Do you have any sort of external speakers, or at least headphones?

Yes to booth

one x1 and an audio 2 ... or one k2

add more as you need. a mixer is a great investment but the above is fine for a start.

I swear to God dude, if you don't get off this Traktor DJ thing, my heads going to explode. A. You don't know what you're doing yet. B. It's designed for prepping tunes. C. Freeze is cool, but there's other ways to trigger samples. You aren't Shiftee. He makes everything look easy. That's why NI uses him to sell shit. The dude's a DMC champ. That means he was the baddest motherfucker in the world for a year.

Get basic shit. Learn how to use it. Do you have any idea how many thousands of 1200's are collecting dust because people dove straight in before they got their feet wet? I got into dj'ing because my cousin spent his graduation money on decks and they collected dust.

Trust me. You don't really even know what kind of music you want to play yet. Get basic shit. Learn the basics and spend money on music. It's really not about having the latest gear. It's about having the best tunes and knowing when and how to play them.
So i can input an ipad into it using traktor dj app for freeze mode correct?
Yes, you should be able to. The only thing you won't be able to do is monitor the second track in your headphones. Which you probably won't need since ur just using freeze mode, but I'm just sayin. If you wanted to cue monitor a track, you would either need a headphone jack splitter, or the ipad camera connection kit and an interface. image.jpg

This sound correct guys? I'm not a pro at this stuff but it seems like this would work. Imma try it out toevening , traktor dj is pretty cool for an app. Deff not something to use all time normally but i like the touch screen capabilities. I feel like im in a scene from minority report with all this touch screen blinky light goodness

Its up to you if you want to mix 4 decks.

Novation Twitch vs MC3000

How important are 4 decks? Once I would be able to use it.

I've never played MC3000, but from the picture above, I believe you could be able to plug your iPad to Line1 or Line2.

Yeah im believeing twitch, or wait for cmd studio 4a for all in one controller

twitch allows input from an external device witch is nice

I was just told you cant input an external device into the Denon DJ MC3000. Then I just watched a video were a guy was saying you can i believe

Agree. When I posted, I was just believeing about the best solution for him to use Laptop and iPad together, which is actually not necessary at all.

Just sharing my opinion here... I also mainly use Twitch in my gigs because I really addict to its performance pad . But when I'm too lazy to bring my laptop to the evening club, I just go there with my flashdrive and play with CDJs. I believe the touchstrip on Twitch is really good enough for manual beatmatching. Anyway, I agree that beatmatching with jogwheel is more fun

Btw, 14 Pages already??? lol

Trust their opinion mate. You should just get an all-in-one controller with the laptop. You will know very soon that you don't need iPad for DJing. Actually, your X1 is already enough for you at this time since you just start to learn how to DJ.

worry about learning to dj first.

You are all over the place bro! I love your enthusiasm, but pop a ritalin or somethin! You've barely begun your journey into djing, don't worry about gigging yet. It totally depends on where the gig is, and what type of gig it is.
Anabel Sanderfoot

Another question. How much room is there usually for all in one set ups at gigs? Is it something to consider?

I know modular set ups generally consume less space.

depends on how good you are. It is harder. If you want to learn to beatmatch (which you should, if you want to be a dj) you are better off with jog wheels.
Anabel Sanderfoot

How hard is it to beatmatch two songs together without johwheels?

This isn't going to be your first and only gear. This is why I keep telling you to buy just an X1!

I started with an APC40, didn't like it. Tried out external mixing, really loved it, but it was too expensive to get a full rig. Then I went to a Denon MC3000 all in one which has been quite wonderful. I would however like to eventually go back to external mixing.

You can buy plenty of gear down the road! There's no need to spend all 800 dollars now.

Go to a Guitar Center and put your hands on some stuff! Where are you located? Find some folks on this community who live close by and set up a meeting to check out their gear! Get any cheap all i one controller and learn on it!
