APC40 Mapping Madness (Midi Fighter Style on APC40)
Posted on: 05.07.2010 by Lynetta Piacentino
This week I've ordered my Midi Fighter and as I cannot wait to receive it, I already started using the Midi Fighter mapping for Traktor by remapping it on my APC40!

The first result is now having row 5/6/7&8 (top 4 rows) mapped exactly as the DECK A mapping for Midi Fighter. I started to make slight adjustments to the LED's (as the APC40 has more options then the MF) and I went crazy playing with it! And I know that it's always cool to see other people's mappings, so I wanted to share mine as well! Both TSI (deck A only) and layout are attached. (don't forget to set the APC40 to 'dumb mode' via Albeton...).

I cannot wait for the original MF to arrive and test the ultra responsiveness and speed!!

(check out original files, new MF TSI file and info here http://www.djranking s.com/2010/06/3...lized-mapping/)

I'll continue to make it even more APC40 style and map a second deck asap (and move the first deck A to the left). But as I'm also playing with 2 and 4 deck TSI's an update might not come very soon

Thanks mate, i can see that there is alot of creative potential with using the APC just by treading thorough this thread and watching a few dj's in action on youtube. Im quite excited about the possibilities what i may be able to come up with myself once ive learned the in's and out's a bit more.

This sounds like the Ill Gates mapping that he sells on his website, it looked cool to me, but it seems to give a little less control, you're pretty much locked into using two tracks in ableton, and as far as I know it's not for traktor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prm6a9QbnhE

You could make a PDF portfolio.
You can make a page for every modifier state. And you can add extra notes in the comment section. Just open up the comment toolbar.

still, I believe houseq's mapping pictures look way better than mines. It's just easy for me to work with the pdf's

@joostiisme Ohh I love your templates that's what I started with until I read this post and he mentioned using fireworks to make a visual mapping. I had tried making my own template for the APC80 which resulted in the slowest computer ever, then I tried Illustrator, Photoshop, and your templates but that wasn't the right fit.

Using Fireworks is great it allows me to just place the txt anywhere I need to any size any color any font. House-Q is much cleaner at thou than I am, as my mock up isn't nearly as neat. I will post them both in there own thread once I am done but I am afraid it will only be useful to small group of people as I have my setup of an APC40+20 and Traktor in External Mixer mode. I also use 1 foot pedal with my APC40 for hands free modifiers.

@Timmio Sorry to go off topic a little here but it would just be nice to model how I present it to the community s after House-Q drawing/mapping that you designed as I believe it conveys everything and exactly what it does in a simple way. I currently have different colored txt to show the different modifier states but I may just make overlays that can be placed over the inital graphic to better describe what I have done with the mapping. The mapping itself isn't finished but I hope to have at least the APC40 half done within a week.

Regardless of if you release the .PNG to me or the public I still thank you for posting your mapping and your graphics as it has given me lots of inspiration for what I would like to do with my mapping and I have already left you a credit on the graphic as well as in a txt file. Thank You.

Hi, I'm new here and thanks for the mapping. I appreciate it greatly. I believe I need help. I have put the apc40 in dumb mode and started traktor. After that I've added the tsi file and everything works. Is there anyway I can reset my cue points in the middle of the song, or loop 8 bars or so and repeat? I didn't do any of the other instructions on the picture where it says set eq filtering to xone style. And the instructions before that in the picture. How would I do that? Im new to this so please bear with me. Thanks

I've been looking for an instant gratification style effects mapping for the apc 40, all of the other stuff that you've mapped here is great, I really like the setup, but since i'm running an s4 I wanna use the main buttons just like the instant gratification effects mapping, anyone heard of someone doing this on an APC40? I've looked around...

Hi,

I'm still looking for a Mapping for APC40 an Traktor Pro 2

I'd like to have the control for 2 or 4 deck including faders, crossdader, eq, filters, loops and cue.

Do you know if this is existing or not yet?

Thanks

Milky view, is for printing. Less color in the background makes the actual controls more easy to read, thats what they are all about.
The red text is because of the highlights. If you print the file, the highlights disappear, so the text wouldn't be visible.

I know they wont win a graphics design award. But they are real nice to use and enough work already like this:P

I'm glad you like them!

Hello guys, how are you?

I have spend some time in hospital (8 kidney stones) in the last weeks so I had much time to believe/change/map a little bit on the apc40... Monday I go finally at home and no I don' t have the apc with me just my laptop

I have made a 4 decks (A-C B-D) mapping of the HouseQ (steph) .tsi (without Ableton alternative mode) with send monitor state (have seen some .tsi where it works and have changed it to our mapping) (no final test)

and now Traktor 2 is out (have it and I love the new features)

I will make a mapping like this

left side Deck A right side Sample Deck C

I believe that would be really awsome....
but I must configure it and need some input "what you believe / and what you need" from the new things

have a changable pdf mapping here template derders

all the buttons/knobs/faders that I have not labeled are the same as mine old mapping

I don't know where to put the filter/volume faders/knobs
perhapse on the FX Unit 1 or 2 Knobs with a double setting (switch)

that worries me the last days...(additionally why I can't try it out at the moment)

but when it works it would be the best controller mapping around there

need help....

the Device Control has CH1 - CH9 so I can setup 9 different settings to it
when I put on the Nudge -+ a modifier that change the layers I can have 81 Knobs
am I right with that? (not that I need so much knobs )

salut

Hey your opinion is more then welcome! And for sure you're not an exception regarding the use of the APC40, as I mainly use it for FX and CUES either. But to make this more relevant for all users, and also to have some buttons close to the FX/CUE-action , I decided to add some buttons which indeed might be redundant.

And like you mention too; the APC40 has so many buttons, that having some redundant stuff in there isn't even a problem (although I might change it later into some usefull SAMPLE deck stuff !!)

Damn, can't wait to finalize the new TSI (need to work first )
Kathe Lefcourt
05.04.2011
That looks pretty epic!

My personal preference, which is honestly probably in the minority, would be to have more effects and less of the deck controls (pause, play, sync, EQ kills) on the APC. I'm already using a VCI-100 for the EQ knobs, transport controls, cross fader etc. with the APC being purchased primarily for sample buttons and effects (emphasis on effects).

Now, with that being said, the APC has so many freaking buttons that even with half of them being redundant, the 3.0 mapping was still pretty awesome.

This is just my opinion of course! I just want to re-iterate that I'm very grateful for your work on this so far as it has been an absolutely crucial piece of my setup.

I'm looking forward to see where this goes!

Updating the mapping for Traktor Pro 2

Next to updating the APC20 TSI for all new sample stuff in Traktor Pro 2 (see signature for correct thread), I'm also still busy with an updated version of the APC40 TSI !!!

This 4.0 version will contain:
- Less useless FX stuff (just one advanced unit now)
- Easier and more instant FX
- Added functionality for the sample decks
- Optimized layout for all chained FX controls
- Maximized use of buttons in the grid
- Leveled layouts of APC20 and APC40 (like FX buttons are now on the same row)
- Optimized usability of all buttons
- And even more

Check out this teaser mapping, the TSI will follow soon!!!

(let me know what you believe of this?)
