Hardwell DJ set at Ultra! or was he actually DJ'ing. Hardwell, the most recent winner of the IDMA for best european DJ and best remixer, posted a pic by rukes today on his instagram, facebook, and twitter accounts. The first thing I noticed was that 3 out of 4 decks are completely visible and show absolutely no tracks loaded in them. The time of the picture looks about 3/4s of the way through his set because of the low sunlight and if you watched the video of his set it was sunny for the first 40 minutes or so. Any CDJ owner knows that the decks only look the way they do in the pic when you power on the player or eject the source of your music whether it be CD, USB, SD, or Link. And there is no reason to do any of the in the middle of a set at Ultra Music Festival. Basically, I believe he premixed his set which is disappointing considering the awards he has just won. However, I still respect him as a Producer/DJ and dont want to take away from his reputation but I just wish he would have put more effort into a set like Ultra because I know everyone on this community
would kill for a spot on that stage and we would do it the right way mixing live on the spot.
Heres the pic and Link:

If you guys would check his broadcast (

Left arm with spreaded hand in the air, right arm at the djm, evening
sky, green light at crowd and blue led (can be seen a few secs later) in the sky.
So, let's see. it was 'Get Loose' (Tiesto Remix) by Noisecontrollers.
You guys notice something? Yes, it was his LAST song, so that is the reason why all visible CDJ's on the picture have no track loaded.
So stop calling him a cheater or liar or what else.
He IS one of the top DJ's in the world. Or do you believe the jury of IDMA would give him his awards if he would play a pre-coded set?
Have a nice day, and stop hating.
You just owned every. single. little. mug. on this site....great work mate.
Anyone who posted negative comments about this wind your necks in and worry about your own lives.

I don't care how good they are whether they're the best live dj or not. U waste money on their cds and you waste more to hear them play top hits. I've been to some and its a disappointment. The live bands seems to be better. ... |

Joesph Kasian 23.05.2013 | It is hilarious that you believe he deletes his own comments - even low-income artists have people who run their facebook pages and are instructed to delete or hide comments which reflect badly on the artist. Hardwell won't even know the comment ever existed.

On a side note, if your getting the indication that I hate Hardwell, I don't. I'm just telling people what I saw and making it known. I still have mad respect for Hardwell as both a producer and dj. He is good at both and his ultra set was amazing to listen to no doubt, but if he did it live I would probably have labeled him as a god lol.
I'm aware of how CDJs work. Like I said, you clearly see him looping a song on the mixer on his left and then while it's looping you hear him bringing in another track. I guess he is pretending to loop is also. Maybe it's the last song of his set so no songs are loaded or just nothing is loaded... Honestly, I don't care if you like him or not. You can have your opinion, just be open minded a bit. From 1 picture you're quick to judge and because he deleted a comment on facebook. Maybe the guy that commented it deleted his own comment, or his manager told him to delete it so it doesn't start rumors. Anyways, I don't care anymore. Too close minded to admit you could be wrong so there's no point. |

Also in the picture the 3 cdjs have no tracks loaded in them and you can't correctly dj with cdjs with only one deck. The only time a cdj shows no track loaded is when it has just started up and no media source has been loaded or the media source was ejected. Now why would you not load or eject the media source halfway through your set? Please explain to me how there is no proof now

That's the latest Seraktor feature. You mix with a fist pumping gesture, it will analyse how hard you do it and chose a matching banger. |

And if he isn't perfect the quick transitions he made would be very difficult for him to do as "perfectly" as he did and mistakes would be much easier to catch.
Towards the end of the video. If they don't focus on his mixing then why is everyone saying how "you don't see him on the CDJs once all evening
" ...if you watch, you will see him a couple of times. They don't focus on his mixing so you can't really judge and when you do this for a living 4 times a week and are paid millions it's practice makes perfect. His set wasn't that perfect, and fast transitions are easier. Longer transition = more room for error. If you know your music it ain't hard to mix fast, especially house music which is pretty much all the same pattern. |

Why would your friend go watch him? His story will be a bit bias, so I don't really believe this story because no DJ is that stupid to do that. Maybe it was a mashup. |

I still have mad respect for the dude. He does have great song selection in my opinion whether it's prerecorded or not. I just would appreciate it if he just went the extra mile to do a live set when he played at ultra. He's also a great producer. |

After all, over half of the "mixes" people REALLY like -now a days- are produced in Ableton or the DAW like to give them more of a "cutting edge". I'm sure most of the ideas hit the mind when working on the tables, but the shear amount of creativity involved is still there with the automation stuff. Think of it like producing a "mix" instead of a track.
