VST Instruments EVERYONE Should Have

First of all, I will start by saying that if you are going to start producing music or already are, you should have a MacBook Pro or an iMac running Ableton Live. (IMHO) (UNTIL BITWIG IS RELEASED!)

With Ableton Live, there is only a small selection of VST Instruments that you should need to use. These include:
  • NI Massive
  • DCAM Synth Squad
  • NI Battery 3

These 3 instruments, along with all of Ableton's FX and Instruments are all you need for an unlimited amount of awesome productions.

I use a P.C cus I'm a mastering engineer thus I have to use Sequoia as this is the industry standard for postproduction and broadcast.

I was watching the NAMM video of Blade this morning and it seemed pretty cool. Got the demo after work. Pretty cool to me. I had my wallet out earlier but still haven't pulled the trigger.

I keep expecting to see Wesley Snipes face appear whenever I see that synth.....

Anyone tried Rob Papen’s Blade?? Looks interesting and have read some decent reviews.

Think Mostapha's is sold.

I have Geist FS... $200 and I pay license transfer fee... open to offer though. IMO and many others... Geist > by far over Battery

I believe that everybody should own something that was made specifically for them - whether it was custom built or designed from the ground up, and whether they made it themselves or commissioned a master to do so.

TBH, he does have some great songs... In fact, I have purchased 75% of all his songs... But, all he does is come up with a simple MIDI Clip, create a nice sounding synth out of whatever synth he uses and then arpeggiates it, which really just shows all you have to do is now how to do is EQ and Master a track. Producing music really isn't as hard as people make it out to be, it just all depends on what audience you are presenting it to.

In saying that, it is hard to start off with, but once you have your first few tracks down, you're set.

fact is he uses or used straight nexus presets before. It kinda shows that production is 50% creativity and 50% technical, if you have a great melody but a shitty production, it wont go anywhere, vice versa.

I agree with not wanting to sound like someone else, or at least using their signature sounds, but at the same time you could recreate Avicii's sounds in any synth. It's just a high-pitched Saw Wave with a fuck load of filter on it.

Hmm……telling people what's better and ignoring everyone else's opinions based on stuff you could have gotten out of a really short-sighted 10-minute video put out by any one of a dozen crappy retailers' blogs or youtube channels……and you have't heard of u-he? It's not like they're the end-all be-all of synthesis, but it's not like they're an unknown.

Right…because Ableton's channel strips being different from anything else and having different workflows for 3rd party vs. native plugins isn't a huge PITA, nor is the fact that it just can't do audio editing and has the worst browser of any DAW. And Logic not being able to split stereo busses into mono feeds isn't a huge PITA when it comes up, nor is just how complicated the Environment is for what are such straightforward functions in everything else.

I own both of those and while I dislike both cubase and reaper, I believe there are very valid reasons to choose them. I'd start over learning with Cubase before I'd muck around with Live again.

Okay... Point taken, but in saying that, I suppose that updates for Mac do come out less often but only because they are less vulnerable than Windows. Can I also add in that OSX Operating System Updates cost about 10 times less than Windows OS's.
Nedra Fresneda

Certainly more efficiently but not as often
