You can set it so that it never sleeps when certain apps are running - eg Traktor, so no need to ever manually activate it again for those key apps. Also it can be activated as on/off or on a timer.

I'd check it out!

P.S. I'm not so keen to upgrade my MBP quite yet. I just don't get why NI doesn't get an Apple Developer account for OSX and iOS to test the beta versions of the software.

No issues with traktor here, used it all weekend in da club. Cant comment on any other software as traktor is all i use on this machine.
It'll still sleep if you hit the power button on Mavericks

Any help here? Surely my macbook pro hasnt all of a sudden become not powerful enough to run logic...

I was afraid that maverics might f with logic pro 9 which is why I haven't installed it yet. To be fair you have a 5 year old macbook running a what's basically a .0 release of their new OS. I'm not surprised you've run into issues. You could try here to check if any others are having these problems there are a lot of people still using 9.

Other than that you'll have to fall back on tried and true techniques for overloaded DAWs, like print the synth to an audio channel with no plugs, then put the plugs on the printed audio track and disable the plugin instrument.

You need to run the Setup Wizard which reinstates the X1 default mapping.
You will lose your Favourites and will need to setup your layouts again.

Export your individual controller tsi's (if you have made some user tsi) and your keyboard tsi (if you have made your own) and then reimport that saved tsi after the wizard has been run.

I'm a pretty reluctant upgrader from Snow Leopard for my trusty 2009 iMac. I finally succumbed (and sadly lost itunes 10 - hate the new version) as I wanted to get Maschine 2.0 (see my other post).

Have to say, I didn't activate all the stuff that I was really put off by (the gps tracking, the icloud and messaging) and am kinda happy to say, it's not all that different to Snow Leopard.

Apart from me cringing about the dreadful name of Mavericks, and the loss of itunes 10, so far it's not been that bad. It seems slower, and so far the only things that's very broke is my Reason 5 (thankfully cubase artist 6 stills seems ok). I haven't had time to try re-installing Reason, but hopefully that'll be ok (don't fancy having to pay for the upgrade as I don't use it that much).

But on the whole, it's not too painful.

I just finished downloading the update of Traktor Pro2 (had stopped upgrading when it went to minimum Lion OSX a few versions back), so yet to see what's new in there.

But..... I dunno, hopefully this gives a bit more life to my trusty iMac for a while. Am even almsot believeing of upgrading my 4s to iOS 7 after all this.

Was loving partying like it was still 2009 but.... maybe 2013 is not too bad a place to be.

Heres something interesting Mavericks seems to improve the "live" Power Balance on a MacBooks' USB ports

On Mountain Lion if I plugged in my sound card straight after restarting - no problems all 8 channels would operate as the first port was getting over 1amp. lots of juice.

If I plugged in my USB hub first and then the sound card I'd "probably" drop down to only 2 channels on the sound card as the Hub would be the highest drawing device and the sound card is designed to drop to 2ch mode when there is not enough power - PITA.

Now even if I plug my Soundcard into the Hub, and have an external drive on the spare port drawing a full 500ma I get 8 channels all the time no matter which is plugged in first /last or weather the computer is restarted or not.

So guessing there is some sort of dynamic power balancing going on in Mavericks

We updated the MF Utility and now it is Mavericks compatible! =)

Please note that because the version number is the same as the old you will need to manually delete the old "Midi Fighter Utility" from your applications directory before running the new installer.

Focusrite owners be advised, you might need to install this: http://uk.focusrite.com/node/20097 if you get distortion/dropouts with your hardware and Mavericks.

Installed and running Serato 2.5. No problems yet. Just a couple hours of mixing at home but haven't run into any problems yet. Nothing really that amazing to say about it either really though.

My Xone 2D is not working, A&H have stated they will not support Mavericks yet. Shame I didn't read it until after the upgrade so my fault 100%. My Denon DNX 1600 is working as per normal.

Maybe it's time to grab an X1 and retire the 2D

I completely agree, it's a tragedy waiting to happen. Thought it was a bug back in the DPs but it made it all the way to release, maybe if we make enough noise they will revert it or at least offer it as an option in the energy settings. Closing the lid is a fast and intuitive way to put it to sleep, feels a bit redundant now.

PS: I still wonder why the hell they removed the remaining time option from the battery icon with 10.8, why should we need a 3rd party app just for this?

Did you check to see if the default mapping is installed..? Try running the setup wizard.

Back up your tsi first.

Hopefully that will be a "decent solution"

Have a funny feeling Apple won't be doing anything anytime soon seeing as they made a support page dedicated to the power button "feature"
