Ervin Calvery 11.02.2013 | @The Twin NI doesn't do NAMM. |
Kiyoko Wellisch 11.02.2013 | Eh, I'm sure they are making horrendous amounts of money from their hardware :P |
Charissa Paganucci 11.02.2013 | Anyone else believe it was a rush completion for Namm? |
Charissa Paganucci 11.02.2013 | I'll put it out there, an stick my neck out .... N/I should really stick to making killer software, and drop the controller game. Their s2/s4 is not going to stand the test of time, and thus far the Z2's paint can't even stay on their platforms. N/I needs to step up their quality control before DJ joe anybody goes and drops their hard earned $$ on these machines. Stick to Denon,Numark, pioneer and Vestax etc if you want long lasting quality. I lost faith in N/I controllers long, long, long ago. Look past the hype people! |
Shad Rametta 11.02.2013 | Yeah, like I said, there are more than a couple software issues with the Z2 as well. 1.) Latency w' pads for Cue Points, Sample Triggers, etc.. 2.) CPU spikes 3.) TT's not being recognized......this is a HUGE bug that has affected lots of peeps!!! 4.) Input/Output routings keep getting lost....Z2 ends up stuck in Internal or External Mode which requires Setup Wizard!!! 5.) Randomly, the lights will flicker and the various controls will behave erratically!! These, and the previously mentioned hardware issues, are what kept me from purchasing the Z2 at this time. Now I realize that they will eventually work out these software issues, but honestly, who can afford to wait while they do? I mean, God forbid any of these issues manifest themselves during a gig! It's fine if you are rocking it out for your kid's stuffed animal collection at home, and these issues arise....but not in front of a crowd at a club, rave, bar, etc.. that's unacceptable!! NI should have charged a couple hundred more, and brought out a truly professional, scratch oriented mixer! Hopefully, they will learn from these mistakes and bring out a better option for the scratch heads w' a Mark II Edition, and maybe even a DJM900 killer w' a 12" version. |
Kiyoko Wellisch 11.02.2013 | Anything else you don't like other than the lack of FX loop (which blows), the stiff faders and crappy deteriorating faceplate? |
Shad Rametta 11.02.2013 | The Z2 is riddled w' issues, and they aren't just skin deep....though, I really didn't expect it not to be. This is NI's first attempt at this after all!! I am sure that the Z2 MKII or Z4 will be muuuuuch better mixers. It's for it's few hardware, and many software issues that I had to pass on getting it. I REALLY wanted it, but stiff upfaders, really? That was easily my BIGGEST GRIPE on the hardware side of things!! Note to Mixer Manufacturers....DJs don't need to be coddled like little babies. For decades prior faders had little resistance, and now for the past few years or so, companies are making them quite stiff as if beginners are incapable of making precise volume adjustments without them. But I suppose that's a bigger argument for a different thread. Anyhoo, I hope this X1600 I just bought ends up being a smart decision. If anyone at NI reads this......please add Efx Sends/Returns to your next mixer. Forcing people to remain in the digital ecosphere is both restrictive, and annoying. Some of us still like analog effects in addition to digital! |
Georgie Lukowiak 10.02.2013 | was actually considering this for a setup with CDJ's . Everyone was talking about how solid the build quality is and then I see this ! Well , hopefully the new faceplates are coming soon! |

Shad Rametta 10.02.2013 | Yeah, the glossy bit in the middle of the S2/4 is plastic...........the glossy bit on the Z2 is polished aluminum. Or at least the one's I checked out were. |
Kiyoko Wellisch 09.02.2013 | We're talking about the glossy middle bit, right? It sure wasn't aluminium on the demo unit I played about with. |
Shad Rametta 09.02.2013 | I know that it's acrylic/plastic on the S2/S4..that's exactly what I said!!! It's "highly polished aluminum" on the Z2, hence the reason that it's wearing off so quickly.!!! |

Kiyoko Wellisch 09.02.2013 | I believe the difference there is that no one expect a skateboard's artwork to last that long. A mixer isn't quite the same. |
Ada Matzkin 09.02.2013 | i remember when i used to skateboard and there were kids that actually tried to save the graphics on the bottom of the board... we called them posers. |
Jeromy Bana 07.02.2013 | I believe the the plexi on the S4 & Z2 just looks so cheap.. we all know it will scratch up with normal wear and tear. And NI should know better believeing the silkscreen would stick to plastic. they need to put it "under" the plastic so you can see it though the plastic or etch (or carve) it into the plastic and fill in the etching with paint. |
Shan Bauerly 07.02.2013 | NI just doesn't care. |
Irwin Ney 07.02.2013 | What a big fail. How they could not see this happening with test units? I mean, I'm sure that all those DJs that made those promo videos had more then 30 hours of work to produce and record the routines, right? This could only happen if the test units were not labeled or didn't had the interchangeable faceplates that we are seeing on the market right now.... |

Brunilda Kora 25.01.2013 | Manual beat matching only. Strictly for pro's and better. |
Evia Nitch 24.01.2013 | Can it be midi synchronised to a Maschine? |
Brunilda Kora 24.01.2013 | Ah, well, when you set the pointer to a sheep, and pull the cord, you'll hear "A sheep says baa-aa"... Batteries not required. |
