Need Advice Choosing Setup!
Need Advice Choosing Setup! Posted on: 09.04.2013 by Anabel Sanderfoot So if spent hours amongst endless hours within the past week trying to figure out what controllers i want to use.Im down to two x1s and i want to add an Ipad with the Traktor Dj App I need advise on what Mixer i would need Audio Interface i would need. And Other Equipment I would need to Buy to get the setup going | |
Anabel Sanderfoot 10.04.2013 | So basically so everyone knows i started this thread cause ill have 800$ Friday to either purchase an all in one controller or go modular Alot of pros and cons for both sides. I want to get a set up together that also allows room to add an ipad on the side in the future. |
Towanda Roads 10.04.2013 | Get a Xone K:2 or wait for the MM-1 but the xone will give you a 4-channel soundcard and has dedicated pages that you can add anything very easily. I use a launchpad and a K-2 to do everything in traktor except for key control need to figure out what page I want that on haha. This type of setup would allow you to run everything on usb only. Its nice only have to plug in a comp charger. |

You can integrate it into your setup, but it's too early to worry about building around it. Like others have said, get an S2 and learn how to mix. It's really easy to get into gear lust and forget why you started playing music in the first place. |

If you want to keep it simple then xoneK2 would be right choice for starting out and learning basics... You can always add new gear from there and keep K2 for effects or mixer. |
Gaynell Rydberg 11.04.2013 | Yes. I'm almost 100% sure that you still aren't understanding why you're buying the sound card though. Go over NI's website and read their product descriptions and manuals for the sound cards. |

Anabel Sanderfoot 11.04.2013 | Anyways Im believeing im going to get an audio 2, and an external mixer for mic and "master output" i believe its called. So say i didn't have an external mixer. what would i use for mic? I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Interface |
Anabel Sanderfoot 10.04.2013 | IT can though if it has a sound card correct? - still lil confused there For the main part it just inputs and outputs with flexibility of different cables and cords |
Alphonso Deitchman 10.04.2013 | Audio interfaces do not "increase quality of sound". |

Gaynell Rydberg 10.04.2013 | I'd really suggest sticking with Native Instruments or one of the popular companies for a sound card.... Why are you so against the NI Audio cards? |
Anabel Sanderfoot 10.04.2013 | Anyone know much about the DJ-Tech Soundbox Pro - USB Audio Interface ? It has 4 in 4 out. looks really useful Im looking for a 4in/4out audio interface for a good price also the Mixvibes UMIX44 4in / 4out USB Sound Card? |

Get a controller and learn how to dj, see if u even like it. cos at the moment it seems like u have no idea.... Also just a x1 by itself is going to be tricky.... the out of the box mappins dnt have EQ, or Fader instructions.... |
Anabel Sanderfoot 10.04.2013 | Thnx |
Ethel Feigum 10.04.2013 | To be perfectly honest (and not trying to confuse you more) I believe your best bet is to get something like a mixtrack pro, or an NI S2 or S4 and learn the basics. All you have to do is plug in and go. Learn to mix on basic gear, and once you've mastered that, figure out where to go from there. |
Gaynell Rydberg 10.04.2013 | If all you want to do is run the X1, then just buy an NI Audio 2 and go have some fun. |

Ethel Feigum 10.04.2013 | Touch osc will turn your ipad into a midi controller, like the x1, so you'd plug it in and use it to control the software. Traktor dj is it's own dj software, and won't work with the Traktor running on your laptop (I really believe you need to get the idea of running traktor dj on ipad alongside Traktor on your laptop out of your head, at least for now.) If you're not using another controller/mixer with a built in soundcard, you'll need the Audio 2. |
Anabel Sanderfoot 10.04.2013 | So just to clear it up i can connect an ipad running traktor dj or touch osc to my laptop while running traktor pro connect x1 to laptop buy an Ni Audio 2 for Audio interface correct? |

Gaynell Rydberg 10.04.2013 | Seriously though. Stop worrying about future purchases. Just pick up the X1 and see if you like DJing in the first place. Just buy it and start mixing! I still don't believe you understand what the mixer and audio card do since you're asking about the NI audio 2 if you pick up an all in one controller. All in one controllers have the sound card built in. |

Ethel Feigum 10.04.2013 | Nope, there's a soundcard built in to most of those. If you like cue juggling the vci-400 might be a good choice for you, lots of buttons! |

Ethel Feigum 10.04.2013 | To the laptop. The ipad is just used as a midi controller. |

In the future, if you want to add iPad to your setup, or even use it as your only device, you can just plug it to your controller and use it as a mixer. Traktor DJ can be split to 2-channel via splitter cable (mono) or A6, A10 (stereo). |
