Less than a week (VMS4). What to do?
Less than a week (VMS4). What to do? Posted on: 23.04.2010 by Shay Wyche D'oh!I've mis-read the delivery due date, it's a month to go. I'm seriously considering selling my EKS Otus to fund buying an American Audio VMS4. It's around a week until they hit the stores in the UK - link - I believe I really want one of these, as it has a great layout, it will do everything I need it to do and it's relatively cheap. My days of gigging are more or less over (I'm 37 years old now and haven't played out for 6 years), this seems too good to be true for me. Has anyone actually got there hands on one yet? | |

Adrien Hochstrasser 09.08.2010 | Looks very promising. Kind of like a budget Xone:4D except 25% of the price. For those of you knocking rubber buttons, I like rubber buttons! Think of them as a midi pad, not a midi fighter... |
Leeanna Ayla 09.08.2010 | Wow that's bad. Maybe I'll go post that NI teaser video in all those threads. |
daniela klein 09.08.2010 | Looks like I'll be waiting for version 2 -- if I don't end up with the new NI controller). |
Kecia Wnukowski 09.08.2010 | I was having a look at the vms4's community to get the first feedbacks around the unit, for those interested you should have a look too. Makes you believe twice. |
Shay Wyche 09.08.2010 | VMS4 skin!!!! |

Leann Zugay 08.08.2010 | Archie I believe the question between the two is whether or not you see yourself needing jog wheels to mix, if not I would say go with ddm. One of my buddies has one and he rips a set with just the mixer and a couple other little gadgets without jogs. You'll also save a bunch of money on buying the ddm |

Shay Wyche 08.08.2010 | I just want a few decent reviews of this before I decide whether to buy it or the DDM4000 for home use. * They're even available on Ebay now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/American-audio...073257ff28e643 |
Lillia Doc 08.08.2010 | What about the new NI controller? I feel it looks abit better as it stands now |
Errol Bernabei 08.08.2010 | UK store decks.co.uk stock levels say its in stock. There usually pretty spot on I was on the phone to them on Monday and they said they were taking stock before Friday. Nothing slid though like its in my hands right now. |
Cristian Carmona 08.08.2010 | so is it here yet? |
Errol Bernabei 08.08.2010 | Rather than throw up a new thread I thought i would tag it on the end of this. I am getting my VMS4 pretty soon but i require a bag for it. Now I know they are making a flightcase but I need something a bit more portable than that like a UDG or a magma bag. Does anyone know of something which would let me get a VMS4 in? Dimensions (LxWxH): 19”x12.75”x1.5” / 482x325x40mm |

VMS4 is currently in production at our factory in China. American Audio USA will begin receiving it's first shipment the last week of July. American Audio Europe should receive their first shipment the first week of August.

VMS4 - VELOCITY MIDI STATION
AVAILABLE JULY 2010 |
Latoria Kavulich 02.07.2010 | End of july would be perfect for me. we've just spent about 5k on a PA, mixer etc so have to start saving again lol. @ Sherpa. Yeah its a bulky unit mate, All good tho as long as there's a solid case available. If not, well i can design and bulid one pretty easy, used to design speaker cabs for car stereos a few years back ;p |
Antonetta Wikel 01.07.2010 | @ tiger style - LOL Yeah I'm beginning to believe that the VMS4 & the Otus Raw are really just vaporware. |

Irwin Ney 18.05.2010 | lol I completely misunderstood it, I do agree with rubber buttons beign worse then plastic buttons |
Corine Kasman 18.05.2010 | Its not the knob, its the button in rubber that is poor. The rubber adds another spring in the chain of command and doesn't give the tactile response thictool is looking for (correct me if I'm wrong, dude). Arcade buttons are one of the best choices for the tactile control (they are designed for exactly that), but take up real-estate and are not really compatible with modern mass production techniques (surface mount, etc.). Your Oxy keys are designed for tactile responce and therefore also a good choice for control, but they too are real-estate hungry. I recently picked up a Xone DX and am unimpressed by the hot cue buttons on the front. Sure they will cue your song, but they don't feel "playable". And they are plastic. Phil. P.S. @thictool, no problem with the tap test. If I give it an almighty rap (knuckles, not finger tips) in the middle of the faders, the right layer button trips but only that. |
Irwin Ney 18.05.2010 | I agree with you man, I can now understand what you are trying to say, sorry if I sound too rude, sometimes my English writing can be pretty limitated I still don't get why rubber buttons are so worse then the plastic ones because the only gear I had in my life is my used Oxygen 8 v2 with plastic "short" knobs and I can't compare with a unit with rubber knobs... Can you elaborate it a bit more? Do you believe that the rubberized knobs (http://ranking s.myshopify.com/produ...-sliders-black) at the DJTT store are worse then the plastic VCI-100 ones or the plastic colored knob pack (http://ranking s.myshopify.com/produ...d-knob-packs)? |

Its a know fact that rubber buttons are NOT accurate . Im basically bitching about American Audio's decision making. They finally make a unit that can bridge the gap for so many DJs, yet they choose questional material that cant be changed. The VMS seems to suffer from questionable Jog Wheels & Soundcard, and in my opinion questionable rubber buttons. If American Audio is going to take short cuts, at least they could do it in a way where we could change the aspect of what we were unhappy with. The Jogs, Buttons & Soundcard are non replacable. I could care less about a company name or brand or weither its considered PRO equiptment or not. I would use anything that suited my needs. For the record I loved the BCR 2000 and BCF 2000 (which BTW doesnt have RUBBER BUTTONS) Numark isnt exactly known for their reliability or quality products, yet when they decided to make the NS7, they up-ed the game by leaps and bounds and made a kick ass product. Sure the NS7 costs alot but its totally high end. Im just saying that American Audio could have really changed the game here by making the VMS a higher end peice of equiptment, but instead, what we get is, yet another low priced mid-level controller. Sure VMS boasts cool new features, but it also majorly falls short on specs. I wouldnt mind spending a couple hundred more dollars for a controller that has all the bells and whistles the VMS has if it had a better soundcard, better jog wheels & better buttons. Why make another mid-level controller with all these cool new features and then skimp in other areas that are so important? |
