Horror DJ pictures/videos !
Posted on: 15.11.2011 by Makkins Clifton
Warning: This thread is only for DJs with steady nerves and propensity for self-flagellation

Post pictures (and eventually videos if you're out of ideas*) of situations every DJ is afraid of or which just hurt when watching them.

I start:

This photo was taken at the Future music Festival in Melbourne Australia

* Save the others time and don't post videos of CDJs failing on Tiesto. Everyone has seen them (and mischievously grinned) by now.

Then you sure don't know New Kids... Everything they say is just dialect and decay (don't know how to say 'Verbastering' in English).

They just speak Dutch but with major influences from the German language.

Edit: After hearing it again, well it just bad German or heavily decayed Dutch. I'm Dutch and I can understand him, but German and Dutch are not so different!

he actually says: "du bleibst verdammt nochmal von meinem bier weg, du fickschnitzel!"
this sentence defo got nothing to do with the dutch language this is indeed german language
in dutch he should be saying something like: "damn it! vinger uit de buurt van mijn bier, je fickschnitzel!"

AHH YEAH!

Cheers! Was wondering if anyone was gonna listen.

Thanks mate. Was one of my first recorded mixes to be given out at parties etc.

It was an exciting time for Psytrance and Cape Town. We were really coming into our own in the production side of things and this just worked!

Only horror stories here :
*A friend playing a gig at a club noticed his shit had gone missing not too long before his timeslot. That's an Audio8 + X1 + cables + TC's gone (laptop was somewhere else).

*School party, friends playing electroclashy stuff (this was around 2002), then EPIC SCREECHING SOUNDS, everybody went nuts believeing it was some kind of live "Rolling and scratching" kinda thing. Not so much after ten minutes of the same thing, when it turned out someone had knocked a beer into the (rental) amp.

Celebrity fail :
*a knackered SL1200 RCA forced Steve Bug into messing about with the setup for 20 minutes trying to get calibration while spinning a kickass set. In the end he just used one deck + internal like a boss (X1 controlled). The next guy started with full internal while the tech guys brought up a spare SL1200.
*Crosstown Rebels "Rebel Rave" party in a circus-like venue on a rainy evening . Some droplets coming through the so-called roof could be felt here and there on the dancefloor, but nothing serious. At 5 am, somehow the music went KZZZZT. Lazarus just hid under the table while the techs worked their asses off trying to figure out what it was. Somehow the main power bar right next to the CDJs and mixer had gone bust. They replaced it and pulled a tarp over the cabling.

I was lucky enough to miss the weather-havoc (on a open air party) just by a matter of 2-3 minutes. There was thick rain/ice and wind blowing ceramic roof-top covers to the ground. Had my laptop, presonus firebox and my mixer on the table. That was a close call.

quadruple-post FTW?

I'll give it a listen at work.

This was in 2005....on CDJ's...and a 2 channel mixer. So basic stuff.
At least 80% is choosing the right tunes. Most other stuff can be forgiven.
