DJTT Progressive Mix Train #2

DJTT Progressive Mix Train #2
Posted on: 17.09.2010 by Latoria Kavulich
Hi Guys. Here's your chance to get in on the second DJTT Progressive Mix Train!

I thought seeing as there were a few keen on the first one (which isn't quite ready yet) but missed out unfortunately this would be a good opportunity for y'all to show the community your stuff.

This time i believe we should go with 6 slots of 20 minutes each and a mix of experienced guys and some up and comers to make up the full two hours. If you are keen, reply to this post and we'll set it up on a first in, first served basis. (And i believe all involved in the first one should exclude themselves)

Remember this is for progressive house, if thats not you then sorry.

Once we have 6 Slots filled we'll set the groundrules and get this show on the road!

The first person will be "In Charge" and be responsible for making sure everyone gets their part done and to a good standard.

Have at it mateys, J

That's funny, when I was believeing of trying to jump in on this I was wondering the same thing. Although with all of you I'm sure you can span the spectrum it'd be nice to flow into the next guys style. I'm really looking forward to hearing both of the DJTT Progressive sets.

send the mp3 or wav to my pm box with the tracklist, if possible also include the bpm you used on the last track since my cdjs sometimes give an irrelevant bpm when i play a mix with a varying bpm

@ grazz if you are cool with starting mate. Its a tough spot as you are setting the tone for the rest of the mix. When you are done put the mp3 in a fiolder with a txt file with the playlist on it and upload it to megaupload or somewhere like that. We'll put the finished result up on soundcloud later dude

Here's a basic order, feel free to swap around amongst yourselves lads:

1. grazz16
2. BlackPete
3. jdog667jkt
4. Photojojo
5. Xolunt
6. Tekki

Just an idea.

@jdog its up to you mate but the general idea is to keep it smooth and not too "megamix" ish if possible. If you are going after someone try to go with their vibe maybe whilst adding your own flavour to the mix. Then the next person will work with what you finished with and so on.
A good example of this is the "psytrain" that we did. DvlsAdvct used 11 tracks in his 30 minute slot and went with a more controllerist vibe whereas Tekki only used 4 and his style was more straight mixing really.

Ok some basic ground rules:

- Each person has 20 minutes, however a couple of minutes over is fine as this can be used for the next person to mix into.
- Tempo changes are fine, but do not mess with anyone elses part in any way.
- Its up to you how you do your part, if you want to do basic mixing thats fine, if you want to do more of a controllerist routine, thats also fine. Just remember this is progressive house we are talking about, in my opinion controlerism doesn't really suit this style but hey, i'm not in on this one!
- Keep a good eye on your levels when going between parts, ideally we'd like a nice smooth 2 hour mix as the finished product
- Try to get your part done in a reasonable time, I'd like this done in no more than 3-4 weeks if possible
- Most importantly, Have fun guys!

So, Who's first?

Whatever floats your boat as long as it sounds at least okay. Who's leading this train anyway? Put me down towards the end in case someone else wants a spot later you can pull me.

Alright we need one more slot filled guys. Who's keen?!

So far we have, in no particular order as yet ... Tekki, Photojojo, AKA jdog667jkt, Xolunt, BllackPete.

Once we get that last spot filled y'all can decide on the order and we'll kick off huh.

dafe + stormeagle showed some interest in the last one, where they at.

I'm gonna gracefully withdraw from this project. Since I put my name down my mixing has been crap! I've pretty much lost my Dj-ing mojo

I'm still looking forward to hear what you guys do for this 2nd journey

I love progressive but I havnt got round to making a purely prog mix as yet, the 2 above I made to appeal to a wider demographic. IMO some of it I consider prog....

I'd like to have a crack at a slot. I wouldn't want to be in charge though!

I used to DJ prog house with vinyl about 10 years ago and have just got back into dj-ing with Traktor and a VCI -100

I'll post one of my next mixes on Soundcloud so you can check me out before giving me a slot.
