I've spent more since I got into controllerism (the last couple of months) than I have in 3 years. Can someone say Black Card Candidate? I can't. Too broke. I've gone through phases before where I spend large sums at once, but never in this quantity. I got a Kontrol S4, Odyssey Flight Case for the S4, Midi Fighter, Scratch Upgrade for the S4, Fluorescent Orange Control Vinyl, M-Audio Axiom Pro 49, Pro Tools 9, Ableton Suite 8, Novation Launchpad (kind of free from the parents [A Nice Gift I might Add.]), 8GB RAM, 1TB WD Scorpio Blue Hard Drive, Denon HP-1000 Headphones, A Shit Ton of Jasmine Tea (Not Sure Why, but it tastes and smells like...well...amazing.) and Shure SE215 IEMs. Like...What the Hell. What happened to my generally behaved spending habits... I'd assume that I'm also not the only one in this boat either, so along with lighting one for me, pour one for the foreclosed homies. | |
| Romelia Stankard 14.05.2012 | I'm really going to try to not buy any gear for like 6 months. Ok maybe 3 months is a better starting goal. I don't need any DJ gear but there is a ton of production gear I want that I don't need- I believe I'll try to not buy anything for a while after I get sound treatment and make some more music. |

Pre-traktor, i had a djm700 a cdj and a technics 1200 and had not picked up anything except an efx1000 over the course of 3+ yrs. then again, i didnt have much money back then but believeing back, im not sure what i would have really wanted except maybe a better cdj (but even today, i just couldnt stomach paying the money for the top line cdjs out of principle). Ur not alone im sure.. And theres worse things to blow money on for sure.. At least u have some resell value if u dont hold nto things too long. My rule is that if i dont find myself using something, it was an unnecessary purchase and i should offload it to a fellow rgas dj asap who will get better use out of it. |

| Horacio Stranathan 22.03.2012 | I would agree, we do have issues. I however love technology. And I try to sell my stuff in a reasonable time frame if I believe I can get what I want out of it. Think of it more as renting a piece of gear and moving on to something else and keeping what you love. How do you truly know what you like if you don't try it? But yes, issues here are very apparent. |

Yes, it's the peak of my djing interest! 2010 - Technics 1210mk2, Ortofon Concord Gold with Qbert stylus, dozens of classic trance vinyl (for listening purpose only)....later at the end of 2010 the ethusiasm reduced... 2011 - Ventured into synthesizers & hardware workstation. Bought a Roland Fantom G6 synth, costs almost 5 months of my monthly salary :P...but this is just a start! Oh & the djing gear is now downgraded to Mixtrack for shit & giggles. still keep the classic CDJs & mixers at home. |
