Well... you could feed the Monitor/headphone out into the mixer to mix externally if you wanted too. But I believe that would be a messy cable job.

Also I'm going to buy a VCI-300... have you fixed the scratch/pitch bend on the jogs yet?
If not can someone try this setting:
jog turning: CDJ bend/scratch
jog press/touch: Play/Pause set to hold

hey glen... post ur mapping too

14.01.2010
A quick question in between:

I have my own mapping for the VCI-300. I have made it so that when touching the platters the schratch function is enabled.
I have made the scratch buttons on both sides in to a modifier M=0, set value to 1, interaction mode; hold. It is set up so that when i hold this modifer and touch the platter i can seek position in a track (accelerated).

It seems to work, however, when I let go of the modifer the jog seems to remain in seek position-mode. Also it does not seem to respond to the modifer every time.

Anybody got an idea of what's going wrong here? I have mapped useing the sides of the platter for pitch bending.

Many thanx in advance

EDIT: Allready got it. I just used another modifer. Now works like a charm.

First off, I would like to thank you Claude for releasing this awesome TSI, as well as Morbido, Remote, and the rest of the community for your efforts for making the 300 a viable tool for Traktor Scratch Pro. So far I have been struggling with tsi's and customizing them to get a setup which feels right, works well, and feels intuitive, so far this is the answer. I felt bummed when I first opened up my 300 and found that it didn't play nice with Traktor out of the box. I did some more research and came to the conclusion that I would have to wait for the official DJTT release. I then tried brute forcing my tsi to get it to work, but am so glad that I found yours. As of yesterday I was 80% sure I was going to try to sell my 300 to get a 100, then I tried your setup out and immediately was pleased. Just wanted to say thanks, and keep up the great work!

Please read through the threads about the vci-300 and traktor pro. I know they're long, but it's worth it.
You'll then find out that you don't need mini.translator with Traktor PRO only with Traktor 3.

And yes, you'll probably need ASIO4ALL (if you're on a Windows PC).

I mean my vci 300 and traktor don't work. I use mini.translator and configured it properly. But when i start Traktor pro i can't hear sound of the track? I heard something about ASIO4ALL, can that help me to solve this problem? Thank for reply
Andriy Gavrysh

what do you mean? the vci-300 works fine with traktor pro... all you need is one output, and the 300 has got one
Seymour Brode
10.12.2009
ok but where is the other way to make vci 300 work with traktor pro? bless

Check out my tsi. I got it working for quit long time now. :)

only small bugfixes... can't see anything useful in 1.1.2 for me
but tbh bugfixes are as important as new features... they are even more important for ppl having those nasty bugs

and i still wonder how to reproduce the behaviour of itch... i could give up scratch, but can anyone of you tell me how to tempo bend using the outer side of the jog?
i only find the option to do that via buttons... and i can't wrap my head around that cdj scratch + tempo bend - i really don't know what that thing does

bump ...

well .. some bugfixing in TPro 1.1.2 but still not anything fixed. i'm still wondering how to use the platters for "jog scratch/tempo bend" and then ending up at the same bpm's you had before (in sync).

hehe, no prob. i wondered myself when i read your question - until i looked at the first page to see that there's no mapping there

yep, you're missing page 3, 4 and 5 - there are the tsi's
(obviously the newest one is on page 5)

amazingly this seems to have been a vci-related issue - power adaptor i was using was switched to wrong voltage and it was causing havoc. on 9v now and no major problems....
Virgil Yacullo
16.03.2009
I kind of agree with you on these issues.

I'm using a brand new Macbook Pro 17" laptop with Traktor Pro 1.1.1, and I have many if the same issues.

Issues that I see very often:

1. The VCI-300 and VCM-100 knobs and faders won't work until you twist them multiple times, and then the signal "catches" and it works within Traktor.

2. More than once during a set I've had the file browser just start scrolling all the way down or all the way up, and it cannot be stopped. No matter what you press or try, you can't gain control of it, and after a few minutes of frantically clicking the center dial and trying random buttons it will unfreeze and allow you to browse again, or it won't, and you have to restart Traktor.

3. Every single time (100% of the time with any version of Traktor Pro), when I shut Traktor Pro down, it remains running in the OSX taskbar, and you have to FORCE QUIT, which then sends a problem report to Apple.

On another note, in this TSI, I have everything working the way it is supposed to be, except what I had mentioned prior: There is no way to browse up and down using the jog wheel. It says to use SHIFT + JOG WHEEL (OUTER EDGE) but that doesn't do anything for me...?

does it sync if you have your vci attached but use the sync keys on your keyboard?
those issues really seem strange... are you syncing to the master clock or to the other decks? did you set beatgrids?
Gena Tautolo
16.03.2009
os x 10.4.11. am going to try a fresh install of traktor this evening, hopefully it will sort things out - strangest thing is definitely the sync issue - with the vci attached it doesn't sync correctly (it syncs to within .3% but not exactly), but when i just use the keyboard tsi it's fine!
MadMan Ajms
16.03.2009
have you tried pressing on the actual on/off buttons on Traktor .on the screen?
The FX are still a little buggy in my TSI I believe.,,needs an overhaul. I am now using a Korg NanoKontrol and works perfectly. As for the faders, maybe you are having confusion with the "soft take over" and how it will not respond.

yes, Itch is very tight and responsive..The unit was designed around the software.

..just some thoughts.
Andriy Gavrysh
16.03.2009
wohoa... now that really are a bunch of issues

hm... i'm on a macbook pro myself, haven't got any probs with traktor 1.1.1 and my vci-300...
i believe the best bet would be for you to remove traktor (there are instructions on how to properly do that on the NI community s) and do a clean install of it again...
i know that's not a very good advice, but it's all i can believe of... sounds like you have some big problem...

btw, which osx version are you using?
Gena Tautolo
16.03.2009
to be honest it's a whole host of issues, FX stay toggled on and then skip (esp beatmasher), all sound dies and then 10 secs of silence and then reboots, sync doesn't seem to work properly with the vci attached and all controls feel unresponsive, you sometimes have to move a fader/pot up and down repeatedly to move a "stuck" control. no issues with itch....

traktor pro 1.1.1/itch, vci-300, macbook 2.16 Ghz, WD scorpio HD 320gb 7200 RPM, 2 Gb RAM

you can try to reproduce these situations/faults/errors and tell us exactly what you did when the error occurred... also be sure to post your specs (traktor needs quite some ressources to run well)!

if you describe your problem as good as possible then maybe some genius on this board can sort out some of your problems
MadMan Ajms
16.03.2009
sorry you feel Traktor is not working well for you. I have found that 1.1.1 is ok.
I believe all programs have there problems but 1.1.1 is quite stable. Maybe post a new
thread about your problems and maybe some others can try to sort it out.

first of all thanks claude for all your hard work on this.... the issue that i have is that even after the new version i find that traktor is still pretty unresponsive and often locks up/fails to respond to controls etc.... i am currently just using traktor with a soundcard and keyboard mapping as the midi interface is still so f-ing buggy!

hell yeah... i'd like to have that too!
i love scratching in itch, for me (usually not a scratchstyle dj) it even feels better than vinyl!

i'd love to have scratch like in itch, sync and fx like in tpro and the possibility to nudge the master clock via the jogs (they screwed it again with 1.1.1, now you can only tempo bend/nudge via buttons - no jogs *damnit*)...

but my hope is kinda broken (as this was the second update in quite a long time and they just can't manage to achieve those things) - so i guess these are (and always will be) just wishes...
