DJTT Knobs & Faders - Fitting Guide / Discussion

hai guys,

do the knobs in the DJTT Store fit a Xone 42?

I used to have one but it broke and i dont remember ever taking the knobs off but now i remember just how short they were. I probably threw it away but ill take a look later to see if i still have it. My best guess is that the knobs will fit but that the lpd shaft is very short and thus it wouldnt take much force at all for the djtt knob to be pulled off..

Someone posted this picture of a knob of the LPD8 in another thread before:

i believe i ordered on friday and they got to ny with standard usps shipping today.. pretty fast

see the twitch thread for twitch review + pics..

Kontrol X1 -
- both the fat + slim knobs fit well and sit flush on the unit. though their was one particular knob that seemed to go a lil too close to the unit so I shoved a tiny piece of paper in the tube and problem solved.
- They look and feel good on the x1. I am only replacing 4 knobs as I always thought the x1 had nice knobs to begin with. Im replacing the browse knobs and the efx D/W knobs to give some color differentiation to different functions. I've pressed the loop knob when I've meant to press the browse knob once or twice
- DJTT knobs seem to be built for the kontrol series and have perfect fits and look great. My only complaint would be that the encoder knobs didnt really need the notch but not a big deal. I suppose it could be useful in some cases.

DB4 -
- Faders fit but may be SLIGHTLY too flush to the unit (very very very slightly - maybe no worse than the stock fader caps). I believe its workable and I'm going to replace the x-fader and 2 of the channel faders for now and I'll reach a verdict on whether they stay or go (hence why I'll keep 2 stock faders on for now so I can do comparison). I do hope they stay as the stock db4 x-fader caps are a little flimsy for my tastes..
- EQ knobs, etc - I didnt intend to replace these as the db4 has some nice chunky knobs already but just for fun, I tried.. they fit on perfectly but basically the notch is backwards so not a workable situation.. in other words twisting the knob all the way to the left will show the notch somewhere on the right side.

DJM900 -
- Couldnt test the faders as the caps dont come off. I wouldnt replace these anyways as their stock fader caps are nice imo.
- EQ knobs, etc - same as db4 - they fit perfectly but they are backwards..
- Wont be replacing anything here as a) nothing seems to fit properly b) im getting rid of the mixer in a few weeks c) I believe the djm900 knobs + faders feel great already.

TWITCH - see my other thread for more details. In short, the small push encoder knobs are good replacements and sit almost flush with unit. Faders are a great fit and a great upgrade. But the EQ-style knobs fit well but sit very high so you can see about half an inch of the metal stub exposed.

MIDI CONTROLLERS vs MIXERS -
- it seems like the knob stubs are opposites at least from the 2 mixers + 2 midi controllers I tested the djtt knobs on. Is this industry standard for some odd reason? Or perhaps its manufacturer specific?
- From what I can tell faders seem to be pretty standard fitting

SUGGESTIONS FOR ENHANCEMENTS FOR DJTT SHOULD THEY WANT TO EXPAND THE LINE -
- Make a version of the fat knob that is 'encoder-style' - i.e. no notch
- Make a reverse version of the slim knobs (basically put the notch on the other side so it fits mixers).

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
- Feels good + looks good at first glance
- For the gear it fits on, it fits well and has a great feel to them
- Worth $2-3 imo to customize some of your gear.

Few pics to give you a sense of the fits..

Yeah I'm believeing cardboard or maybe plastic with a precise thickness so they are all even.

Hardening liquid might work but I won't be able to get it out if the measurement is slightly off.

I assume that means jam some extra material inside the knob but it would be cool to know how many millimeters so I could buy a sheet of stuff to cut.
I believe you are on the money with that one, just wait get them measure how much more clearance you need then go buy the material?

I can't get the DJTT store to add a VCI-100 value pack to my cart btw, it says "please specify the quantity of the product(s)."

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or is the store acting up?

If you do sort a uk djtt out I'm a photographer / videographer with a studio I might be able to spare some time to help out also dabble in a bit of graphic design. If you need any help.... Just don't let it end up like pimp my ride uk!

we are proud to announce an exclusive line of high performance knobs and faders
I loll'd :P

They do actually look really nice though! Shame about the price. Buying these little components in small numbers is always stupidly costly
