if the HDJ-500T came out this year.

Of course this info is all reliable.... *cough*
I wonder if they count the same product in different colors as 2 new models i.e. hdj-1500 in silver and black same for the djm-850 (which is a total hack they should have implemented the beat color effects on my 900... but i do have quantize so i guess that makes up for it?)

RB is slow as hell that is true. I can see with massive amount of tracks on there RB being slow. The CDJ could use an upgrade for mem and processor.

As for price. I'm waiting to see whats in store. I have a friend willing to buy my cdjs for a good price to help me get the new ones depending on what they coming in at. I hope the price point isn't insane, but I'm believeing they bring them in at the price of cdj 2000s retail now.

I've been saving for a while now... i have a little over 2K saved up. i enjoy the 850's even, but depending on what the actual price of this new nexus model is and how badass it really is (probly overated) my guess is i'll snag a pair of 2000's for around 2100-2400 used which is better than the 3200 im being priced at for brand new, but i'd spend 2600 on the old model new rather than 3500 for the nexus if at all possible
Shantae Faile
27.06.2012
is it wrong that i could really care less about a CDJ-2000MKII? Im more interested in the CDJ-900 getting a nice color screen to set it apart from the 850. That, or of coarse the price of 2000's coming down...

its not the laptop trust me, its a macbook pro, i7 2.7 with 4gb ram and a 750gb 7200rpm hybrid drive.... again, any other software searches instantaneous, its an issue with RB which really stems from Mixvibes, pioneer needs to get on them to fix it

the issue is in the software, trust me, even the results are off sometimes and incorrect, RB needs A LOT of work still

here is a video I had sent them comparing typing in RB vs typing in Serato after 1 letter is hit, you will see what I am saying

lets get back on topic, we totally steered away from the point, LOL...

right, but they really have that slow of a processor and memory in the decks that can't handle a search in a timely manner? For $2000 that thing should be faster then most pc's, haha
what kind of laptop are you using? specs?
