No haughtiness at all sir.

To me, a language suggests a tool used to communicate, Be it with a machine or otherwise!(Unless I'm really dense, and don't understand the meaning of the word language. Full disclosure, I have been called it before ) No need to say because I can't talk to you in Python, that Python is not a language , it's just not a natural one. It is artificial by definition, but I would argue still fully qualifies as a language. I just believe that maybe the scope of how your professor qualifies a language may be narrow, but at the same time who am I to discredit him (I mean this with all seriousness).

Actually I also should have at least reading skills in French (I definitely need to be able to read scholarly literature published in French, Italian wouldn't hurt either), but I suck at it. I somewhat get by with trying to grasp the larger context and then figuring out the details when I believe it's important for my research - but I really should invest some time to get better at it. Which I can't see me doing anytime soon.

Didn't work out with the girl I met then Dustin?

Personally I speak English as my mother tongue and I'm reasonably fluent in German and Spanish.

When I was 16 I had conversational French but now I can barely string a sentence together! Still understand a fair bit.

Plutonian

I tried Klingon, but the spitting is revolting.
Ah and Ferengi. I love always having to wheel and deal, when speaking with them. They are always looking for profit. You wouldn't have guessed, but there are a lot of CEOs in the US who are actually Ferengi. The Men in Black have been watching over them for some time now and there will soon be a crack down, because their greed is getting out of hand.

OP's vid made me so fucking jelly.
I speak English, Russian, and German completely fluently, and have done so since my childhood, and am conversationally fluent in French. I even have published translations, so I feel like I put my language skills to good use. Then I see something as staggering as the OP video, and it really makes me either want to ragequit, or try so much harder...

Finnish is an absolutely ridiculous language, I can't for the life of me understand how people manage to learn it.

Anyhow, I'm only bilingual, I speak Swedish (native) and English fluently.
