TouchOSC / Traktor templates for iPhone / iPad
TouchOSC / Traktor templates for iPhone / iPad Posted on: 13.04.2011 by Nancee Russum Just wanted to share these with you guys. They're both based on the DJ Tech Tools mappings for the Novation Dicer, giving very similar functionality but on the iPhone & iPad. Download them for free here: http://digitaldjtools.net/tools/touc...-iphone-dicey/ http://digitaldjtools.net/tools/touc...te-ipad-mashy/ Any comments, suggestions or recommendations will be most welcomed! | |

Shaunna Franke 07.06.2011 | I believe actually TouchOSC 1.7.1 does support note or CC information inside the touchosc template, could anybody confirm ? Actually I'am working on a simple iphone template for Traktor which include direct control mapping into the template. Then you would just have to setup a rtpMIDI with bonjour or a pureMIDI session, and load your tsi. Normally that should be enough to complete simple things, no puredata nor osculator needed !!! I tried to find the standard mapping for traktor in order to make an universal template that could work OOB... whitout osculator nor puredata painless programming. The worst point might be to remap traktor with the learning mode but if any touch control is already mapped into the touchosc template that should be better than testing empty ones and setting up puredata/osculator. (inside template mappping should work both under MAC and Windows ?) Thanks for testers'answers Regards, :-) |

Nancee Russum 22.05.2011 | Many thanks for the info. Yes, it's a problem with the template. I'll reply here once it's fixed. Thanks again for pointing this out. |
Jannette Thieneman 22.05.2011 | It's working with all effects in all modes hot cue/loop/mash. But when in play fx + shift its not working. |
Nancee Russum 22.05.2011 | Having trouble again replicating this. Can you provide any more detail? Does this happen in any particular mode (eg., yellow), or when you use the the FX 1 or FX 2 buttons, or with any of the FX banks? I've used up all the modifiers and set deck C and D as sample decks, so I'm not able to switch between 4 standard decks I'm afraid. The template requires that C and D are permanently set to sample decks. |
Jannette Thieneman 22.05.2011 | After your advice now it works. There is only one small problem when in play fx + shift mode on deck b there is no gain control. P.S. If there any way to make it works for control of 4 decks ? Any modifyer that will swith between ab/cd ? |

Nancee Russum 18.05.2011 | Yes, you can use it without OSCulator now. TouchOSC sends and receives MIDI commands directly now, so there's no need to have OSCulator convert OSC to MIDI for you. Just download the template again from the website and follow the 'Upgrading from previous version' instructions. |

Nancee Russum 18.05.2011 | Thank you! Glad you like it. |
Kandy Ahdoot 17.05.2011 | Currently using this on my i pad 2. and its amazing i can see you put alot of work in to this and with midi core and 0 latency this thing is flying. good work. |
Nancee Russum 17.05.2011 | Thank you! There's an update planned for the iPhone version, but it'll be a little while yet I'm afraid. |
Lilliana Perris 17.05.2011 | Updated for the Iphone too? I like this a lot mate! Will definitely use it! |
Nancee Russum 17.05.2011 | Template now updated to v2. You can now control Traktor 2's new Sample Decks and Loop Recorder. A host of other new features and a tutorial video added too: http://digitaldjtools.net/tools/touc...ipad-mashy-v2/ |
Lora Vandewark 30.04.2011 | Just a quick one to say thanks for the effort! These are great! |
Nancee Russum 01.05.2011 | Just updated to work with TouchOSC 1.7 and coreMIDI. No more need for Osculator or PureData |
Nancee Russum 18.04.2011 | OK. Yeah, the 'Mode' buttons (for Cue, Loop and FX) should definitely stay lit once you've pressed them. Please let me know if you're still having the same problems. Ideally, if you could also post a vid that would be really helpful. |
Hang Trabing 17.04.2011 | When I press the button I can see the LED light up upon pressing it but once I release the LED won't stay on... I'm using the Windows version too, will try it again and see if there's still the issue, it's good fun as it is just need to keep looking on the screen to see what's activated or what mode it's on... |
Nancee Russum 17.04.2011 | @mr.magma - Do they come on at all? Or just sporadically? @djnotixx - Ah, good idea! I believe I'll try it with the formant filter too. It was a bit of a last minute thing really when deciding on the effects to use on the 2nd bank, so I'm sure there must be better combinations than the ones I had originally. Really pleased to hear that you're making good use of it, BTW |
Bill Aukes 17.04.2011 | I went in and changed my fx to incorporate a formant filter, gater, and lo fi. Super useful. I threw some Velcro on the back of my two iPods and now I can put them wherever. Definitely a great addition to my iPad mixer/looper/scratch jog/fx/cue layout that I use. I got two iPods running the split dicey and my iPad all routed to traktor 2 running perfectly. I could DJ a great set just using these honestly. Great stuff. |
Hang Trabing 16.04.2011 | Tried it out but the LED's don't seem to stay on when using it :S any ideas on how I can fix that? |
Hang Trabing 16.04.2011 | That's wicked, thanks so much will try it out! |
Nancee Russum 16.04.2011 | Windows version now available for the iPhone template: http://digitaldjtools.net/tools/touc...-iphone-dicey/ Added some new features (a new FX bank with Gater, Flanger and Lo-Fi effects) and fixed a few things. @djnotixx - I really don't blame you! Puredata is horrible to use. Just holding out on a Windows version of OSCulator coming out. It's in the pipleline apparently. Doubt it'll be any time soon though. Yeah, I'd love to see the split template and any vids you may have of it in action. |
Bill Aukes 16.04.2011 | Yeah sorry man i don't have the patience or the time for puredata honestly. Not at all. Props to you for trying to work it out. Anyways, I can upload all my files for the split layout if you want. It works great. I'll also post a video eventually |
Nancee Russum 16.04.2011 | Thanks for the comments, guys! PC version of the 'Dicey' template for iPhone will be next (and probably quite soon, ie., in the next few days). The 'Mashy' template will take a little longer though. PureData (the Windows equivalent to OSCulator), is so fiddly to use and there are quite a lot of buttons to be mapped! @djnotixx - Love the idea of splitting them across 2 devices! |
Bill Aukes 16.04.2011 | I used this, split it into two, so now I have a right and left dicer. Sickkkk |
Shay Terek 16.04.2011 | a PC version would be appreciated but regardless this is awesome! |
