Akai APC 40 - The ultimate Ableton controller?
Akai APC 40 - The ultimate Ableton controller? | |
Random X 31.03.2009 | Can't wait for my Akai APC 40 to arrive. |
Random X 31.03.2009 | Yeah, all can be found on the websites of Akaipro.com and Ableton live. Ableton website features a matrix in which the differences are set out against each other version. (I believe this has also been written in one of the earlier pages. ) |
Kaiser T Tran 31.03.2009 | Will the APC 40 have it's own bundled Ableton software? I've been holding out for Live 8. Is the bundled software going to be different than Live 8 (If so, are there any major limitations? I plan to use this controller mostly for production rather than performing) Also, what's the deal with no midi i/o on this unit? Should that be a concern? Thx! |
Random X 18.02.2009 | Thanks for the link bro'! Will be checking that one shortly! |
Paul Davison 18.02.2009 | second that tekki... also check this out http://www.akaiapc40.com/ it's empty but sure enough will fill up as people get their hands on it |
Random X 18.02.2009 | If all goes well, I will be testing one soon. |
Latrice Atcherson 17.02.2009 | This thing is going to be hundred bucks cheaper than the VCI-100... :| I just bought Traktor Pro... can't wait to hear people on this one with Traktor! |
Random X 11.02.2009 | Turk, there is enough reference on the community
, and more than enough reference on http://www.ableton.com and http://www.nativeinstruments.com Please visit these. Chilly, come on... kiss and make out... eh... up! |

Eartha Seideman 11.02.2009 | I'm curious about the pro's and con's of each with regards to functionality. For instance I heard that you need to do a lot of prep work on tracks on Ableton... |

I believe it comes down to, how you DJ/perform. (Try comparing Moldover, who uses Ableton to remix, with Ean Golden, who turntablism-a-like routines by using Traktor). Being that this controller is designed for Ableton, does not mean you can't use it with Traktor though. |
Eartha Seideman 11.02.2009 | Okay, so.... Will this unit require an external sound-card, such as the vci-100? Or is it built in? Is the functionality well suited for live sets, DJing? It seems like ableton is subpar compared to tractor pro for DJing capabilities, am I comparing apples and oranges? Thanks, |
Random X 04.02.2009 | Hey, no proBLAMMO, as always, glad to help out! |

Xavier Emanuels 26.01.2009 | It comes with a watered down version of Ableton - with the functionality somewhere between Ableton LE and Ableton Live. You could use it with Traktor Pro if you wanted to without the need for the software it comes with too. Yes, you could connect them both at the same time. |
Tommy Wiehoff 26.01.2009 | dude i saw this thing on the namm 2009 video and since then i cant stop believeing about it. there are a few online stores that are already selling them and as soon as i get my check from work im buying one 4sure. i have 2 questions, is it necessary to have Ableton live 7 or some version of ableton for it to work or does it come with software you can use out of the box? and also i have a vci-100, would i be able to connect both the vci-100 and the apc40 to my mac and use them at the same time?? thanks for the help in advance |

Latrice Atcherson 17.01.2009 | Check the video out, it looks great! The feedback on the knobs is pretty neat! http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=nydOFGR3ZIA |
Branden Kern 18.01.2009 | Hmmm how about the vcm600 + the korg zero 8 + this baby = just for show...yeah and what Bento mentioned above about rotary knobs is a bit off a turn off...Hey Luis when you played with the VCM-600 were the knobs rotaries or were they non-rotaries? |
DJ JoBlaze 17.01.2009 | I believe the list is going to be about 499$ usd. |
