Okay. So played out at my first house party the other evening . Lugged my 1200's, Serato, Computer... all that jazz and blasted a 5pm-1am set out (house/dubstep/dnb/breaks all over the place honestly, but worked it well). My good buddy got there around 9pm and hooked up his SCS w/ Traktor and we went back and forth for the rest of the evening.

Something I've never realized before, and have been TERRIBLE about doing to my friends?

Talking to people when mixing.

Dude, fucking hell. Props to everyone who deals with that shit. Was my first time ever having to deal with that. I've honestly just mixed at home, or with friends in their homes up to this point.

Shit is difficult. More difficult that I thought.

Probably the biggest lesson learned of the evening . Conversations in the middle of mixing is terrible for all parties involved.

pisses me off weekly, last evening i tried to explain to a girl that i needed her to hold on a minute, she thought i was ignoring her and tried to get in front of me, literally between me and the mixer!! lesson i learned a while ago was to keep some post-it notes and a bunch of cheapo pens with you and just tell people to write their requests down.. much easier

It can be irritating, there is only 1 person i can actually communicate with during a mix and it's the head DJ at my residency..

I hate when people come in and try and speak mid mix before i have time to kick them out the booth! But you have learned a valuable lesson
