Kontrol X1 instant gratification 2 deck

Hi peeps,

Attached you'll find the templates to use in the controller editor to make the bottom 4x4 rows on a Kontrol to act as a midifighter.
This way, you can use the Instant Gratification mapping for Deck A and B on your X1.

You'll find 2 templates, since for some reason I had to lower all midi notes by 1 to make sure they come through correctly. If anybody knows the reason, could you please tell me, I have no idea why this happens.

Anyway, attached you'll find the 1-2, which according to the editor has the right notes assignments.
I have to use the 1-3 version, with all the midinotes lowered 1 value, to make sure the right notes are given to Traktor.

the basic knob page controls deck A, the shift knob page controls deck B.

Now I just need to figure out the magic of the instant gratification , it's right in front of me

I hope it saves some people some time to remap all the notes!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: import the template
  • download the attached zip file which contains the following files:
    - Kontrol 1-2
    - Kontrol 1-3
Kontrol 1-2 should be the right mapping, but for some reason my X1's needed all notes to be lowered by one to give the right output.
  • Open your controller editor (the program parralel installed with the kontrol x1 drivers.
  • Remove the current template on the right and choose to import the Kontrol 1-2 template.
  • In Traktor pro, check if the midi notes are the right ones by adding a random (test)function in the controller mapping, press 'Learn' and press the midi buttons. You can check if the values correspond with the values as listed in the scheme which you'll find attached.
  • If the notes differ by 1, redo steps 2 and 3 and import the Kontrol 1-3 template.

Step 2: import the Instant Gratification mapping
  • Download the Instant Gratification mapping from the DJTT site.
  • Import the IG Mapping and remove the [c] and [d] sets.
  • Make sure the in and output on te [a] and [b] mappings are either set to "all ports" or your kontrol x1 port (probably named Kontrol 1-1 in your scheme).

Step 3: Set the effects right
If for some reason the results (selected effects) are not the same as the Instant Gratification mapping, check your order of effects. Set them exactly as screencapped in this post: http://www.djranking s.com/community /sho...cts#post250009

That's it! Happy mashing buttons!

ok right after I posted this, I imported the default X1 mapping into Traktor and when I exit out of midi mode, the default controls don't do anything. Did I forget to do something or is there an updated mapping to go with the update from the control editor?

Thank YOU! I've been racking my brain to hurt trying to figure this out. Started with trying to edit the original Midi Fighter mapping and trying to learn how to make my own. I had forgotten about the controller editor.

yep. had it lit up... worked out the problem anyway. it was something with the controller editor. dunno what i did but now it's working fiiiiine!

Do you have the shift key lit up? That's how the switch between deck A and B works: shift key off is deck A, shift key on is deck B.

this mapping is 5 stars! works great! thanks!

the only problem i'm having (and some people had it as well but didn't say how they solved it ...) is that i can only use the IG mapping for Deck A. For some reason, it doesn't work on Deck B. Believe me, i've read this entire thread top to bottom, TWICE (lol) and i just can't understand what i've done wrong!

please help!

P.S - effects in right order. and i did try it in midi mode eheh. thanks guys!

first - sorry for my bad english I hope its ok for the community. The mapping is great. But any solution to map the tsi on 4 decks with 2 X1?

When you've changed the mappings/FX types in controller editor then export the settings so you have a ammended tsi saved.
don't forget you'll need to change the mappings in deck A and deck B mode.. don't forget to turn on the deck B light when mapping those FX presses..!

First off, thanks for the mapping, it's a brilliant idea. I'm currently having problems getting the effects to go in the right order. Whenever I import the mapping, Tape Delay, Ramp Delay, Auto Bouncer and Bouncer get booted to Available Effects side. The linked pictures that show the proper effects order are missing the middle section, but I'm assuming that the 4 belong in between Filter:92 and Phaser. So I keep inserting them there, and attempting to reset, but they get booted every time I reload the mapping.

Thoughts?

Skippy try the MF instant grad map 1.0.2 and arrange the FX properly listed in the link on the first couple pages. Everytime I try the 1.0.3 map I cant seem to get it mapped properly. BTW 1.0.2 works perfect for me.

when i put in a random in (yes im in midi mode) genereic midi an i press a notein learn it doesnt even register so i went on and imported the MDIG mappin but still nothing workedd

02.06.2011
@ skippy. I'm not sure what you're question really is. I do know that for some reason the actually note get's passed on in controller editor and for some the note -1 get's passed on, hence why I uploaded two templates.

For deck C and D, i would recommend you do the same when you're making your own template to check out which is correct for you.

When you say it doesn't work, I do assume you are in midi mode by pressing shift and hotcue together.

Doesn't it work at all or do you get totally different effects? did you check your order of effects like stated somewhere in this topic?

im using TSP 2 with maschines that controlls deck a & b on banks a & b on my actually maschines. Banks C & D both control there respective samplers. Banks G & H controll ableton for xtra fx. Also connected is my APC 40 that mainly controls ableton but also has mappings for a controllerism tech. i just recently got a x1 becuz of the IG mappings for it and here is my problem:
ok im having a very weird problem i havent seen yet in this thread, no matter if i load midifighter 1-2 or 1-3 its always 1 value off in traktor, for example on midifighter 1-2 loaded on the controller editor the in button on the x1 is midi note is C-0, now when i test it on traktor it says the midi note is C1. so i went ahead and loaded midifighter 1-3 in the controller editor, the controller editor says the midi note for IN button on the x1 is C-2 on traktor is says its C-1. also i have c and d of the mf banks removed theres only banks a & b and the effects r in the right order to as well but i can tell none of the effects r right for the buttons that do work pls someone explain this to me, im pretty knowledgable with computer and mapping, i do have a majority of the controllerism technique on this website and other website as well mapped to my setup pls help me i need these IG mappings they truly compliment the fx chains n technique i use....
BTW this website is the reason i <3 controllerism!!!!!! but pls help

Hello!

I have a question:

I'pretty good at midi mapping..
BUT: i just cant figure out how that supercombo on the midifighter works, you know the one where the beatmasher values are in creased and then the transpose kicks in and winds itself down... how do you make the transpose stretch wind itself down?
i hope you know what i mean...

I would like to make that mapping part of my controller..!?!?

Thanks in advance!

Use the TSI located in the mappings section of DJTT. Just lick the mappings tab above and download the regular MF IG map.

HELP!!
I'm in the same boat as you. I cant get it to work with TSP2. Ive downloaded the adjusted Controller editor files on this page of the thread. I dont understand why there is a 1-2 or 1-3 file to use for use with one X-1 unit. Which do i use? I tried following the directions but didnt understand fully what each step meant. Can you clairify these stpes

Remove the current template on the right and choose to import the Kontrol 1-2 template.
I simply Opened controller editor and went File - Open Template and it created the new Template on the right side. Is this correct?

In Traktor pro, check if the midi notes are the right ones by adding a random (test)function in the controller mapping, press 'Learn' and press the midi buttons. You can check if the values correspond with the values as listed in the scheme which you'll find attached.
I dont understand how to do this step. Sorry

If the notes differ by 1, redo steps 2 and 3 and import the Kontrol 1-3 template.
Are you refering to the CC# values?

I then went and downloaded the MF_FX4bank 1.0.2 tsi file and imported that into TSP2. Deleted banks C/D in the controller manager. And finally adjusted my effects so they match step 3 in the initial instructions, with the exception of the last 4 effects being new to TSP2.

When I imported the MF FX 4bank map it deleted my previous X1 device default map from the controller manager in TSP2? Then it switched me to Interneal 4deck mixer mode. Is it suppose to do this? I want to run IG map on my x1 with 2 deck scratch/2deck sample external mode.

Obviously I cant get anything to work properly. Could someone make a quick video? Maybe im missing something really easy here.

update

After re-reading the directions and starting over. I used the 1-3 updated file and I believe its working properly. Only thing i'm not sure of is the top row of 4 buttons, is it suppose to do anything? I'll keep reading aobut the MF map re-read this thread, maybe i missed something.

Have I said this IG map is amazing. Thank you so much!

Thanks Scott

Been playing with this for a few hours, working great There are some errors in the Shift pages of both of the templates though:
  • top left button on Midifighter1-2 Shift page should be assigned to C-1, not C1
  • top left button on Midifighter1-3 Shift page should be assigned to C-2, not C0
  • bottom right button on Midifighter1-2 Shift page should be assigned to D#3, not D3

I fixed that, and also made templates for a second X1 to control bank C & D (see attached file). Just use the Midifighter2-2 or Midifighter2-3 template for your second X1 in the Controller Editor, and assign bank C & D to Traktor Kontrol X1 - 2 in the Controller Manager.

If you changed the order of the FX after importing the midi fighter files you have to start over. Delete the midi fighter mappings, re-import and set the in and out ports.

Read the post/check the image with the order of effects.

If they aren't exactly the same the effect mappings will be off.
