Anybody follow cycling? Wiggins looked good in the Dauphine, but I believe all the other guys looked better in the Tour de Suisse. Contador is probably still pretty tired from winning the Giro so I believe that's going to make it a more exciting race this year. We've got a couple of Americans that I believe can pull a top 10, but I'm doubtful on podium spots. Leipheimer in third would be the best we could hope for there I believe.

Never been more than one ITT in the tour.

That whole thing has been a farce forever. Maybe he changed his mind about racing the Vuelta now.

Contador's CAS hearing just been postponed AGAIN Chris - its become a farce.

How did I miss this thread :O

Anyway Cadel deserves the win. He is the strongest rider all around, doesn't take risks just to put on a show and seems to be most intelligent rider in the Tour (Thor definitely is up there too, but Cadel and Thor don't really compete for the same thing). BMC also seemed to be really strong compared to Saxo Bank. They get Thor on the team and we might see a team that could take control (not something I want, but some of the riders seems to be uncomfortable with the lack of the a control team)

Everyone would like to see Andy or Frank win. They seem so sympathetic Dunno if this is available outside of Denmark, but it's a great documentary about Andy training for the Tour http://www.dr.dk/Sporten/Dokumentar/.../14/091415.htm. It's fun to watch the other riders "complaining" about Andy and Frank only using 75% of their "power" when they use 100%. Andy seems to be having a hard time understanding that he is so much better compared to his teammates.

Best tour in years. First time AUS winner, first time two brothers take 2. and 3. place, first time a rider wins the last stage in Paris 3 times in a row. Wonderful tour.

the Manx fastest sprinters in the world, not bad for a small island of about 80,000 inmates well done Cav

Meh, my guy didn't win. I suppose Cadel really was the best, but I and the crowd from what I could here wanted Any to win. Cav got green despite Prudhom's best efforts so that's awesome. All in all though it was one of the best tours I've seen in many many years. Wonder what will happen in the Vuelta.

Well done Cadel Evans. Andy and Frank on the podium together - priceless. Well done Cav - spectacular 2nd kick. Unsung heroes - George Hincapie and Ivan Basso. A brilliant tour all round.

There will be a contest tomorrow...for Cav and that's it. If someone else tried to take yellow they would never ride the tour again.
Lin Danek
23.07.2011
Well done Evans - he took it fair and square. Andy and Frank gave it their best shot, but they got homework to do. Contador went to the wire, but is proof that the days of a TdF/GdI 'double' are over. I know it would be a serious break in tradition, but considering the deficits, would this not be a situation to contest the last day?

Spectacular race.

I'm so excited for tomorrows tt's its not even funny. as much as I like andy shleck, I have a distinct feeling that Cadel is going to take yellow tomorrow. even if Andy doesn't win the tour, he's still going to win the polka dot jersey

Didn't see Contador's comeback coming Chris, but Andy looks unpeturbed. Apparently his knee is an issue - he had to change his climbing technique, so maybe the same goes for his TT. Two solo days will certainly have taken it out of Evans. Good comeback by Voeckler - he MUST be looking at a podium. TT it is. Go Andy!

21.07.2011
That's exactly what I was believeing about Cadel, especially after Frank hits them all on Alpe d'huez.
Lin Danek
21.07.2011
The Galibier from the other side and Alpe D'Huez - I can't wait. I believe we'll get our maillot jaune today Chris. Evan's solo efforts might have neutralised his TT threat. Besides, Trek have the most advanced air-tunnel testing facility, and knowing Andy's 'weakness', they may have worked on his TT. Kudos to Voeckler, but a squabbling peleton DID aid his cause. Contador needs a miracle.

All systems go - snow on the peak but clear. Interesting that Contador sees the Galibier as more important than AdH. Boassen Hagen deserved that one. I hope Andy comes good. Voeckler's starting to unravel.

this is the 1st tour ive watched, and to be honest ive never really watched the cycling before. And im really enjoying it, watching the majority of every stage in work on sky player lol.. what pisss me off is i get to watch most of it without interuption and then when it gets to like the last 2k i get mythered to death and usually miss the end haha... i believe Thomas Voekler seems a nice guy, and he seems to be doing well keeping with them over the pyrinees, he had a couple of close calls today on the descen, 2 of tem ended up in that little carpark/driveway on one particular bend lol... ive just swapped my mountain bike for a hybrid, i now want a road bike lol...i believe these guys are like machines and most seem fearless the speeds they get to on the way down. looking forward to tomorrows stage

Andy's whining again.

I've had issues with Riis ever since he threw his bike in the time trial that one year. I also noticed Contador tossed his bike into the ditch one day and chuckled to myself when he did it.

If Andy cracks and can't win my support will shift to Frank, Voekler, and Basso in that order. I used to really like Cadel because he was one of the first mountain bikers to switch to full time road and do good. Now he just grates me the wrong way.

Thor is truly mighty!! There's no break for the first 70 K and he makes it into the one that gets away. That's a feat in itself, but to get into it with a team mate is awesome.

The Riis/Contador alliance is shrewd. Andy looks VERY grumpy. Big George AGAIN holding it together for Cadel, Voeckler continuing to impress, Thor's thunder. Damn its getting exciting. I believe your prediction on the individual TT being crucial may be prophetic.

Cav was one minute inside the elimination time the day before. To come back after pushing that hard in the mountains is just amazing. I've always been a huge Hincapie fan, the man epitomizes what teamwork and peleton leadership should be.

I believe Voekler's ace in the hole is that he can go downhill faster than anybody. I look for him to attack at the top of the cat 1 climb tomorrow and descend like a madman. I believe he can get a minute on the descent and maybe hold 30 seconds of it up the final climb and the final descent. I also believe the five HC climbs over the next two days though will do him in, but that's what they said about Greg LeMond.

Well done Cav - and they say he can't come from that far out! (BTW - new rules for the green jersey AGAIN next year). Voeckler is going to be declared a saint, and so he should. My 'unsung hero' (sure you'll agree Chris) - Big George. Did you you notice how many times his name cropped up? Cadel has a lot to thank him for.

As far as the big names go Evans is ahead and the best in the time trial so he's believeing he doesn't need to do anything. Contador is waiting for the alps and Riis pretty much announced that in an interview. The Schlecks on the other hand confuse me. They need time, attacked way to early today (you don't get the time they need in 3k though) and can't seem configure what to do in general. Frank seemed to have taken to much out of the bank yesterday so these next few days will be good for him.
